Shawn Davis

Michael's POV

Shawn Davis, the guy who was the heartthrob of almost half of the university, the guy who once dated Linda was the guy who did not have any kind of social media presence. Sure, for a recluse like me lack of social media would make more sense, but for someone as popular as him, it didn't feel right.

Of course I shouldn't try to judge a book by it's cover. I have seen many actors, famous personalities lacking social media, so why can't a campus eye candy not have one? The factor that deepened my suspicion was this petry's roar at the sight of shawn. Is he dangerous? Or is he carrying something dangerous?

A part of me wants to believe that this is all just my paranoia, that its a part of Petry thingy's craziness, but I have seen this little puppy like monster do wonders, and I wouldn't be surprised that Shawn actually was someone who was upto no good.

Not knowing anything about him makes it a bit harder for me to search details on him. There are some of his fangirls who might know some important things about him, but the problem is I don't know anyone who happens to be his fan and won't run away from me upon asking.

There was Linda who might be able to tell me something. As his ex girlfriend she might have some, if not all the dirt on him. But somehow it didn't seem like the right time to bother her. Should I just wait? But what if he is really someone dangerous and I am too late?

Suddenly I felt something in my pocket once I put my hands in them once the dilemma overtook me. Frowning, I took out the metal and recalled that it was a key to the staff room Professor Hannigan gave me to get my report this morning. Dang it! I forgot to return it. Taking a deep breath I shake my head when suddenly an idea hits me.

I try to run towards the university only to be almost tripped by this Petry. "Come on! It's been an entire day. Let go of me"! I scream at him. After much effort including but not limited to kicking him away did I finally manage to detach myself from it. I ran as soon as I was free, partly because I was in a hurry and rest because I had to get away from this annoying magical creature.

Luckily the gates to the university had bars which meant that despite being closed I could simply climb on it and cross over the other side. Hurrying my way in, I headed for the empty staff room. I looked around for any signs of the presence of another individual or any running CCTV camera for that matter before I entered the key in it's lock. Look at me, sneaking around in the place of academia like this. What have I become?

I went to the cabinet where all the student details were kept. There was meant to be some or the other details on him as it was mandatory to collect for admission here. I was surprised to see the cabinet unlocked but didn't fathom much over it and pulled the files out. One by one I kept searching for the name Shawn Davis from his department. After thirty-fifth file I finally found the one I was looking for.

On a closer look I noticed some details about him, like the name of his parents, Julian and Hannah Davis. His address was listed as Altadena. Even all of the contacts were mentioned. This file seemed genuine enough that I started to question myself. "Why the hell am I doing"? I asked myself out loud. No matter how many times I tried to convince myself that I was being crazy and that I needed to abort this I couldn't just deny my own gut.

Taking a deep breath I dialed the number which was addressed to his parents and waited for the call to be picked up. Halfway through the ringtone I realised that it was better not to use my own name, so when the lady picked up from the other end I introduced myself as, "hello, Mr and Mrs Davis? I am Charles Hannigan. I am Shawn's teacher."

"Oh yes, how may I help you"? She answered. So they were Shawn's Parents. Feeling like a colossal idiot I found myself hitting my forehead before I tried to think of a proper explanation as to why I called them.

"I was hoping to talk about his... assignment that I gave him." my excuse increased my urge to bang my forehead on any of the four walls that I am surrounded with.

"Oh, don't worry Mr Hannigan, I will make sure he does all his assignments on time." The lady answered from the other end.

"I am sure you would" I admitted awkwardly, "But what I meant was he is late for his assignment. He was supposed to submit yesterday, but he didn't and missed a week's class" I said. That part was true. I did see him roam around with some girl while I was on my way to class. The very fact that he was in my building and not his was evidence that he indeed missed his classes.

"Missed a week's class?" She panicked on the other end. "How is it possible? I drop him off and pick him up daily from the school"! She uttered as panic struck her.

"What?" I whispered. "I thought you guys lived in Altadena" I mumbled.

"So?" She barked.

"That's too far for daily travel don't you think?" I asked. As far as I am aware they would need a train or a plane to make it daily. Was he that rich? What was going on? I felt a tinge of headache hit me as I was filled with confusion once more.

"Far"? She huffed. "It's a twenty minute car ride to Eliot Arts Magnet School" She huffed.

"Magnet school"? My confusion and suspicion raised its peak once more. "If you don't mind me asking, how old is your son exactly"?

"He is 12. Why?" The woman herself sounded confused now.

"Nothing, I think I have the wrong number. I am a Professor from Milton University.

"University"? She scowled from the other end. "Yeah you got the wrong number." And she hung up just like that. If I was not so distracted I would probably be fuming over her rudeness, but I was too occupied with Shawn's identity now. Not only did he steal someone else's identity he managed to keep it under wraps so well. Who was he for real then? I had to find out.
