It feels like yesterday that I left home in a run.
All this while, I've been stacking up on all I've done.
By myself, no height could possibly seem tall enough-
I was far too heavy, my voice far too rough.
But even when I felt the roof above just cave in,
My ground held strong, an unwavering wind pulling me in.
I treaded carefully, steadying these feet of mine
And gazing upon this sky I was seeing for the first time.
You brought me here, to this place so beautiful,
Leading by your love, by your smile tender and careful.
In this moment where I stand, strong against the storm,
Where I am has been created by your heart so warm.
So, in those days that seem hard and unforgiving,
When you're tired, doubtful but continue believing-
When this sky you helped me mark seems too far to you
And when you map where we are, wondering what to do-
Even then, I'll be right here on this side of the sky
Upon which you gaze in awe, reaching out so high-
To touch, to comfort. And when you say you're fine,
I hope you'll make me your strength as I have made you mine.
Dreams don't just come true, there's little you can do alone.
They hide in the corners of the little pages you had torn.
It's a big wide world- you cannot search forever.
So, let's look for those pieces and stick them back together.
When you stumble and reach out and learn to grab your own hand
You'll learn the security of sinking your feet into the sand.
Then, there, you'll stand strong against the storm.
You'll recognise that where you are is where I have been all along.
The sight I see today, I see in your steady voice.
I know I'll find you no matter how loud the noise,
For you have set your heart in stone and laid me my foundation.
Between you and I, we are our own salvation.
