Troubled Truths

Maria punched the wall to revert her to her normal outfit. She was still shaking in fear. "Shit… I have to calm down…." She took a wavering breath and let it out.

She looked around with her neon eyes to see if anyone was watching her and was thankful when she didn't see anyone. She decided that she would go home. She walked out of the alley, making her walk directly towards her home. She was going to have to figure out what to do about her concert and what to do about her issue of having committed a murder. She was 'hardcore' in the villain world, but in the hero world, she was going to be the primary target numero uno.

She looked at her wristwatch as it started to beep. She frowned at it and punched the wall, changing into her pink outfit. She cursed under her breath as she ran to the scene. Of course, she would beat the others there. She was there. She entered the warehouse, HeroTV watching her as Barnaby and Kotetsu made the scene next. The three of them were inside, capturing the villains.

Barnaby had walked over to the guy on the ground and looked to Fate before looking to Kotetsu and calling him over. "Tiger, we need to talk about this."

Kotetsu looked at him and glanced to Maria, giving a pout. "Why leave her out of it though?"

Barnaby stared at his partner and gave a groan. "Because look at how he was killed…."

Kotetsu looked at the body and frowned at the realization as to how he was killed. Kinetic energy overloaded into the dead man's body. He glanced to Maria, who was busy bringing the captured villains out while saying who caught who. He frowned as he looked at Barnaby. "She couldn't have… I mean… she's too soft… and innocent to do something like this…"

Barnaby sighed. "I know… but we will have to be careful. I assume Twisted did this since I saw her running out of here earlier after I heard an explosion. No two NEXT's have the same abilities unless they're Kaede since she's a copycat NEXT. So whoever did this has to be the same person as Fate."

Kotetsu glared at Barnaby. "Fate isn't a killer, Bun. Plus she controls items. She can't do other things like touch someone and boom, they explode… erm… implode"

Barnaby looked at the guy and then back to Kotetsu. "I know what I saw and I am sticking with my theory. The evidence is staring us in the face, unless you know of something else for this, Tiger."

Maria stepped back into the warehouse and looked at them. "They've left so we should leave too. Thanks for coming in as quickly as you did."

The two looked over at her, Kotetsu smiling at her and Barnaby giving his usual 'don't bother me I'm a badass' aura. Maria waved at them, her hands showing they were burnt. She turned around and left the building and headed towards her home. "Shit… I didn't need to see the terrified guy's face again…"

Barnaby looked at Kotetsu and gave a droll stare. "Her hands were… burnt?" the tiger asked the blonde rabbit.

Barnaby gave a nod and sighed. "Let's leave. I don't have enough evidence to bring her in and question her about this… or to arrest her…"

Kotetsu nodded at his partner as the two left. Meanwhile, Maria had reverted back to her normal outfit. She shivered slightly as the cool air surrounded her. She bumped into a blonde male who wore a letterman jacket. She glanced up to see none other than Ivan Karelin.
