The Transfer

Sapphire's POV

“Young lady, your grandfather asked if you're ready to go.” I heard my butler said as he waits for me outside my room.

“Tell him to wait.” I answered in a gruff voice. I don't care if he becomes impatient.

“Young lady, do you need some assistance?” said by my Butler. I didn't answer him, instead I continually put my needs on my suitcase. Once I've done packing everything, I lifted it and opened the door. My butler greeted me; he bowed his head before he took my things. When I reached the last step of the staircase, I saw Gianna walking out from the kitchen while holding a peanut butter sandwich. I gave her a sullen glance. One fact about Gianna; she's greedy when it comes to food. The maids carrying her things followed her towards outside.

We'll be moving to Scarlet Academy today. We've packed our things since the students are required to stay at the school's dormitory. Well, that's good to hear. I don't want to stay here any longer. Seeing same faces everyday makes my life tedious. I need to be free.

Before I got in the car I took a glance at the whole mansion. This mansion was intentionally made for me. The old man built it for me when I was ten years old and at a young age, I already have my own mansion. He said it's for my future family. Tss. Future family, my ass. If I know, he just wanted me out of their mansion. And since I have this place all for myself and I thought it's too quiet, I convinced Gianna and her parents to live with me, which they did not hesitate to agree. I have her parents' full trust.

Mom visits me here sometimes. When my Dad died, we decided to live with my grandparents and then years later the old man built the mansion for me. My Mom's been busy with business. She's taking care of Dad's empire and now, she's currently having a business trip in Switzerland.

“Oh I'm really excited!” she shrieked. I put inmy headphones and turned the volume up to its maximum. I don't want to hear Gianna's nonstop excitement. The old man sat on the front seat. I can tell how deep he's thinking from the side mirror. He looked so serious. I wonder where his thoughts are bringing him. Oh well, I don't care anyways. Maybe it's a mafia thing.

Not long enough, the car had left the mansion and were now on the road.

I wonder what Scarlet Academy looks like. Starting tomorrow we'll be studying in a gangster school. How ironic, isn't it? The academy built their own mall and hospital so that the students wouldn't need to go out the premises of the campus. You're not allowed to go out the campus unless you have a valid reason. The school's management is very strict and if you try to escape, you'll surely get caught. Aside from having a valid reason, students are permitted to go out during Christmas day, After that, you'll have to go back. You won't be able to escape because they can detect you.

How did I know these kind of information? It is one of the perks of having a family of Mafia. You are required to learn everything about them, especially when you're an heir to the organization. I studied everything about it along with Gianna. I memorized all the list of the Mafia organizations worldwide and their rankings in the underground society. I even know and have met with the heads of the underground society - that old man is part of them. Gianna's family is one of the most influential and one of the top five strongest Mafia. One of the reasons, why our families are close. Gianna and I learned every single thing about the organizations together, including those that involve fighting.

I was only ten when I learned those kind of things. I was eight when I learned that the old man is a Mafia Boss. I learned how merciless he was and found out that he had assassinated a lot of people already. That was the start of the hatred I feel towards him. Just like a typical kid, all I had in mind was that he is a criminal and he doesn't deserve to be loved. They made me understand, but I don't know, up until now I still hate him.I have no plans of following his footsteps but he keeps on persuading me, he keeps pushing me to a path that I don't wish to take. He said that I can never resist. Because of that, I despise him even more.

His reason was that I am his first grandchild and I deserve the crown. My Uncle Howard's son, Giovanni, is still eight and my Uncle Yuan's child has not been born yet. That's why he said that I have no other choice. Whether I like it or not, I am an heiress to the throne.

I sighed and looked outside the window. Unlike earlier, we're not passing any structures or people anymore. All I can see are trees, grasses, birds fleeing, and dead leaves on the ground. We're in a forest, I think. The scenery reminds me of horror movies. Scarlet Academy surely loves to keep things private. The only people who knows about the academy are all those who are part of the underground society.

“Once we get there, find the head of the school. She'll give you the keys to your dorm," the old man said. We nodded.

I'm getting irked already. My butt feels sharp since I have been sitting for hours already.

“Are we there yet?” Gianna asked in a monotone. She looked tired as she leans her head ont he window.

“We're almost there.”

I closed my eyes to take a nap for a minute. Not long enough, I felt the car stopped. I opened my eyes and saw a huge gold gate in front of us. The academy's name "Scarlet Academy" was engraved on the top of it. The driver honked and the gate slowly parted ways, creating a deafening sound.

“Creepy.” Gianna mumbled.

When the car entered, I saw a long pathway ahead of us that is surrounded by various flowers. The scenery was mesmerizing and astonishing. While looking at those flowers, I feel like I am free. I feel peace. It looks wonderful and glamorous.

The car reached the parking lot and the driver went out to take out our luggage. The car doors were then opened. Once I stepped on the ground of the academy, I felt weird but ecstatic. I think this would be an adventure.

“You girls behave and have fun. Don't do any trouble, especially you Sapphire. Don't let yourself drag into trouble," he reminded. He looked very serious. I bet he's having problems with his organization or maybe business.

I rolled my eyes and nodded. We took our baggages after they left. We turned to see the whole academy.

“Ang ganda.” Gianna commented in a euphonious voice as she wandered her eyes around.. Even I is astonished. Something tells me that our lives will change here.

“Let's go find the Head's office.” She grabbed my hand and pulled me with her. Her steps were big; she's obviously excited.

I roamed my eyes around. Students are minding their own business. Girls who are being pretentious, people making out, there also those who are busy with their phones, vandalizing, and of course, as expected, the bullies bullying a whimpy kid.

The academy is huge. It'll be hard for us to find the head. Damn it! Ugh! Why didn't that old man accompany our way to the Head's office? He didn't even give a second to give us directions, instead he left his granddaughter and her best friend with no clue on where to go. “We might get lost.”

“Try asking someone.” I answered.

We passed by a lot of students and most of them followed us with their eyes while whispering something to their companions. I sighed. I knew it. You should always expect this kind of reaction from people when you are transferred. I can even hear what others are whispering.

“Gosh! They look stunning!”

“Transferees? Never seen them before.”

“Watch me get that girl's number later.”

“Am I in heaven already?”

“Tch. I'm still prettier than them.”

I laughed at the last one. When I turned to her, she was eyeing me from head to toe. I refrained myself from laughing. She looked like a Christmas tree.

“We're going to befriend them and ask for tips on how to look beautiful.”

“Intimidating. Ugh! Now I feel insecure!”

“Olivia's new target.”

“Their eyes are making me conscious. Do I look good, Saph? Damn! It's hard to be beautiful.” I disregarded what Gianna said. It's nonsense after all.

“Just try asking anybody where the----”

“Ouch!” There goes her clumsiness.

“Sorry, Miss---”

“Blake?” Now this is thrilling. It must be a lucky day for her. Gianna obviously stoned. Her eyes are even sparkling and her mouth is slightly opened. She's awed.

“Gianna? Gianna Ylves?”

“You remember me.” I want to facepalm. Her voice was soft and sweet as she slowly said that. She sounded cringy.

“Uhh, how couldn't I?” Blake chuckled that made my best friend look at him with astonishment. Get back to your senses Gianna! “What are you doing here, by the way? Don't tell me that you'd be studying here? And woah... You're with someone.” That Blake guy looked at me. I maintained my poker face, he then looked away.

“Ah yes! She's my best friend. Hihi. Sapphire meet my boy---classmate in grade six. Blake.” Gianna introduced wothout leaving her eyes on him. Oh god.

“Nice to me----”

“Whatever. Will you show us the way to the Head's office, mister Blake?” If I wouldn't ask, we'd be standing here forever. I want to lie myself down a comfy bed and rest the whole day. And it ain't gonna happen until we reach the head's office.

“Oh! Sure. Follow me,” he flashed a bright smile before showing us the way to the office. I dragged Gianna with me because seriously, she's still standing there, looking stupid. Still mesmerized.

We stopped in front of a tall building. “This is the Respective Building, where you'll find the Detention Room, Guidance Office, Student Records, Prefect of Discipline, Student Council Office, and the Head's Office.” I nodded while listening. “I think I'll leave the both of you here. I still have something to do. The Head's Office is located on the 4th floor.” He said after reading something on his phone. “Nice seeing you again, Gianna. Nice meeting you also, Sapphire.” He said before he left.

Gianna's eyes followed Blake. I rolled my eyes and went in, leaving Gianna. “Saaaph! Wait for me!” Guess she got over it.

There were a couple of staffs that we encountered. The others greeted us while there are some who just walked by us. I saw an elevator and we went in. I pushed the fourth button and when the elevator doors closed, I saw Gianna's foolish smile.

“He became more handsome.”

How did I ever become her best friend? She started talking and sharing about how she felt awhile ago when she bumped into him. She didn't stop talking, even until we reached the fourth floor. Ugh! I badly want to cut her tongue off.

The head's office was at the corner of the room. I knocked three times and heard a sweet yet intimidating voice coming from inside. I opened the door and an old woman around her 40's approached us. There's a smile on her face, her eyes giving us an intimidating look, curly hair, shaped body that when she turns back, you won't even know that she's old already. She looked stunning on her age.

“You must be the transferees. Hmm. Gianna Ylves and Sapphire Quinzel. Nice to meet the two of you. I'm Head Mistress Beverly Garcia. Welcome to Scarlet Academy.” She offered us a seat in front of her table. “So, I expect that you're here to get the keys to your dorm.”

“Yes. Will you hand it to us already?” I freakin' want to rest already.

“Feisty. Patience Miss Quinzel.” She pulled something from her drawer. “Here you go. The keys to your dorm," she says as she hand us the key. “Just look for Room 546. Girls dormitory is located on the east wing. Go on, now. ”We stood up from our seat. Gianna walked after me. I was about to leave too when the head mistress grabbed my arm. My forehead creased out of confusion. I looked at her confusedly. “You've fully grown.” She let go of my arm. I wondered what she meant. She even smiled at me as if she had known me for a long time. I erased the thoughts away and followed Gianna out of the room.

Okay... That was kinda weird. I took a glance of the Head's Office before leaving.

It was easy to find the Girl's Dormitory because there were no other building located on the east wing. On the gate, "Angel's of the Dawn" were engraved.

As we went inside, the girls started gossiping about us.

“They're so pretty!”

“Newbies? How come they look so gorgeous?”

“Tss. Attention seeker. Obviously weak.”

Gianna and I stopped on our track. Weak. One of the things that I really hate the most is to be called weak. It makes my blood boil. Hearing that word makes me feel that all those sweat at hard work were not enough. It makes me feel that everything I did was put into waste. All the memories flashed back in my mind. Those hurtful memories that keeps on hunting me every time I hear the word weak. Slowly, I looked at the direction of the btch who said that.

“Shit! It's Olivia!”

“I pity them. They just got here but Olivia's already targeting them.”

I heard a lot more whispers from the crowd saying how ruthless Olivia is. Her name was message repeatedly. Even the her name already annoys me. She has this bitchy aura all over her. Her brown eyes says it all. Insecure. A woman full of pride. She looks at us from head to toe. But sorry for her, I won't let her win this. I looked at her coldly, showing her how fierce I am. Throwing her dagger looks that made her step back. I saw how she got startled but she quickly composed herself and looked at me with pride. Pft. Acting tough, eh. No matter how much you hide under your pride, I can still see how much you're afraid. Bitch. “Look what we've got here. Newbies.” she smirked.

“And look what we've got here, Saph. Garbage.” Looks like Gianna has turned on her bitchy mood. I smirked at that thought.

“Yeah. Bunch of trashes.” They got walked towards us with their arms crossed over their chest.

“What did you just say?” Triggered. Pft. How quick. This one's easy.

“Oh. She's not only a trash but also deaf! ” Gianna acted like she was shocked. I want to laugh at Olivia's reaction. This is exciting and hilarious. I've always loved this side of Gianna. She's good at trash talking even though she's very childish most of the time.

“Why you?!?! How dare you talk like that to the Queen!” One of Olivia's minions exclaimed.

“Queen? Pfft. Okay, I apologized. I didn't know that she's a Queen since it's not obvious. But as I look at her now, well I can tell that she is a Queen. Queen of clowns.” Oh how I wish Gianna would be like this all the time. I can see how annoyed Olivia and her followers got. “So where's the birthday party queen?” I heard the crowd burst into laughter.

Olivia raised her hand and it was about to land on Gianna's face when I stopped her arm, holding my grip on it tightly, giving her dagger looks. “Slap her and I'll rip off your head.” I said coldly and that made her gulp and take a step back.. Weaklings.

“L-let go of me y-you...” She stammered, trying to pull her arm from my grip. I smirked. “Seize this girl!” Her bitchy friends were hesitant at first but later on they tried to attack me. But before they could lay their hands on me...

“What's happening here?” said by a lady from my behind. I can sense authority and warning on her voice. Because Olivia kept pulling back her arm, I let her go causing her to fall.

"The Headmistress!”

“The headmistress is here!”

I turned around and saw the head mistress heading our way. Everyone bowed their head as a sign of respect, excluding me and Gianna. She looked at the both of us. “You've just arrived and already bumping into trouble.”

“H-head! I-it was----” I raised my brows as I saw how Olivia acted like she was about to cry. I only tightened my grip on her arm and that's how she's reacting? Lol. She just showed us who's the real weakling.

“Shut your mouth, Miss Paige.” The head mistress turned to the crowd. “What are you waiting for? Get back to your respective dorms!” In just a snap, the hallway was cleared, leaving us alone. “And as for the both of you, try not to be like the other kids.” She sighed. “Hays. Here. I forgot to give this to the both of you.” She handed us a golden card. What's this for? “You're gonna need it to have access on the training room. Now go on. Proceed to your dorm. Next time, behave yourselves.” That were her last words before leaving. Yeah, whatever. I'll behave as long as no one bothers us.

After the incident we looked for Room 546. Not long enough, we were able to find it. Gianna opened the door, and as soon as we stepped in, a loud pop echoed the room and stripped colored paper sprinkled.

“WELCOME TO ROOM 546!”
