10 October XX05. A day of joy and happiness for a young couple living in the village located close to the coasts of the Empire. A day they had anticipated 10 months earlier. The birth of their first child. They had gotten married on this very same day a year back. They hadn't planned it to happen on the same day; nonetheless it made it a much more joyous occasion.

The village nurse is present with the wife preparing for the arrival of the baby. The anxious husband and soon father-to-be is holding his wife's hand tightly. Her nails dug deep into his hands until a little blood can be seen. But he did not care. He knew how painful childbirth is. He let Adria hold on to him as long as she needed.

Adria didn't know she was hurting Josiah that much. The pain was overbearing and with the constant almost nagging-like voice of the nurse it made it much more unbearable. It was like a trying to fit a log of wood into a hole in a wall.

Minutes passed and the baby's head could be seen.

"Push more Adria!"

Then the eyes.

"C'mon!"

Then the neck.

"A bit more, Adria!"

The tension could be cut with a single hair follicle. Unknowingly, Josiah's forehead started to sweat. Salty water droplets trickled down his face and to the bottom lip. He wiped it away. Then, his focus was broken and he realized Adria's hand dug so deep into his hand he could no longer feel it. It had gotten white and pale and numb. No longer was he feeling it.

With one last push, Adria finally got the baby out. A red, slimy, and silent baby was finally born. Adria coddled the baby in her arms. Like a true mother.

Josiah wanted to hug her to no end, but in fear of hurting his baby he restrained his urges. Instead, his arm wrapped around her neck and his head nuzzled on her collarbone.

"What are we going to name…' he looked at the baby, 'him?"

Adria pondered. She only ever expected a baby girl. It hadn't occurred to her that a baby boy may come out instead.

On the spur of the moment, she decided. "Jordan. Jordan Carter."
