Winter
So here I am.. Chillin on his bed this time. While I awkwardly stare around the room trying to avoid his gaze that I feel on me I spot something that interests me.
Getting up from his bed I walk over to his desk and sit down in the chair and look at the giant drawing hanging on the wall behind it.
It was a giant poster paper and on it was the most realistic drawing I've ever seen. It was of a little boy chasing after a girl that looked to be slightly older than him. They were running in a yard that looked big and well taken care of, but the most interesting part wasn't the running but what it looked they were doing while running.
They looked like they were running into another shape and then in front of them were two little wolf pups doing the same thing the kids were doing.
The drawing was very well drawn and it looked so realistic that it left me speechless. If I could draw half as well as who ever did this I would never stop drawing, its truly beautiful.
"You like it?"
Not expecting to here a voice so close to me or at all I jumped a Lil bit.
Standing up I trace my finger across the little boy and the equivalent wolf.
"I love it. Did you do this?"
"No. Actually it was my Nana."
"She's seems like a truly amazing person. I would have loved to meet her, especially if she could draw like this. Do you have any more of them?"
His hand slips into mine and he pulls me along out if his room and down a hall way while I stare in wonder at our intertwined hands.
I loved the contrast of it. His big, tan hands and my smaller, and much paler hands.
He stops for a second, pulling open a door, and walking through it while I walked behind him.
Up stairs we walked... And walked.... And walked some more.. Have I told you how much I hate stairs? No? Well I do!
So anyways we walked up stairs for awhile and when I was about to complain for maybe the thirtieth time we finally got to where ever the destination in which we were going was.
He opened this trapped door looking thing which allowed us to walk up the last few steps into what I now see to be the attic and I look around.
Around being used very literally. All around me were drawings upon drawings and paintings and just everything you can imagine to be artistic. Sculptures, clay figures and vases and just lots of beautiful talented things. And I got real jealous of the talent.
Looking up and over at Echo my face probably looks ridiculous but I don't care.
"Can I sleep here?"
He bursts out laughing thinking I'm joking but bish no, I'm as serious as a heart attack. When he quiets down and looks at my face he realizes I'm extremely serious.
"No winter you can't sleep in the attic."
"Echo, this isn't an attic. This is a world. It's beauty, and its amazing."
"I know that. I know what all this is but no I care about your safety and I don't want you getting hurt or sick. I'll let you take one home though."
"Echo no. I couldn't possibly do that to you. These are your grandmother's, I couldn't possibly take these from you."
He pulls his phone out from his back pocket and checks it. He replies to a text then puts his phone back before grabbing my hand and leading me back down the stairs.
"I know the perfect one to give you. I'll get it before we go back to your house."
Rolling my eyes I let him have this one thing because I feel like its important to him and that it'll make him happy.
Taking my time walking down the many flights of stairs we finally get to the bottom where a heavy, flying, mass comes from nowhere and tackles the shit out of me like I'm some kind of football.
I fell with some type of cross between a scream and a distressed whale sound and landed very ungracefully on the floor with am oomph.
Raising up on my elbows I stare at the very excited, and familiar looking woman kneeling over me.
I hear a low growl from somewhere as Echo lifts the woman off of me but ignore it because I didn't see any dogs around me. I continue to stare at the woman as she bounces in place and Echo extends his hand down to pick me up off the floor.
"E did you have to knock her down? Be more careful."
"Oh hush. I didn't hurt her, now introduce me to her."
Rolling his eyes he turns to me and grabs my hand, pulling me in closer to him.
"Winter this crazy, short woman over there bouncing for no reason is my older sister Ezra. Ezra this is my short friend Winter."
She squeals with happiness and pulls me into a bone crushing hug where I feel the life being sucked away from me. Then like it never happened I could breath again and Echo is holding Ezra in the air who has the facial expression of the cat who ate the canary.
"E what did I just say about being careful?"
"Okay okay this time it was my bad now let me down."
As soon as he let's her go she runs for me again and pulls me into another, less life sucking, hug.
"You are sooo frickin adorable. Can I keep you? No? Well that's okay we can be best friends instead."
At this point I think I'm pretty used to her actions so her words were a lot less crazy than I initially thought they would be, but funny and a Lil creepy no less.
"I'd love to be friends with you."
"Oh goody. Let's go meet my husband then. ... And the baby if she's awake."
My speechlessness goes unnoticed by her as she pulls me back into the kitchen.
Upon walking into the kitchen I notice a big freaking blonde guy that wasn't there earlier bouncing a gurgling baby on his knee and talking to Troy. As we walk in they go quiet and the man and baby both look at the woman dragging me into the kitchen.
As soon as she gets closer the baby starts bouncing and reaching her hands up for her to be held. Ezra walks over to the man and picks the baby up from his lap, she goes to turn and walk away hut he grabs her hips and makes her sit on his lap.
Ignoring him she looks at me and smiles, grabbing the babies small hand in hers she waves it at me in a beckoning motion.
"Come here Winter. I want you to meet my very clingy husband and my very adorable baby girl. This is Axel and this beauty right here is my little Delilah. Isn't she adorable?"
She looks at Delilah with so much love and affection that I know that she'll do anything in order to keep her baby girl safe, and I can't help but to want that too.
Walking over to them I take Delilahs small hand in mine and gave it a gentle shake.
"Its wonderful to meet the beautiful Delilah."
She gives me a bright beaming smile like she knows what I just said and gurgles some more. Turning to the giant behind them I debate on how exactly I'm supposed to greet him... Or even if I should.
His looks mean business.
"Oh don't worry bout him dear. He might look all mean and scary but he's such a sweet heart."
A slow, sly grin stretches across his face until his face is lit up in the most biggest smiles I've ever seen.
"Dang Ma, you just had to ruin my plans and make me seem all soft. What will happen to my scary image?"
Camilla points her wooden spoon at him and smiles.
"Oh? You had a scary image? I'm sorry I never noticed."
I hear Echo's laugh close behind me and felt the warmth radiating off of him in waves and then I felt his hand in mine pulling me over to the counter where Camilla is.
"Now hurry up and sit down. Dinners ready."
We all move to the table and sit down... Except for me.
No, it's not that I didn't want to. It was the opposite, I couldn't. There were no seats left. Looking around awkwardly I see Camilla looking at me apologetically.
"I'm sorry darling we just moved and I didn't expect these three to show up. Why don't you just sit on Echo's lap, I'm sure he's more than fine with that."
I'm speechless. Not because she didn't have enough seats but because she doesn't care if I sit on her son's lap or not.
Looking over at him I notice that he's staring intently at me and it's not like I would be the only one in a lap... Ezra's still in Axel's lap.
Moving over to his side he moves back and grabs my hips, causing shocks to be sent up my spine and places me on his lap. His hands remain there loosely and I adjust in his lap so that I'm more comfortable but stop immediately when he grabs my hips again.
Blushing slightly I look down and notice Camilla and Ezra high five-ing.
Is it just me or did they have this planned?
Any who! Skipping the beginning of the awkward start to dinner the rest of it was truly fun and when it was time for us to go Echo made good on his word and brought me a drawing for me to take home.
Of course he wrapped it and wouldn't let me look at it till I got inside my house and by that time it was an hour past my 'curfew' time but Roger was oddly okay with it.
Like I called ahead and told him ahead of time.
Getting out of the shower I take my towel off and put on one of the big shirts I normally sleep in and as I was putting it on I heard a loud thud from outside. Running to the window I cautiously look out.
Seeing nothing there to worry about and feeling that weird thing that tells me I'm safe I shut the curtains and turn to my bed.
Noticing the painting sitting on my bed I walk over to it and bring it with me to the bed. Sitting down with the picture in my lap I start to open it.
Tearing up the old newspaper covering it I lift the painting out. Looking at it closely I see that its another hand drawing of a Lil boy that's split in half.
Not literally, what I mean is the left half of his face is the younger part and the right looks like his older self.
Its really beautifully drawn with lots of intricate details and I notice for the first time after staring at it for awhile that the older man is Echo. Looking at the smaller one I figure that its probably the Lil version of Echo.
Tracing his face with my finger tips I memorize every little nook and cranny on his face. Smiling softly at the picture I turn and place it on my nightstand next to my bed.
Before turning the lights out and rolling over to sleep I blow a small kiss toward the picture and roll over to sleep before I can question my sanity or actions.
