Lee Miyeon (Irene) was adopted as a child when her parents who were Korean immigrants died in an unfortunate accident. Her foster parents initially treated her kindly but  changed after they were able to conceive a child of their own. She was eventually sent abroad after a traumatic incident threatened the Lee Family's reputation in high society. Yet soon after, the family's business takes a turn for the worse and Miyeon is abandoned completely.

THE LADY IS A COLD HEARTED PROTAGONIST

It was already around 9pm by the time Miyeon regained consciousness. Immediately after waking up, Miyeon felt extremely famished as well as the onset of a headache. Looking around in the room, Miyeon was startled to find that she was not in her hotel room at The Grand. 'What in the world? Why am I in a hospital private room?' she wondered. 'Where are Rich and Jesse?'

Miyeon slowly got off the hospital bed while dragging her IV drip, she walked to the nearby table to pour herself some warm water. It didn't take long for Miyeon to feel dizzy after such minimal physical exertion. Fortunately, a knock sounded on the door and a petite bespectacled nurse entered; she was shocked to see the patient already walking around.
