BEYANCA'S POV
English class was soon over and it was great. The whole class passed without anyone really recognizing me! Everyone was paying attention to only Mr Woods. He is still as funny as I remember. We all were laughing so hard the whole time. Well obviously all except one brooding ass who was throwing daggers at Mr. Woods with his eyes constantly.
After our conversation earlier, me and Avery did not interact much except for a few laughs that we shared whenever Mr. Woods made a joke. She got busy with her novel and so none of us talked.
I was now picking up my things as everyone was leaving the class. Avery gave me a quick wave and said bye before sprinting out of the room because she had Gym next and she wanted to change before the changing rooms get crowded so that she does not get late.
It was soon only me and Mr. Woods left in the class. I was picking up my last things when I heard his voice.
"How much stuff did you exactly bring?" He said and chuckled after that. I glanced at him and let out a small laugh.
"Just wanted to be prepared for whatever you would've taught!" I said and again looked up at him with a smile.
"Didn't wanna get ribbed mercilessly for forgetting to bring an eraser!" I said holding his gaze. He stared at me for a while. His face contorting in confusion before realization dawned on him. He released a deep breath before speaking.
"Well it was about time Beyanca Marie Westbay!" He said with a growing smile on his face. My smile grew even more at that.
I walked towards him with all of my stuff in my hand.
"Indeed it was Mr. Woods!" I said with my head bobbing continuously and holding back a smile. Ofcourse I couldn't really do that and my lips twitched from the sides. He chuckled at that and patted my head lightly.
"I think it's safe to say that I missed my most favourite student. I'm glad you decided to come back!" He said and I gave him a huge smile.
"Delighted to know that I'm still your most favourite student and I'm glad I came back too." I said with a small smile and Mr. Woods mirrored my expressions.
"Ofcourse you still are! You'll always be. It's not everyday I get students who match my intellect. You are like a Halley's comet!" He said and chuckled making me grin.
"Well I'm afraid I might just be!" I replied and we both broke into a laughter.
He loves Chandler too my friends!
"Anyways, you should really be going if you don't wanna get late. Getting late on your first day may be acceptable but it is definitely not impressive." He said and I nodded and walked out of the class to the locker room.
It felt nice talking to him after so long. Me and Mr. Woods always had this unique student- teacher bond. That is how we always used to talk to each other and it was always so good and refreshing. He is a great mentor and English literature being my favourite, he's my favourite teacher too. Always has been!
I never noticed when I reached the locker room but it was soon. I dropped all of that stuff in my locker and looked at my schedule to see what my next class is gonna be.
Calculus.
I may not hate it but I'm not the biggest fan either!
I'm pretty good at it. However, that does not mean I like it.
I quickly grabbed one of the few things I had which would be useful in the class because I really did not bring anything today and the school provided me with a bunch of pointless papers! There were only a few things useful in that.
After getting those things and looking where my class was gonna be, which was pretty near to the locker room, I made my way there.
The scenario over here was quite the opposite of what it was in my previous class. There was a pin drop silence and everyone was busy solving problems on their own with little to absolutely no noise!
This class is already killing my mood.
With so much quietness I was convinced that the teacher was already in the class but as I entered and looked around, Mrs. Grey, who'll be taking our calculus class, was nowhere to be seen.
I am myself late to the class. Agreed.
Also, Even though I'm gonna be sounding like a complete hypocrite with what I'm about to say next but still,
Talk about punctuality-
Actually don't. The teacher does not know what it is!
*sigh*
________________________________
Classes passed even before I could realize and soon it was lunch time. Quite a few people recognised me during these classes and some of them even talked to me. I still did not meet any of my 'old acquaintances or friends'! Maybe they decided to skip school today.
Whatever!
Works just fine for me.
I do not wanna see their faces anyways!
Now, I was walking towards the locker room to drop the things from the previous class and grab my bag and my mobile phone.
Yes, I do not take it with me to my classes. I want absolutely no distraction when I'm studying. The nerd within me is still very much alive!
I slung my bag on my shoulder and walked out of the locker room to the cafeteria while switching my phone on.
I saw Avery on my way and she made her way towards me after giving me a huge wave.
"Hey" she said as soon as she reached with a huge beautiful smile which is permanent on her face. I replied her with a small 'hi' and a smile of my own.
I've said it once and I'll say it again,
Her smile is so damn infectious.
It feels like a crime not smiling when she does!
"You wanna join me and my friends for lunch?" She asked me with another one of her smile.
She did not even let me speak before she started again.
"C'mon, please. It'll be fun. They all are nice, except for a few, but yes they're great too! Pretty please." She said with a puppy face and then gave another smile after that.
As if I could refuse after that smile-
Also, it would be nice to have some company rather than sitting all alone.
Who knows! Maybe I will make some friends as well!
"Okay- okayyy" I replied while chuckling and her smile turned into a grin on hearing that.
"Let's go!" She said and we walked to the cafeteria.
On reaching the cafeteria, she pointed towards a certain table with many people sitting on it, most of them had their back towards us.
Only three of them were facing towards us and I could only make out one face out of them, as one had his head down and the other one's face was hard to make because he was watching sideways.
I did not notice them much and payed less attention.
I'm gonna see them in a while anyways!
Why make an effort?
Wow, that sounded so much- lazier!
As if I care though! I'm a proud-natural-SLOTH. PERIOD.
I embrace it.
"And there they are." Avery said after she pointed out and we started walking to where the table was.
I stopped midway and Avery turned to me asking what's wrong.
"Nothing. I just need to go buy my lunch. You should go ahead, I'll be back in a while." I replied and she nodded her head. She then went to the table, which was in the centre of the cafeteria and I walked to the queue of people standing to buy their lunches, already knowing what I wanted.
Luckily, it was small and not many people were there.
Most of them initially just glanced at me and then actually looked at me as if realizing something!
They definitely recognised me. It wasn't so hard! Some of them started murmuring among themselves but I paid no attention to them. I was hungry and I wanted food and there was nothing else that could have my attention right now! I kept my phone inside my bag and took out the money I'll be needing for my lunch.
I decided to buy a burger and iced tea and then walked to the table Avery pointed at before.
I could see her sitting between two guys talking to them.
As if sensing me eyes on her, she looked up and gave me another huge smile while waving her hand for me to come over. I gave her a small nod and walked there.
My phone decided to ring just at that time so I held my iced tea burger both in one hand while fumbling with the chain of the bag with other. I was trying to open my bag while still walking towards the table with my lunch in my hand.
I sincerely hope I do not run into someone now. Because- I can see nothing right now except for my bag. My eyes were completely on it and my hair were covering my face.
The phone was still ringing and it may hang-up if I do not pick it up soon. What if it might be dad who's calling? Or Brian? Or maybe the doctor about some news related to mom!?
Even though he'd call dad ot Brian if something happens and not me but just what if? Let's keep it as a possibility.
I knew I was nearing the table as I could her Avery's voice getting louder and clear.
"And here she is." I heard Avery saying just when I got a hold of my mobile phone. I skillfully took it out of my bag and looked up while answering the call. I balanced it between my ear amd shoulder before looking up at the eight pair of eyes already looking at me with curiosity on their faces which quickly turned into something else.
I scanned the table and saw the overly familiar faces looking right back at me, especially a certain someone.
"Beyanca, everyone. Everyone, Beyanca!" Avery said introducing me to everyone. As if I needed to be introduced to them!
But well she dosen't know that.
"She's new here." She continued while giving a huge smile my way.
Only if she knew that I'm actually one of the oldest!
I smiled back at her and then moved my eyes further to look at the person beside her.
My eyes once again made contact with the all-too-familiar green eyes and this time I looked straight into it.
Still looks the same.
Oliver Ryder, ladies and Gentlemen.
