"You saved me"

Michael's POV

This was a big revelation. I needed to tell someone before something goes down the rail. I cannot believe we were so easily fooled by a guy like him. Although, in my defense I didn't have any reason to suspect him earlier. In fact, I barely knew him. My gut screamed at me that he was a goblin, or at least something supernatural. The way this Petry reacted to this 'Shawn' was something that she did on something unusual. The usual here is humans, so he must be pretty unusual.

I headed off straight towards Cassie's house hoping to find Sofsys there while at the same time I tried to call Cassie who for some reason did not pick up. Was she still mad at me? I mean I get it but this was an emergency. I texted her that it was important but she didn't see it yet.

Her place was near, but not that close to the campus. Somehow the adrenaline rush in my system made this distance seem longer than it should. On my way I noticed a familiar face headed off to somewhere. It was Shawn no doubt, but his actions made me suspicious of him. What was he upto?

I halted in my way and tried my best to follow him with my eyes. When it got difficult for me to do so along with my increasing suspicion on him I finally followed him on foot. I didn't know where he was headed, but I had to find out.

He got out of the campus into the busy street of the city making it extremely hard for me to keep up. On the contrary, it made it easier for me to blend into the crowd. At the edge of the street he decided to walk into the relatively empty park through which he entered a shady looking building. I tried my call again but it directly went to voice-mail.

Exasperated, I took a deep breath as I stared intently at the building. I waited a little bit for him to come out but when he didn't I seriously considered going in. Would I ever get inside such a shady place? No… but this time I felt I needed to do this. What if whatever he is doing is a way to figure out who he is?

Mustering up all the courage in me that I had I entered the building. Call me scaredy cat, but I did not enjoy putting my life in danger for no reason. Once I was in the door I heard some gurgling noise upstairs.

I approached the stairs very carefully so as to not make any noise and draw attention. Once I was upstairs I saw only one room with the door open, thus concluding that it is where 'Shawn' was.

I crouched at the edge of the door peeking into the room for any clue of what was going inside the room. Thank God I had my glasses on me or else I'd be totally lost in this dimly lit building.

After several minutes of nothing, I put my head inside. My body followed soon as all I could spot was some old furniture. I looked around the room carefully for any sign of...well anything which would give me a f***king clue as to why someone would come here at all.

"Hello Michael" a deep voice from my back released me from my trance as I shifted my gaze from the old lamp to 'Shawn'.

"Shawn" I mumbled. I dunno where I got the courage to talk to him but I felt bodacious. "Or whatever your real name is".

A tiny but evil smirk appeared on the corner of his lips. It was subtle but not enough to evade my eyes, "I suppose… I can tell you" he took a few steps towards me as I fought with my own instinct to back off. "It will be terrible not to honor your last wish" he uttered with a sickeningly sweet voice that made me feel my own goosebumps.

"What do you want?" I asked, trying my best to hide my reluctance.

"I was here simply to keep an eye… until you got my tail and tried to ruin things for me". He mumbled with distaste.

"Eye on?" I whispered. He simply deepened his smirk in response. "Aren't you a deceitful piece of s**t"! I huffed.

"Am I? Probably that's why I am called Dolion". He scoffed before glaring at me. I gulped involuntarily before taking a step back. Unfortunately my foot fell on something and I slipped before landing on my butt.

A low laughter emerged from the guy, Dolion, in front of me. Before I could react he reached out and pulled me by my collar. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't free myself out of his grip. Was he even a human? Wait, of course not!

"Aghhh"! He pushed me back and the moment he released me, my lower half hit a wall before I fell from the top floor.

I wasn't sure what happened next. Everything happened so fast that all I could comprehend was incoherent screaming, probably coming from myself, and a huge gust of wind hitting my back.

I expected to pass out, to hit my head somewhere before everything blackened. Imagine my surprise when I stopped midway. Or was I dead floating in heaven? Carefully I opened my eyes to see that indeed I was floating mid way and a chirping noise from below confirmed the source of my float.

"F**k"! I heard Dolion swear above me. I looked up at his red face with a smug smile on mine. My feet touched the land and before he could do something about it he himself was thrown off his feet as he floated further away into the sky.

He flung his arms and legs frantically trying to regain control over his own body. Like a crashing plane he plummeted to his death once he hit the ground right in front of me.

I put my hand in front of my face correctly anticipating the upcoming blood splatter and tried not to vomit on the spot. I looked at his body, lying there lifeless as the horror of what would happen next hit me. Will I end up being convicted as the murderer?

Before I lost my calm I saw the body in front of me morph into sand and soon it became one with the soil. Terrified but amazed I looked at the happily chirping Petry… "You saved me" I snorted.
