Don't mess up

When the bus stopped, Zane thought it was one of those castles from his world.

Scarlett's house was huge,it was really big and almost all the kids were staring at it from the window and gaping at it.

"Oh my God...Do you see that?!",Mick shouted Laurel.

Laurel scrunched her nose and said,"Ofcourse I see it! I am not blind!"

Laurel had been in a particularly bad mood since she had been made to wear the pink dress instead of the black dress she had been intending to wear.

They saw Scarlett gesturing at them to follow her. As they were going to get out of the bus, Eva stopped them.

Everyone looked at her and she said,"I won't be following you all inside but I assure I can see how you all are behaving. So all of you, behave yourselves and the only reason I brought you all here is because this is a part of the test. We will be monitoring your behaviour. So do your best to blend in and it will turn out just fine"

"You said 'we will be monitoring' " ,said Emily. "Who else is there with you?"

Eva inhaled sharply and said,"None of your business"

Laurel rolled her eyes and Mick asked,"What happens if any of us messes up?"

Eva shrugged and said,"Last time it happened, well....the crew had to slaughter every witness on the scene"

They couldn't tell if she was joking or not.

"What crew?",asked Laurel

"THAT'S THE HORRIBLE!",shouted Natalie at Eva

"Everything is... isn't it?" ,said Eva."Now all of you chop chop, off you go and prove yourselves"

Zane silently followed Natalie and they all followed Scarlett inside the 'palace' house.

The door was unexpectedly huge too.

There were a lot of people but the place was so big that it made it look like there were not many people.

Scarlett walked in and greeted a woman in red suit the woman had put on too much makeup and had her hair tied in a pony which made her look like a hawk, not to mention those shrewd clever brown eyes waiting to look at you and kill you with its gaze.

The way Scarlett and the women spoke Zane was pretty sure that the woman was Scarlett's step-mother. Suddenly a girl in a pretty dress came and greeted Scarlett and hugged her. Zane concentrated on her face and to his horror she was the same girl who had saved him from hunger on his first day on Earth,Mary.

Unfortunately, the girl looked right at Zane as he was trying to look away.

"Zane?!",she said lightly but it was enough for Zane's hearing.

"Hi!",he said ,smiling.

"What are you doing here?!",asked Mary coming towards him.

"I invited them",said Scarlett politely,"The children from Hewyard Orphanage!"

"That's great!",said Mary grinning

Scarlett's step-mother's face was twisting with rage.

"You brought the orphans to our privileged party?!",her step-mother asked trying to keep a straight face

Scarlett grinned and said,"Apparently, I did! And, it's good isn't it? After all, my dad has always helped orphans, he would actually be glad I invited my friends from the orphanage to the party I guess you won't be able to complain to him about this bevaviour of mine, would you?"

Her mother smiled so painfully and left. It reminded Zane of the time Mick had swallowed two chillis and had to look strong for Emily so he smiled painfully to show he was so strong!

"It is pathetic!",said Mary."She is so full of herself! I don't understand why she wants to show off to her friends! They know she has money!"

Scarlett smiled and said,"If we knew, we wouldn't be here"

"So how do you both know each other?",asked Natalie

"I and my siblings were in the woods with our uncle and we saw Zane, he clearly looked like he could do with some food and he also did that eye colour thing so, my siblings helped him with the food and I helped him escape!",said Mary laughing.

Zane was pretty sure that Natalie and Scarlett didn't understand her but he went on with it and whispered to her," Are they here too?"

Mary's eyes widened and she nodded,"They are here too!"

"You remember you told them they had dreamt about me? What will happen if they see me today?",asked Zane, clearly worried

"I will cover for you alright? Just don't tell them that you remember them and don't act like you have ever seen them before!"

Zane nodded,"Alright but please I don't want to create a scene here!"

"You won't", promised Mary, looking around, probably searching for her siblings.

Natalie and Scarlett looked at Mary and Zane suspiciously, trying to understand what they meant but they eventually gave up.

Mick, Emily, Derek and the rest of the children were clearly enjoying themselves and some of them had blended in. It even looked like Laurel had made some friends but whether it was an illusion, Zane could never tell.

Finally a room's door opened and a boy and a girl came in and a smile spread across Scarlett's step-mother's face, pride.

And Arthur and Ruby walked in and their smiles were intact until they saw Zane.
