Digging up the Past

Alice’s question made Elijah snapped out of his thoughts.

“Ahh- nothing. How are you going down to the basement?”

“Oh, I’m just going to watch the footage later.”

He remembered he didn’t see any ramps at their front door when a family member went out. He asked about this.

“They would put a simple plank on the steps, and they’d help me down. I rarely leave the house because I have everything I need here. That’s why my skin is so white.”

Alice spends most of her time researching. She’s 17 and already started a Ph.D. in evolution and another in cell development biology.

She lacks vitamin D, but her skin is well-protected from the harsh radiation of the sun. Alice mentioned something about cellular degeneration and DNA mutation. Elijah had to admit that her skin was flawless and smooth.

“Did you forget I have super strength?” Elijah said walking up to Alice.

The chains of his handcuffs clinked as he moved.

Alice’s eyes widened, and she said, “Wait, don’t!”
