He sits at his table while he sees his brother eating at his. On his table is the usual toast with water. The boy munches his toast then sips his water slowly, digesting his meal for the day. As the food enters his stomach, he hears distant sounds of cereal banging against a porcelain bowl, like the rain hitting against the window on his side. He looks up and sees a new presence, a lady dressed in maid clothing pouring a box of cereal for his brother. The door on the other side opens, revealing a woman and a man. They are the parents of his brother. They greet his brother and the maid then proceed to eat their breakfast.
The door on his side opens, revealing a figure. The figure is clad in an all-black butler outfit. The figure reached out a hand, beckoning the boy to abandon his breakfast and follow him. The boy stands up and follows the figure. They pass through a corridor, the rain still pattering and knocking on the window. They want to come in and shower on the boy. The boy would have let the windows open a long time ago had it not been for the figure clad in all black who stopped him years ago.
The corridor houses tables, on which houses photo frames. In the frames, they show a picture of the boy with three other people. A man, a woman, and his brother. The boy never smiles in these pictures. A tap on the floor by the figure's feet snatches the boy's attention away from the pictures and he walks faster.
The boy arrives at his door. The door's knob is glistening silver, though it has rusted in some parts. The door frame is made of simple wood but its intricate design makes it seem more bourgeoise than it should be. He opens the door. Contrasting to the simple door, the room is very much fancy. Gold dotted around the place, a fireplace cackling at the bedside, the bed being way too large for the boy. A chandelier hangs from the top providing light to all parts of the room. But this is not where the boy stays.
He walks to the far-right corner of the room with the figure overtaking him to stand in the corner.
"Password," the figure asks.
"My mind is mine only. My mind is for no one else to mind. My room is here and not outside, though it is better for others to think otherwise," the boy responds.
The figure opens the door, revealing a smaller room than the one first seen that was dotted in gold around the place, a fireplace cackling at the bedside, the bed way being way too large for the boy. This room is made of grey stone, has no fireplace, and a bed that is the correct size of the boy. He sits at the side of the bed, sorting his thoughts while the figure outside morphs into the boy, taking his place in the first room.
After eating his sugary cereal drenched in milk, he sees his parents and greets them with overbearing enthusiasm. He drops his spoon in his excitement, only to have his maid pick it up and wash it in the sink. He follows his parents to the library where he will receive his book, a special one. This book is heirloom of the family and has been passed down for several generations. Only the successful of the family can receive it.
He skips down the corridor with each hand holding to his parents and a lollipop hanging on his mouth. The corridor is drenched in white and gold. It has chandeliers drooping in from the tall ceiling yet somehow illuminating their portion of the corridor brightly.
They arrive by the door of the library. This door is large, reaching form ceiling to floor, made of thick sturdy wood. Its knob is made of glistening gold. Opening the door, he sees a myriad of bookshelves which in it contains books that are arranged by color. There is a large fireplace that simmers at the side. Near the fireplace are comfy couches clad in cyan circling a round table. The man snickers at him, beckoning him to abandon the fireplace and he does so with disappointment. The man leads him to another door. The man stands by the door.
"This door houses the book that you will receive. Something decided since birth. You shall enjoy the book and its contents because I have done so," the man said.
"Yes, I will," he responds.
The man opens the door. Behind that door is a large and empty room in all dark bar a light that shines on a lone pillar. Atop the pillar is a black book, and some words in gold on it cover. The man strides haughtily with a grin on his face to the book. He yanks the book away from the pillar, and shoves it to him. He receives the book and reads the title, 'Mankind's worst nightmares' by Arthur J. Franklin.
"That right there is 'Mankind's best achievements' by Arthur J. Franklin and it showcases this family's achievements. Soon, I need you to be there too. Continue our legacy!" The man says with an exuberant voice.
He was clearly confused because the titles are total opposites. Nevertheless, he just accepts it with confidence.
Arthur steps out of his room. He senses his book being taken out. Once he steps out of the room, he asks the figure to change back into its original form, for now it is his turn to guide the young ones to steer away from the wicked ways of the world.
