CHAPTER LIV:Sun And Moon

I ran down the alleyway after the figures, Penny and Olivia were close behind. I had to catch the figures at any cost. I believed I saw Deonna Rosado, and that was the Moon Legatus Legionis of Sol's and Luna's Protectors.

"Light bearer! Hummingbird!" I yelled out.

I turned the corner and saw Luke Luci, and Deonna Rosado. Both of them wore Roman style armor, one wore regular steel armor while the others armor was blackened to look like a shiny opal or obsidian glass. Luke had orange hair and blue eyes with sun yellow clothes under his armor, he was the Sun Legatus Legionis of his legion. Deonna on the other hand had amethyst purple hair and emerald green eyes with silver clothes under her armor instead of the bright yellow.

"Hello Mary, we have been watching you." Luke said smiling and unsheathed his Sun Sword.

I was taken aback by Luke's Sun Sword it was a terrifying weapon. It was an English arming sword, with diamonds lining the middle of the blade, that had the ability to call in blinding light when the sun was out. He would be the more powerful of the two, that didn't make Deonna's abilities any less horrifying. She was holding two two daggers at her side, but her true strength wouldn't show until the moon came out. When did she get those daggers? Deonna's combat abilities mixed with those daggers was notorious, but she didn't have a sheathe for them anywhere. While Luke's sword though was one of the most dangerous weapons here (besides my dagger).

"Well that's a bit creepy, but it seems that you've been watching someone else as well." I said drawing my sword and dagger.

"Yeah, besides as of now you're the enemy." Penny stated drawing her sword and grabbing a shield off her back.

Olivia readied her weapons as well, I went to charge forward when an arrow landed in front of me. I looked up at the rooftops and saw something more blood chilling than a Titan or a specially designed weapon. Up on the rooftop behind Deonna and Luke was a woman with a gold mask staring at us, to the woman's left on the rooftop was an archer wearing crimson red clothing.

I wasn't sure but I believed I was looking at two members of the Minor God Five. The woman with the long black hair and the gold mask was the legendary Dreamwalker, and the archer with the snow white hair with black tips and sapphire blue eyes to her left was Sorcerer.

"Penny, Olivia, let's go." I said backing off from a very dangerous fight, and sheathing my weapons.

"After you." Penny said standing her ground watching Sorcerer.

I walked away with Olivia and Penny followed soon after, we went back to Sara's house as quickly as possible. I didn't mind trading blows with Legionnaires, but I didn't want to trade blows with god trained specialists. We had the numbers to take them, but we didn't have the skill. Especially if what I had heard about Dreamwalker was true. I got back to Sara's house, I stepped up to her door and knocked on it. Seth opened it instead of Sara, who's ruby red hair was visible in the kitchen.

"Hello, what's our mother's name?" Seth asked me, probably making sure I wasn't a god or a demigod using dark magic.

"Julie Riley, daughter of Jessica and Lucian Riley." I said quietly.

Seth nodded and moved aside. I walked in and Seth stopped Penny to ask her a question. I looked around and saw sea decor everywhere. Model pirate ships and battle ships, ship flags, seashells, pictures of coral reefs, books upon books about Greek Myths and Atlantis, and loads of saltwater fish tanks filled with several different types of fish (which is why the air in here smelled like salt) covered the walls and shelves all over the living room. I walked over to Sara who was messing with a silver trident pendant, which showed she was second in command of Atlantis' Guard force and Praefectus Castrorum of Neptune's Blessed.

"Hi Mary, mind telling me why I have legion scouts drawing up battle lines?" Sara asked staring at a fish tank filled with varying colors of Damselfish.

"Someone hired Helios and Selene to kill you, and they're marching on San Francisco." I said, I realized Sara's eyes went from a sort of cyan blue to a storm cloud grey.

"A storm is coming as well, let's hope the storm comes before they do." Sara said quietly.

I had recognized the shift in her eye color from a book I had read on Atlantians. The book said that there was a training that made a person's body so in tune with nature that their body could naturally sense the weather. If it was snowing their eyes would go blank, if it was raining their eyes would go grey, and if it was clear their eyes would be normal. Olivia never received this training cause she was more focused on combat rather than politics and learning about her people, Sara was quite the opposite.

It always surprised me that Sara's and Olivia's roles weren't reversed. Sara was clearly stronger and cared more about people and their well being. Olivia was more the brutal force type, and she showed how little she cared for enemy life. Sara had more Atlantian training cause she was almost always in Atlantis training. Her meditation ritual was practically religious, she either surrounded herself with fish or stared into a fish tank and zone out. I had seen it happened a few times in Poseidon's classroom when I stopped by for tutoring.

I went to say something to Sara, but then realized that she had zoned out. I waved my hand in front of her face but she was gone. I sighed and went to the living room where our gear was. I didn't know when, but either Seth or Adam grabbed the bags before we all teleported here. I went through them and found my second reinforcement marker. I went outside with it and smashed the glass against the wall. Keaton rose from the ground and smiled he held a spear in his hand.

"I love San Francisco! I never got to come here when I was alive!" Keaton exclaimed excitedly looking around.

"Keaton, the war." I said looking at him.

"Yeah yeah. I'll call the rest of my legion and some dead soldiers as well, we'll have the surrounding area locked down in five minutes." Keaton said looking around more, this time I could see that he was looking around the area from a tactical view.

Keaton walked away and pulled out a deployment scroll. I walked back inside, and Adam ran upstairs with his bow. Seth and Mino were locking down the first floor, Penny was gone, and Olivia was moving fish from their tanks into the basement. I really hoped there was a tank in the basement and not just a floor of dead or dying fish. This was what we were trained to do when we were sent on defensive or protection missions. We locked down floor by floor then took tactical positions, Olivia was hopefully saving fish in case arrows came into the house.

I walked upstairs to see Penny locking the second floor down alone, "Need help?" I asked.

"Nope, I'm almost done. I can also say that Sara needs to get a new decoration other than Atlantis." Penny answered looking at the cyan colored walls.

I laughed and followed Penny into a dark room. The walls were painted black, and the windows were completely covered with black duct tape. Around the room were candles, old lanterns, a moon calendar, a shrine to Selene, and a picture of a woman being sacrificed while Perseus was swooping down on a pegasus. This was definitely a room made for Andromeda Rose, Sara's best friend (or used to be best friend now).

"I still can't believe Andromeda tried to kill Sara. They've been friends forever, every time Sara could leave Atlantis the first thing she would do is find Andromeda." Penny said looking around.

"I know." I responded sitting on the bed. "The real question is if Andromeda did it alone, or if Selene made her?"

Penny nodded and pulled some duct tape away. Sunlight flooded the room quickly and warmed it up immediately. Within a second the room felt like an oven.

"Sons of Apollo!" Penny shouted covering the window back up.

"Guess Andromeda didn't have sunlight in mind when she decorated this room." I said through a laugh.

"No shit." Penny said sitting next to me.

Penny put her head on my shoulder and closed her eyes, the stress of war was probably eating at her. I knew it was stressing me out a great deal. I looked at Penny and smiled, I ruffled her hair and saw her smile.

"I'll leave you to it Owl Eyes." I said getting up.

Penny held my arm and pulled me back down. "Like hell, you're colder than death and comfortable even after I scorched us. You're staying here." She said firmly.

"Ok Penny." I said holding Penny close.

I'd never been complimented on my body being cold. In fact, when people mentioned my coldness it was more along the lines of 'how the fuck are you so cold? It's a thousand degrees out here!'. I ran my fingers through Penny's hair, and rubbed her back.

"Mary..." Penny said quietly. "In case we die here…..I love you." she kept her eyes closed, but she got as close to me as she could.

My face felt hot, and I looked at Penny. I could see myself in a small mirror on the nightstand and could see that my face was bright red. I always suspected that she like me but I wasn't sure. My heart started beating a thousand miles a minute as I thought of a response. I slowly put my chin on her head and smiled.

"I love you too, Penny." I said, pulling Penny as close as I could.

After this, if I fucking died today I would drink from the River Lethe with no hesitation the absolute second I got to the Underworld. I looked up and saw myself with oak brown hair and eyes. In that instant I passed out and woke up in my prophecy room where braziers were knocked over and my other self was standing at the end of the hall.
