Jack was rushing home from school. He had to take a detour because he was being chased by some of the students. The sun was already setting meaning Jack had been running for a couple hours.
Jack had no idea where he got this endurance from but he liked it. He could become an Olympic athlete if he wanted to.
...
About half an hour later Jack got home. It was a simple 2 bedroom house that he shared with Quinn. The government saw how close they had grown and gave them paired lodging for all of highschool. With Quinn at the nurse though, Jack was all by himself. The house had 2 bathrooms (one in each room), a kitchen and a living/dining room. Jack and Quinn both knew how to cook since they lived by themselves before and Jack was the better of the two.
The first thing Jack did when he got home was throw his stuff I'm his room and head to his shower. Although he wasn't tired from running, it was still hot out and he worked up a sweat. Jack hated being dirty in anyway as it went against what his parents taught him while they were still alive.
While getting undressed Jack remembered he had a system. When he thought about it a notification appeared.
[Virtuous System]
[Stats]
[Skills]
[Inventory 0/10]
Jack knew how to use a system as it was one of the required classes to pass freshman year.
"To view anyone of the tabs in ones System screen, all you need to do is think about it. If this doesn't work, saying it out loud should work as well."
With this in mind all Jack had to do was think about what he wanted to do. 'Stats'
[Virtuous System Stats]

When Jack thought of his stats a whole heap of information flooded his brain. Jack almost got overwhelmed but was able to calm himself down.
[Beginner Mental Resistance Lvl up]
Jack was confused at first as to why he just got a notification for a skill lvl up, but chose to look into it later. He just wanted to take his shower and almost got sidetracked.
.......
After about a 15 minute shower Jack got out and dried himself off. The shower gave him time to think...think about why he got his system now...instead of when he was born. Most people got their system when they were born and some for them at the age of 5. Jack wondered why he got his at 15. After realizing that he wasn't gonna be able to come up with any answers he gave up on the whole thing.
Jack checked the time and it was 9:30pm. His curfew was 10pm and lights out was 10:30pm, so he had about an hour to do some things. First he made himself some dinner, this consisted of green beans, peas, and corn, along with some chicken breast and 2 slices of toast. He had a glass of milk to accompany the whole shebang. By the time he finished eating it was 10:15pm and Jack asked his system what his skills were. 'Skills'

Jack was ecstatic at all the nice skills he had. This meant that he was a rather powerful person. Just as Jack was getting even more interested in his new System the clock showed 10:30 pm and the lights went out. It was time for him to go to sleep. He had another day of school tomorrow and didn't want to be late. Quinn was there and he needed to check on him and give him the good news.
.............
The next morning Jack woke up and ate breakfast faster than usual. He had plans today that he did not want to change. He quickly put on his backpack and went outside to wall to his school. It was only about a 30 minute walk so Jack didn't mind doing it everyday. He loved hot weather and June was the perfect month for that. It was almost constantly 80°F and there was little to no wind.
When Jack got to school he immediately went to the Nurse's office to check on Quinn. Along the way many students asked him about yesterday's events but he ignored them subconsciously and kept on walking.
When he got to the Nurse's office he asked her where Quinn was. She pointed to the end of the room and told Jack that hes all good and ready to go back to classes. Her Support System really helps all students in the school and she is one of the most beloved staff members.
"Quinn I heard your all better now. That's great to hear."
Quinn gave a simple nod to Jack and Jack could tell he wasnt feeling his best. Quinn has lost he sanity multiple times whilst using his System and gets depressed every time it happens. He doesn't like the fact that he can't fully control his own System. He usually was pretty quick to get over it though as he was a generally happy person.
"I've got some good news Quinn. I finally got my System!"
Quinn suddenly shot up and grabbed Jack by the shoulders. "Wait, are you serious?"
Jack gave a pleased nod and Quinn's face lit up. His best friend had finally gotten his System after all this time. He didn't have to constantly worry about Jack's safety anymore and could relax.
Jack calmed Quinn down so that he didn't accidentally hurt himself again and the two talked till the 5 minute bell rang. Both of them were in the same class which was across the school so they had to run. Today was the last day of school and then they would be on summer break.
When they got to their class both Jack and Quinn sat and listened to their Homeroom teacher explain what was going to happen.
"As most of you know, today is your last day of school before break. Now dont let this confuse you, you still have to complete the summer assignment for you classes next year. Last year only a few people completed it and it brought most of your grades down. But...this summer you won't have to complete the assignment."
The class looked at each other including Jack and Quinn. 'Why would he just say that we would have to complete it and then tell us we dont have to?' The teacher soon continued after the class settled down.
"Some of you know that the tournament that happens every three years is near. Frankly our school tends to do bad and place low in this said tournament. This year the superintendent has decided to host a summer training camp. It will start 2 weeks from now and end a week before school starts again. Those of you who participate will not have to do the assignments, the others will. Also everybody with a System rank of Nickel or above must enter the tournament. You are dismissed to you remaining classes today."
Jack completely forgot about the System ranks. Systems were ranked in 12 different levels from lowest to highest: Tin, Aluminium, Cobalt, Coal, Nickel, Iron, Jade, Gold, Topaz, Diamond, Emerald and Platinum.
Jack knew Quinns was ranked at Topaz. Quinn had worked on his System tirelessly, improving its rank from Iron to Topaz. Jack quickly realized that he didnt know what his System's rank was. 'Rank'
