Chapter 6

Chapter Six

I wasn't even breathing when he said that to papa because even if I told them that I went on a date, they didn't know who I am dating. I am still hesitating on whether I should just walk out from this very awkward scene or just grab Makey and dismiss the topic immediately.

I was overthinking things when I heard my father laugh. I looked at him who's like he is about to faint out of laughing.

He's enjoying this!

"Papa! Stop it." I said.

He stopped laughing and looked at Makey, "Okay, Asha. You go out already. Your suitor's waiting for you." he said and is clearly teasing me. I looked at Makey who didn't even care that he created chaos in me. I shook my head and went out of the car.

I approached Makey but it was like he's in another dimension because he was just staring at the blue sky.

This guy...really.

"Be careful you two!" he said and was about to drive back home when he stopped again right in front of us, "And Angelo, I am inviting you for dinner. Make sure that you both can come huh?" papa said and I secretly pinched Makey to get him out from his own world.

I saw him winced, "Yes, sir! I'll definitely come. Take care, sir." he said and saluted before my father started the car again and drove his way back.

When the car is out of our sight, I strike Makey's left arm with my hand and he shouted.

"Ugh! You're super unpredictable. You should've informed me that you'll fetch me or even texted me that you'll wait for me today." I whined while we're going inside the school campus.

"Then, I wouldn't be unpredictable to you if I informed you about my plan."

"Still. I don't want to get caught off guard."

He sighed, "It's done now. Though, I should've introduced myself years ago yet you still didn't want it and I respected your decisions but now, I want to tell your parents because I want them to look after us and guide us." I looked at him, defeatedly because he was sure to be saying some sense.

"Next time, tell me about the things that you'll do. Don't surprise me like that! I wasn't even breathing after you said that because I was afraid that papa won't approve of you!" I heard him laugh after I said it.

That's the only thing that I am worrying about. 'My parents are not approving of him—the person whom I like so much.'

"Don't worry, I am charming. Your parents would love me to be your boyfriend." I rolled my eyes when he said that.

He's lifting himself again.

"And because you want to be informed about what I'll do next then join me and my friend at lunch. Bring your friend with you." my eyes widened when he said that because that would only mean that we're going public starting from now.

"From now on I refuse to be your secret, Asha. I am not embarrassed about being your suitor and I want them to know also that I am courting you." and my face reddened when he said that.

"You really know so much, Makey." I muttered and shook my head.

"You're just romantically excited, Asha." he said and even winked at me.

"You're making me cringe."

"You're just romantically excited with my unique suitor moves." he said like there was truth to what he said.

Ugh! He's really annoying sometimes.

I walked straight and didn't say a word. I only stopped and turned to him when I'm at the front door, "I'll be going in now. Don't skip your classes, Makey." I reminded him of that because sometimes I would just catch him at the canteen eating with his friends even though his class wasn't done yet.

He nodded, "Do great, Asha. I know you're smart and I'm proud of you always." he said and I frowned just to stop myself from smiling.

It feels good hearing that from him, though.

"Smart my ass. Just go now. You'll be late for your class." I said before going inside the room without looking if he left already.

The usual class for Tuesday morning went by so fast that I thought I haven't learned so much. This time, I wasn't daydreaming. I just find the topics difficult for me to understand that's why I didn't learn anything today. I was listening but maybe it wasn't enough because my mind just finds it hard to absorb all the topics. The teachers were rushing too because they needed to chase their quotas too. I'll just review it this evening thoroughly because next week we'll be having another topic and then we'll have a quiz on Friday. That would be too much for me to take if I'll study it once only.

Though, I admit that we don't usually have the time to master it and understand all those learning because all are being rushed. It's totally boring when you're studying, even more so that you're not only battling your study habits but also the stress that you get from excessively studying and giving the required tasks on time.

.

It's the last subject before lunch so it's our Personal Development class. So far, this subject is where I think I excel because I like the topics and that it's interesting for me to. Bonus points because the teacher also makes it easier for us. She just does not jump into a topic for the sake of acquiring the said lesson plan for that week. She'll only stop when we learn and understand it all. That's why I like this subject.

"Asha, what is the definition of self-schema?" Thea asked me who's sitting beside me. We're currently answering an Activity.

"It's how we view ourselves?" I wasn't sure about it when I said it that's why it seems like I was answering in a question form also. I usually memorize and understand all of it and maybe that world slipped my mind because I can't remember it specifically.

I quickly finished the activity and passed it to my teacher. "You can now go out and have lunch."

I signalled Thea to answer it quickly because I am hungry when I remembered that I didn't tell her yet about us joining lunch with Makey's friends.

"I guessed all my answers, Asha. I couldn't remember all of it!" she frustratingly said and I chuckled at the way she behaved.

"Same..." I trailed and looked in front, "By the way, we'll be eating lunch with Makey today." then I sensed her smiling weirdly and I now she's going to tease me!

"Aww, you decided to be public now? I'm happy for you, Asha." she genuinely said and I shyly nodded my head.

"Just tell me if you're officially dating huh?"

"Of course. You'll be the third person that I'll tell if we're officially dating." I said.

"What? I should be the first one!" she complained.

I flicked her forehead and giggled, "Crazy. Of course, my parents would be the first one to know about it."

"Oh right!" and we both laughed, "So are you in?" I asked.

"Sorry, can't be with you today. Yato also asked me to have lunch with him. Maybe, we can have lunch together tomorrow. Just tell me the details!" she said before running away from me because she immediately spotted Yato inside the campus waiting area.

Guess, I'll be the one who'll be walking from here to the canteen. I was about to turn around when I noticed Makey who's running towards me. I surprisingly looked at him because he was now right in front of me, catching his breath. Made me think that his classroom was far from where my classroom is and that he intentionally went here because he thought I would back out from his invitation.

"Makey, I thought we'll be seeing each other at the cafeteria?" I asked.

He lifted his head and looked at me, "Huh? I should fetch the one who I'm courting."

I raised my left brow because of what he said, "And where did you get that idea?"

"It's in a rule book of courting someone."

"Who wrote that book?" I asked again because I was curious too.

Is there a book like that?

"Forget about it. I fetch you okay? That's all. No questions needed." he said.

"You can just text me, you know."

"I want to be here, Asha."

"Even so..." I still made a fuss about him being here but he handled it coolly.

"Well. I'm already here. Come now! You might be hungry already." he said and I was about to start walking when he touched my shoulders, causing me to stop and look at him.

"What?" I asked and he pointed to the strap of my back.

"Give me that," he said.

"No. I can handle it, Makey." I declined because I can carry my bag well. I don't need his help.

"Okay. Then, can I hold your hand? and what he asked made me still and I felt my cheeks going crimson red. I unconsciously nodded then I felt him holding my hand gently while we're walking. I saw how some of the students are looking at us—no, they're looking at our intertwined hands.

"This feels good, you know." he suddenly said and as much as I don't want people to see us like this, I can't deny that this feels too good.

"Yeah... wish I can hold your hand more in the future." I said that made him stop for a second. It was my true feelings right there that I said to him.
