Cannonade

Casper-Sky, the new fighter, raises her right hand towards the Slammer. As if reacting to her intention, the right bracer engulfs into red before transforming itself into a red arm cannon.

A plasma bullet expels from the cannon barrel which flies through the air at great speed. The bullet blows up when it contacts the skin of the monster, irritating it further.

No visible damage can be seen so Casper-Sky continued her assault. For every three shots she expels, the arm cannon seemingly disables itself and cools down.

As the assault continues, Defender pries her way out of the debris to freedom. With the range assistance she is getting, the Defender didn't hesitate to bolt into action to pin the tail of the monster with a punch.

The punch barely deals any damage, and Defender is once more hit by a tail slap. The Slammer's arm becomes irritated as more plasma bullets impact the creature. This irritates the eagle as the new found power proves to be useless.

A scimitar descends to her, forcing her to move out of the way. Dismissing her arm cannon, she decides to pick up an assault rifle from a fallen soldier.

"What the…" The assault rifle glows red like the bracer and merges with her right arm. A new arm cannon -no- an assault rifle attaching on her arm, takes her arm's place. The new weapon is mostly in crimson, with green neon lights highlighting the barrel.

'Interesting…' Casper-Sky fires the gun to the Slammer at a rapid pace. The new bullets have the same level of power as the arm cannon before but the new bombardment of attacks shows to be effective.

The creature raises one of its arms to cover its face from the barrage of attacks. On the other side, the Defender returns into the fight by jumping high enough to do another punch.

Electricity coats the arm and the punch lands on the shoulder of the target. Electrocution inbounds as the attack contacts, stunning the Glitch and dislocating the shoulder.

In pain, the creature instinctively drops it's scimitar and lowers it's guard from the barrage of bullets. Without any guard against the bullets, more pain overwhelms it. Lashing out becomes the only option, and it takes it without hesitation.

The serpentine tail flails about without a care, bringing unfortunate walls and asphalt into a crumbling mess. Scimitar wildly swings around as the naga creature zigzag around to create as much chaos as possible.

Both fighters create some distance away from the chaos to gain a moment of reprieve and strategize.

"Any bright ideas?" Casper-Sky asks the Defender who is panting to get some air.

"We have to pin it down," she gestures to the rampaging beast that is coming their way. "But I can't get near it."

They hop away from the naga as it slithers past them at the speed of a car. Casper-Sky, with her wings, shoots herself to the sky and hovers without worry. The eagle bombards the naga from the air with her assault rifle.

With it's agility, the Slammer avoids some of the bullets in the storm. Many lightly grazed it, and those that directly hit it didn't deal too much damage. However, the bombardment is painful regardless.

Defender looks around before noticing a fallen electric pole. With a plan in mind, she effortlessly picks up the pole and crouches, ready for the snake to present an opportunity to strike.

Having enough of the bullet storm, the Slammer coils itself, enduring more attacks, and springs itself up to the air with a hiss.

At least, that is what it wants. It immediately feels pain at the tail, as something pierces it. The body stretches itself and immediately crashes back to the earth.

Casper-Sky looks at the lynchpin that Defender plants. It squarely pierce through the tail and plants into the asphalt road.

With their target unable to escape, Casper-Sky places both of her hands and creates a new reaction. The assault rifle and the left bracer glow and merge together into a large arm cannon. The barrel of the cannon hums as plasma gathers in the barrel.

The Slammer screeches in the air, angry at the eagle trying to end it's existence. It wants to live and continue it's rampage. But first it has to remove the pole that pins it down.

It turns around to its tail to reach out to the pole. The Defender would not allow that, she slams her forearms together and generates electricity to begin her finisher. She didn't bother letting the bolts stabilize before thrusting out to shoot it.

With the creature stunt, Casper-Sky safely charges up the plasma in a few seconds before the hum reaches the crescendo.

"Move out of the way!"

The Defender hops away from the Slammer before a laser blast impacts the ground. The plasma is merciless as it incinerates everything in its path. The monster feels its existence disappearing as the flesh burns away.

With a last scream of pain, it disappears from existence.

The plasma blast slowly dissipates into nothingness.

The night, while noisy, has finally quelled its chaos.

Casper-Sky feels exhaustion taking over her as she slowly descends from the dark sky. The large arm cannon rematerializes into its bracer form, the assault rifle could not be found. The pair of silver wings folds itself into a pack and expels smoke from it with a hiss.

The Defender morphs back to her original human form and wipes away some sweat. She approaches her comrade who didn't return to her original form.

"Do we still have more trouble?" An exhausted huff and a deep breath. "I'm too exhausted to maintain my Defender form."

"The tear in space still needs to be closed." The commander begins to move towards the broken mess of the artillery cannon. "We need to patch it so no more Glitches can come out."

"You're planning to fuse it with the cannon?"

The commander nods and lays her hand on the cannon. Like before, the cannon glows and merges with Casper-Sky. However, this time her entire body merges with the cannon and appears in a new form.

The new form appears as a bulkier form of her previous form, with her wings bigger than before and a large cannon in her merged arms. The armor parts extend to every part of her body, making her look bloated.

Casper-Sky floats near the ground, finding it unnecessary to take into the sky once more. Xing Tian takes out her Magia and follows the commander, ready to defend her even in a weaker state.

Both of them remain silent for most of the way. The only noises are the sounds of gunfire and Xing Tian taking down any Glitches that are too close.

When they are near the tear in space, Casper-Sky heaves her arm cannon with a grunt and aims the barrel at the tear.

"Make way! I am sealing the tear now!" Casper-Sky announces to her soldiers. Without acknowledging her comrades, the cannon hums in power and shoots out a neon blast.

The blast disintegrates any Glitches that are in the way and continues it's path. When it hits the portal, said target looks like absorbing the blast before shrinking into non-existence.

With the portal sealed, Casper-Sky morphs back to her human form and allows her body to fall. Xing Tian catches her in time and slowly lays her down. She could tell the commander is wholly exhausted and the addition of the wound before did not help.

"Let the others clean up the remaining stragglers. With the tear sealed, there isn't much to worry about anymore."

Xing Tian nods before slinging Aquila's arm over her shoulder. She can hear a siren coming their way, most likely the medics and repairs team.

"I think you just took away the repairs team's work when you absorbed the cannon."

Aquila chuckles. "Well, it was the best course of action. We need to ensure as little damage as possible."

Both Aquila and Xing Tian slowly walk towards the van, avoiding as many battles as possible.

With the previous battle far too chaotic, neither of the girls notices Noelle gets to the crater where the Slammer died. In the crater, a green orb rests there as if nothing damages it. She picks up the orb without a word before leaving the crater.

Noelle fishes out a phone and taps it a few before placing it to her ears.

"You found another one?" She can hear a disembodied voice from the other side.

"A green one this time. What do we do with it?"

"Same as the previous one. Bring it to Tom and get his team to make a new armor set." Noelle nods.

"I will write a report to you and Tom tomorrow about the prototype Casper-Sky armor set." Hopefully she doesn't need to write what happened in the battle, as it is pure chaos.

"Very well, I will send you the money when I receive the report."

With that, Noelle disconnects the call and pockets her phone. She returns to the van, noticing doctors helping Xing Tian and Aquila to heal their wounds.

Suppressing a yawn, Noelle wishes the night is still young enough for her to get her beauty sleep.
