As I walk through the street, I hear an excited howl directed at me. I look towards the wolf. Alistare. The sky green, white and black wolf. He has had a crush on me ever since he laid eyes on me. We met in high school in chemistry class, when it happened, he dropped a vial of sulphuric acid on the floor. It was a catastrophe, the fire department came and it was a big scene. Since then, he has been desperately trying to win me over by impressing me. What is it this time? "Hey Aria! Why were you at a school today? Transcript?" Alistare telepathically babbles. I mentally roll my eyes, "Hi Alistare, I was at the school to do a history lesson to Mrs. Fowl's class." I say. "Wow, what kind of history? The war? The prophecy?" Alistare rambles. "Actually, both. The kids didn't know either of them surprisingly." I look back and say. "Oh wow." Alistare says surprised. "Well, I love talking with you, but I have to get going to the headquarters Alistare." I say with a strained smile. "Oh ok. I understand." Alistare says with a frown. "Bye Aria!" He runs off. "Whew." I sigh out. I start to pick up my speed.
As I reach the headquarters, I feel an eerie presence. My snout starts to go into a growl. I catch a scent behind me. "Grr." The creature pounced on me and I swept my back legs underneath theirs. I jumped on the creature and put my front paws on it's neck, growling menacingly. "Well, you've gotten better at your sensing, hey Aria?" The creature says. As I adjust my eyes, I see that I actually attacked my rival, Logan. His fur black with a Shuriken symbol his forehead. "Logan! Don't ever do that! I almost killed you!" I angrily chastise while I get off him.
"I thought you could work on sneak attacks from behind. You haven't changed Ar." Logan laughs. "Sigh, Logan, you're such an idiot... One day you're going to get yourself killed one day. Well are you going to the meeting that's starting in a few minutes, or not?" Logan smirks and chuckles. "No, i'm not saying it, Logan. Trends these days..." I roll my eyes with disapproval. "Well you could say...Or nah?" Logan howls with laughter. "Are you going or not?!" I growl. Logan winces. "Yeah I am! Jeez!" He folds his ears down and starts to walk towards the headquarters.
When we enter the building, surprisingly everyone is in their regular forms. Usually, when we have a meeting, they're in their wolf forms. "Aria, you're here! Come sit down, there's new news. I heard it's really important! Bransen, my best friend who is basically the smartest person in the pack. He got ninety's in all of his high school classes and he uses the smarts to protect humanity and all shifters in the wolf guard. He may be the nerd of the group, but he is a great fighter also. He took down four people in initiation and only got out with a bruise. Me and Bransen go way back, to the first year of high school. He was being bullied by a punk named Micheal, I intervened and we became friends ever since. "I'm coming you weirdo!" I chuckle and shift to my humanoid form. Bransen runs to his seat with his brown hair flowing from behind. "You gonna sit, Ar?" Logan teases. "Yeah, yeah, you jerk." I smirk at him and punch his shoulder.
I take a seat and glance around the room, there's computers and trackers everywhere. We're in the conference room and all there is is just a white board and chairs for planning. "Everyone, please get seated and get comfortable. Today is a rowdy and different day, as you noticed. This is a more serious matter as we're not in our native forms. We have troubling news, the Dusk walkers are moving in more numbers. They're killing double the amount of humans these couple of weeks." Lex, the head of the guard informs us. His dark red locks always captivate me, his neon green eyes are like looking into a forest, a never ending forest. I had fancied him since he came to my high school, he started out as being a jock, but then he had a thing for computers. How they worked, how to hack, thing's like that. We met by me sitting in the cafeteria alone, he asked if he could sit with me and he sat with me ever since. I don't know if he notices, but I get flustered every time he flexes or ruffles his hair. Anyway, back to the subject.
"I need someone to scout the nearest city, Moncton. We need to know why they're increasing their numbers, people. Who will volunteer for this task?" Lex asks us. "How many people do you need sir? One or two?" Raven asks with enthusiasm. Lex looks at her and says nonchalantly, "Just one, Raven." Raven's smile dissipates. I sigh and raise my hand. "I will Lex, it's been a long time since I've been on the field." Lex looks at me with a surprised expression. "Are you sure Ar? You don't have to you know." I roll my eyes. "Yes Lex, I can do this. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it." "Sigh, alright. Come with me to get you ready." Lex gives in.
