CHAPTER LIX:Mental Dominance.

Thanatos kept smiling, it took awhile to register but the area around us had frozen in place. The waves were stuck in the ocean like sculpted ice, and Morpheus was still, same with the demigods.

"You ever fight in your head? It's interesting really. It's almost like a fight of sheer will. Except you will feel every blow I give you." Thanatos said.

"You're insane! How long have you shaped human history to bring Khaos back while you smiled in the face of the gods?!" I yelled.

"A little over a thousand years now. We awakened her in 1914, then the death of a very important figure came to play. Then Khaos whispered ramblings and ravings to the Kaiser of Germany until we practically drove him mad." Thanatos explained through a sinister smile.

"How many disasters have you caused just to raise a forgotten Titan!?" I stilled yelled as anger burned through me like a fire that would never go out.

"There was 1914 and the Great War, 1929 and the Great Depression, 1939 and the start of World War Two, 1945 and the atomic bomb, 1986 and the Vladimir I. Lenin Nuclear Power Plant Disaster, and lastly 2001 and the U.S war on terror. Khaos and the order echo throughout history in waves, in many ways they're similar to the Daughters of Hades. Wherever they go, disaster and disorder are soon to follow." Thanatos explained once again.

I looked at Thanatos as hatred burned through my body. I held my hand out and a sword appeared in it. I gripped the handle and charged Thanatos. I slashed wildly and Thanatos calmly dodged every swing without so much as a second glance towards the blade.

"Fight me!" I yelled at Thanatos.

"I would crush you, Oracle. You may have a weapon, but I have control. Morpheus made sure of that." Thanatos said ducking under my blade and moving away from me.

Thanatos came back up and kicked the blade out of my hand. Thanatos had a sword appear in his hand with a blackened steel blade. The handle was made of bone wrapped in black cloth. He charged forward as a dagger appeared in my hand. Our blades clashed and locked. A black snake came out from my sleeve and bit Thanatos' wrist. My blade moved forward stabbing Thanatos in the heart. His form burned up and dissolved. After he was gone I felt an overwhelming sense of dread push down on me.

"My you're strong, it's no wonder you defeated Hummingbird in combat. I do wonder if I sent Luke to his death by tasking him with defeating you. Not like I care about the half-god, the only ones I like are the ones over by Morpheus." Khaos said from behind me with pure ecstasy in her voice.

I turned my attention to her, her form was solidifying more and more. Her obsidian black and ruby red hair was messy and everywhere, followed by her void black eyes with scarlet red irises. What happened to the sweet motherly figure that was comforting a demigod who had lost his closest friend? Had that all been an act just to convince Luke to get himself killed and continue the fight against Pluto's Guard?

"Why?! Why would you manipulate a demigod and send him to his death?!" I shouted swinging my dagger at Khaos.

Khaos smiled and moved her arm shattering my blade. "You know, Hecate got my magic abilities up to date. Even before she realized it, I listened to her incantations and spells for years. The minor gods think they awakened me, but I awakened when the first Daughter of Hades was born. She was nice, and beautiful. Long black hair and grey eyes, she truly looked like a Daughter of Hades. It was fun convincing her to bring a few people to my secret temple." She said through that unsettling smile, and maddened eyes.

My heart dropped, had my half-sister really helped Khaos' rise in power? Or was Khaos trying to fuck with my head to convince me to see her side of things. Khaos smiled and gently put her hand on my forehead. My eyes closed slowly and when I opened them back up I was in an old temple. The pillars holding the temple up looked ready to crumble to sand, and the floor was torn up and crumbling. The stone felt ready to collapse at my footsteps.

A woman stood in the center of a ritual circle said, "Mother of discord, I'm here."

Kori Vlahos, that was the first of my sisters. As Khaos had said, Kori had long black hair and dull grey eyes, she reminded me of Seth oddly enough. Her pale skin and black clothes rounded her beauty together with that same child of darkness presence that Seth has as well. I moved to look at her face and saw we almost looked the same, besides us not sharing the same eye shape, she was a spitting image of me. Our natural hair and eye color was also different, mainly because my brown hair and eyes came from my mom.

"Hello dear!" Khaos' voice called out shaking the temple and cutting off my thoughts.

Kori smiled at the voice. "is she here mother?" She asked sweetly.

"Yes my dear, she's here to see you." Khaos' voice boomed again rattling my bones.

"Excellent, thank you mother." Kori said, she looked directly at me.

Kori's eyes turned red as her smile widened. She sat down in the ritual circle and it prompted me to look at the symbols. There was an hourglass, twin trees, a star, and a sun with two arms at the sides and two feet at the bottom with an eye in the middle. The symbols meant time (Kronos), Earth (Gaea), Ouranos (Heaven), and the universe (Khaos). Three symbols at three points each branched into the symbol of Khaos in the center where Kori sat. The three strongest forces of nature connected to a single entity, each one descended from Khaos and one descended from all three.

I sat across from Kori, and spoke. "Can you-"

"See you? Yes I can. I can hear you as well, Daughter of Hades." Kori said.

I didn't know how this was possible, I was sure this wasn't a dream. I had been in enough of them to know the difference. The only time a dream interacted with me was when I saw Athens burn, but I'm pretty sure Athena had something to do with that.

"It's possible because my patron goddess demands it so. They are singularity, they are the first force of nature, they are chaos and discord. Khaos showed me a dozen lifetimes, and I have seen things through eyes that have seen all." Kori explained.

Had she read my thoughts? And with her ramblings she started to sound like Khaos. I looked at Kori, and had noticed another thing about her appearance. She looked exactly like Khaos, it was a spitting image with no variations.

"Why? Why do you forsake our name like this? Why do you forsake our dad like this?" I asked, but it more felt like I was pleading for answers.

Kori just smiled and said the words that scared me to death. "Because Khaos demands that the Daughters of Hades bring destruction to this world, and when this world burns and everything is done we do it to the next world. She will bless us with the power of destruction, but the Olympians will call it a curse of ours."

My heart stopped in my chest when she said curse, of ours, did she mean the curse of Hades' daughters? The curse that follows every Daughter of Hades like a murder follows soldiers? I looked at Kori for assurance, but all she did was smile! I was losing my mind over simple words, and she was just smiling! It was absolutely maddening!
