Galaxy In Chaos

~~~(POV: Marisa Opal)~~~
~~~(Location: Opal Palace, Alderaan)~~~

"Lady Opal, your daughter is here to see you."

One of my many servants informs me that Nella is on her way here. My daughter has been doing good in her studies, but since the revelations on the list Nathan posted on the Holo-Net. Everything has been canceled on Alderaan.

My nephew has garnered a large and formidable reputation over the years. Ever since Lillis and Jorand... I can't even think about that... If I have such a hard time, I can't imagine what Nathan felt while on Ryloth.

After a couple of minutes, my daughter walks into the room and joins me on the couch. I stop the Holo-Recording of The Senates debate and look at her.

She's grown into a beautiful young woman. As much as I don't like it, she's gotten the attention of all the young noblemen, as well as the old ones too.

"Your 17th birthday is approaching, my daughter. Have you given any thoughts on what you'd like as a gift?"

Being the most powerful house on Alderaan means we have a lot of money to go with our status and political pull. After invasion all those years ago, house Opal rose from it all stronger than ever. And ever since grandpa passed, I've been leading the house.

We Alderaanians love to brag and gloat. And I'll admit, I do it on occasion too. I can say with 100 percent confidence that I've led the house perfectly since grandpa passed. He taught me everything he knew.

"I've been so busy with school that I haven't given it any real thought, Mother... Off the top of my head, I'd love to see Coruscant in person..."

Ahh, yes... Her obsession with seeing Coruscant... As from what's on the Holo-Net, Coruscant isn't the best place to be given what's happening inside The Republic and The Senate.

She sees my look and instantly knows my answer. I don't like telling my daughter no, but she needs to understand that Coruscant isn't a safe place. Only when this recent fiasco is dealt with, then we can go there.

"Don't worry, Nella. When the time comes, we'll go there. It just won't be on your birthday. With The Senate and The Republic dealing with the traitors and spies, it's not safe to be there. House Opal can't be seen in such an environment."

My daughter is special in many ways, and one of them is being a brilliant politician. And an understanding person. She doesn't resent me or holds it against me for saying no. It's because she understands that it's not safe there.

A couple of days have passed since Nathan did what he did, and things have only gotten hotter on the political scene. For both The Sith Empire and The Republic. As an Alderaanian Noble, I'm more concerned about what's happening on Alderaan.

But I'm not ignorant nor blind to the problems beyond my home. What affects the galaxy at large will also affect Alderaan. There is no avoiding it.

"Then how about we go sky sailing, Mother? I heard that it's an icre-!"

Before my daughter can't finish her sentence, a man in our house's armor bursts through the door out of breath, we were both startled by the sudden entry, and I'm about to reprimand the guard when I see his face. It's a face you see only when something important has popped up.

"Out with it!"

I'm still angry, but that's on the back burner for now. Why a guard is here is unknown to me. If it's important they could've used a Holo-Com.

"It's your nephew, Lady Opal..."

Nathan? Why would he be talking about Nathan? He finishes catching his breath and stands up straight.

"Nathan is here... On Alderaan... He's on his way here..."

What!?

"Tell the servants and guards to prepare a warm welcome for my nephew! It's been almost 12 years since I last saw him! He's a member of House Opal, and we'll be greeting him as such!"

The guard salutes me and takes off to inform everyone. I turn and see my daughter really happy, and nervous. She's always wanted to meet Nathan, after hearing stories about him. And what he's done all over the galaxy.

"What do you think he looks like now, Mother?"

All of a sudden, a painful wave of regret, sadness, and loneliness enter my being...
