CHAPTER LXVIII:Day Three, The Final Battle.

Everyone had gathered in the basement. All of our rations were gathered and Orochi added his as well. In total we had fifteen granola bars, six bento box meals, two packs of green tea, two never ending water bottles, a six pack of mini sodas, and a small package of hard candy.

"Give the adventuring party the bento meals, all except the archer boy." Orochi said pointing at Adam. "If he makes his shots count then I'll get him something special."

Adam looked shocked. "Wha- why?!" He asked.

"Because you called me snake, and I'm not fond of Apollo. My name is Orochi not snake." Orochi said.

I laughed a bit and grabbed a bento box, so did every other adventurer except Adam. Adam, Christina, and Orochi grabbed granola bars. Christina looked happy to get food, Orochi looked happy to spite Adam, and Adam looked absolutely pissed off. Orochi finally took his mask off and showed that the bottom half of his face was completely normal. All besides a snake tattoo on his cheek. Orochi started to eat his granola bar as he grabbed a pack of green tea, and he soon walked upstairs after.

"He's nice." I said.

"Oh fuck off, would you?" Adam said after devouring his first granola bar.

Everyone laughed as I opened my bento box. The meal was white rice and cooked salmon. I also had a bit of vegetables and a cute little fish pastry. Each were in different compartments and taped to the underside of the lid were chopsticks. I took the chopsticks off and broke them apart, I quickly began eating. I was practically starved after days of small meals and snacks. Penny sat next to me and was mumbling in Japanese, at least I believed it was Japanese. Sara looked at the tank and looked worried. Olivia didn't care, she was happy to just get food as well.

"It's freshwater fish if that helps." Mino said looking at Sara.

"They're anadromous. They're only born in fresh water." Penny said.

"Not helping." I chimed in.

"Most kids of Poseidon stay away from eating fish. I noticed that Sara's one of those." Christina said.

Sara began eating anyway, she was probably starved as well. The minutes passed with silence that had settled in the room. Orochi walked downstairs with a kettle and his bag. He slowly pulled out a few, small, ceramic cups. Orochi poured tea into nine cups and gave everyone one.

"Thank you." Penny said.

"It's no problem. I usually keep ten cups on me, they're small and easy to carry. Besides, we need to eat. Today will hopefully be the last day of this shit." Orochi said.

"Yeah, my legion was clearing out the bay and locking it down. Pluto's Guard set up barricades all night, Dreamwalker won't be getting reinforcements. The dwindling forces are all that's left. Keaton took a scouting party and found that they made base in Alcatraz, where they're stranded." Christina said.

"So what's the plan?" Olivia asked.

"Drop into the bay and go on the island. We'll fight anyone in the bay and clear the island. Whoever doesn't run away we'll kill, unless they surrender." Christina said.

Everyone nodded in agreement and finished up their food. We all walked outside to see an amassing force. Pluto's Guard and their black uniforms, Neptune's Blessed and their navy blue uniforms, and the dead in torn up clothes and cut armor were all outside. I noticed Neptune's Blessed brought members with rebreathers and air tanks, rather than a full force of Poseidon's children. I didn't mind cause they fought the same anyway, but we needed the extra power.

The force started marching through the streets. All weapons were at the ready, and all armor was freshly cleaned and polished. I stood next to Keaton, whose spear was still covered in blood. His mouth still had a bit of grey sludge dried up on it. The undead's blood was something called Anti-Ichor. It was a watered down, or rather impure, Ichor from the gods. Anti-Ichor earned its name from a certain ability though. When Ichor touched the ground it grew plants, but when Anti-Ichor touched the ground it rotted whatever it touched. Everything except the dead that is.

"So, you think this'll be the last day of fighting?" I asked Keaton.

"I hope so kid, I'm fucking exhausted." Keaton said.

"I bet…you've been fighting non-stop for two days. I'm pretty sure you've been shot and stabbed a lot as well." I said.

Keaton nodded in response as we got to the bay. Sara held her hand up and a path opened up in the bay. We dropped down in three groups of three. Pluto's guard and the undead dropped onto the path while Neptune's Blessed dropped into the water. Marching like this was a show of force that we were hoping it would scare the enemy into running. Our answer was a group of demigods ready to meet us on the path. They didn't last long, especially since water pulled them off of it and into a bloody frenzy of blades. I saw one demigod get pulled into the water, and before they could react their throats were slit by a soldier wearing a Neptune's Blessed uniform.

Once we got to the island Neptune's Blessed troops shot us to the surface. A few demigod were retreating into the prison. Orochi landed on the island and saw them retreating. Orochi drew his katana quickly, I noticed it was steel with the blade cased in bronze.

"No you don't!" Orochi yelled as he shot a bolt of electricity through his blade killing three demigods.

The demigods in front of us looked at Orochi and were immediately fearful. Orochi sheathed his katana and drew his smaller blade. Orochi said something I didn't catch, but he quickly ran forward into a group of four demigods. Orochi stabbed the first demigod in the heart and moved away quickly. He sidestepped and stabbed the next demigod in the left arm and slashed his arm open, then kicked him down. Orochi then dashed forward into the last two. He spun immediately slashing on of their throats and the others stomach, while sweeping their feet sending them to the ground. By the time Orochi was done, three dying demigods and a lot of blood was on the ground.

"Should we? Finish them?" I asked looking at them.

"No, they'll die soon enough. This is a stance I learned from my mom. No matter the injury, they'll die." Orochi said slitting the second demigod's throat so they wouldn't suffer long.

Orochi sheathed his blade and pulled out the larger sword. We moved toward the building and tried opening the door. It was, sadly, locked.

"Damn, we got anything that can open that?" Seth asked.

"Maybe, hey Jeff!" Keaton called out.

"Yeah boss?" A man, I assume Jeff, called back.

"Grab any explosives from the undead you can, let's blow this fucker open." Keaton said.

I looked into the ground and saw a Legionnaire in Pluto's Guard moving from undead soldier to undead soldier. I moved into the group and looked at the Legionnaires Orochi attacked. All four of them were, as Orochi had said, dead. Even the one who got nothing but a stomach wound. Whatever attack that was, I was glad I wasn't on the receiving end of it. I turned my attention back to the door where four members of Pluto's guard were rigging up an explosive system. It was makeshift, but with enough explosives it could hopefully work.

"Christina, you guys go around back and guard any secondary entrances. We don't need any runners. Seth, head up top and take Adam with you." I said in my firm, commanding voice.

Christina smiled and rounded up a large attack for her job. Seth just nodded and grabbed Adam's arm. They both faded into the shadows in an instant.

"You should be a Legatus Legionis kid." Keaton said smiling.

I shrugged and smiled. "Maybe, military work never appealed to me. Besides I plan on retiring after this war." I said.

"Well if you change your mind I'll let you join my legion, and I'll give you recommendations for the position. Then I can finally rest, you could also use Seth as Tribunus Laticlavius." Keaton responded.

Keaton had a point. Seth would never retire no matter what happened, he would honestly rather die. Seth loved being a demigod and loved being an adventurer more. Maybe Tribunus Laticlavius would fit him. You get to stay an adventurer and you get extra protection. The more I thought about, the more I realized that maybe Pluto's Guard would suit me.
