~~~(POV: Nathen Opal)~~~
~~~(Location: Senate Building, Coruscant)~~~
"That was the first time I met Nate in person. I had to talk with his mom and dad and try to convince them to let him join the Order. In the end, they all talked as a family. And that's when Nate started to live on Tython."
Nella and Satele are talking near the window of the room we're in. Marisa is next to me as my Apprentice is speaking with my older Master. It's times like these I wish I could find out where Master Caleb went.
As the two of them talk over there. Marisa pulls me aside, and we're able to talk without being heard. I can tell from the look in her eyes there is a lot she wants to talk about.
It's likely she's heard about Nella and I's exploits around the galaxy so far. I've been taking her daughter to dangerous places, and that's not what she would agree with.
"I already know what you're going to say with a face like that."
She's not amused at my attempt to lighten the mood a little. I know Marisa could never hate me, or something like that. That doesn't mean she can't be angry with me. That's something she's allowed to be. Especially if she's heard all the stories.
"You promised me that you'd keep her out of harm's way. That you would protect her. Imagine my shock when I hear about Tatooine and Lothal."
Her voice is calm, but the underlining message of threat is clear in her voice.
"I have kept her out of harm's way, and I have protected her. She's more powerful than you think now. She's taken to the training extremely well."
I know my attempts are feeble at best. But there isn't anything I can truly say to stop Marisa from having doubts now that Nella is back in front of her.
Before we can continue talking, Nella makes her way over with a smile, and Marisa's attitude does a 180. Nella looks at me and takes a breath.
"Satele said she wanted to speak with you in private."
Figures, I think I know what's about to be asked of me. But I'm still on my own journey. I've come to Coruscant to get a new ship. If I can, I'll try to find out where SCORPIO is. But if she keeps my ship, Valkorion will eventually get his hands on it.
Meaning he'll have access to my life's history. The terminals on that ship have everything I've stolen from the Jedi Temple when I was younger.
"Mom, can you show me around the Senate Building? Maybe we can see the Senate Chambers too!"
Nella is able to get Marisa out of the room with relative ease. I turn my head, and Satele is staring at me with her hands behind her back. The passing traffic of Coruscant outside of it in the distance.
I make my way over, and I stand next to her. Looking out the window. She turns around and does the same thing.
"Mind if I ask what you're doing on Coruscant?"
That's not the first thing I thought she'd ask. But I do like she's putting off the fact she'll ask for my help soon.
"My ship was stolen. I'm here to buy a new one."
She looks at me with a raised eyebrow and a surprised look.
"It's a long story."
She accepts the answer, and we go back to silence.
"Why do you want my help, Satele? I've already told you this isn't my war."
A long sigh escapes her lips, and she takes a few steps back to sit down on the couch. I turn to see her running a hand through her hair. She's stressed. It's not something I've seen Satele go through before.
"I hadn't realized how hard this war would really be. It's worse than the one that led us here. Maybe it's because I'm leading it... It hurts that you think I only want your help..."
It's the truth, though. She needs my help in her mind. But I don't see how my interference in this war would benefit anybody. I'll kill many more than I'll save.
"I want you to help me take an important Imperial world. Ziost. I had it at the start of the war, but I had to give it up after the Empire took Corellia."
Ziost. The world where everything changed in the video game.
