"Are we seriously going to wear that?",asked Natalie
"Yes, what's the problem with that?",asked Eva scowling
"I mean they are pretty, but we are all wearing the same outfits?",asked Emily
"Why Emily? Is that a problem?", asked Eva.
Emily frowned and said,"Actually yes. All the girls are wearing pink dress and all the boys are wearing black shirts?! I mean won't we look like a band or something?"
"Yes Emily so what is the problem with that?",asked Eva."In case you haven't noticed we are not big on money right now....It would be great if you all tried to cope with it, this is what you all are wearing if you want to go to the party with Scarlett, or forget about it"
Everyone was silent then Laurel said ,"Okay...we will wear those things, just let's get this over with, Scarlett is waiting outside"
Everyone nodded and Eva handed them out their clothes. Within a few minutes everyone was ready to go.
Zane looked in the mirror and saw someone else entirely staring back, he had changed, he didn't know how or why but he had definitely changed. His shoulders were broader, his eyes sharper and his body well-built. He had heightened quite a lot over the past few months. Every month, on full moon he felt the need to change, the urge to change and run, as far away from there as possible, but Natalie helped him control it. Every full moon she helped Zane sneak out of the orphanage and go out into the forest. Somehow, Natalie seemed to have a control over her change. She could change at will, Zane could too, but he didn't have control over his change, sometimes it was painful and sometimes things got out of control and Natalie had to intervene. Natalie never told Zane how she could control her change on full moons or how she could do things Zane could not, she always said all in good time. Zane never knew when the good time would come but his father used to say the same thing to him when Zane intriguingly asked questions about their kind. The good time never came for his father but Zane figured it would be best not to dwell in the past. He threw his attention at Natalie who was looking very pretty in her pink dress.
"Everybody ready?",asked Eva
"Yes",replied Emily, Derek, Mick, Natalie, Laurel and Zane in unison.
"Good",said Eva, who herself was dressed up like some 90's grandmother. "Everyone, get on the bus, we will be following Miss Olivia to her home on our orphanage bus, and remember! No powers showcasing! There will be many people out there today so, we can't risk them knowing what we really are!"
"Okay",said Laurel, who looked impatient,"Can we go now?"
Eva smiled and nodded and said,"Miss Laurel, please wear the pink dress I gave you"
Everyone frowned, Laurel was wearing the pink dress Eva had given to all the girls.
"I am wearing the pink dress you gave me",said Laurel
"No you're not",said Eva smiling patiently."We are not going anywhere until you have worn your dress"
"WHAT DO YOU THINK I AM NAKED OR SOMETHING?! I AM WEARING A DRESS, CANT YOU SEE?",said Laurel angrily.
"I can see, I can see so properly that I can see right through your illusion",said Eva. "Stop the illusion Laurel. Stop it"
Laurel was wide-eyed and open-mouthed and she mouthed,"How?!-"
Laurel stopped the illusion and the pink dress disappeared and it came into focus that was wearing a very pretty black dress.
"You're my student , Laurel. I know you all",said Eva
"You were able to see through my illusion?! That's crazy!",said Laurel
"I wasn't able to see through Laurel, I just predicted it and see, I was not wrong after all, Laurel you go change and come back",said Eva."Everyone, let's get to the bus"
Everyone was smiling and some were patting Laurel, for the illusion she had just pulled, when she came back.
Scarlett gave a thumbs-up and got in her car. She drove as Eva followed, driving the bus.
As they drove away, Zane was staring out of the window and as they crossed Jake street, Zane thought he saw a woman staring at the bus, a woman who looked exactly like his mother and she smiled as the bus drove away.
