Not just a hender
All of them were gathered around a coffin inside a poorly dug grave.
They said their goodbyes and covered up the grave.
All of them were grieving but Alice was crying hard. Emily knelt and produced flowers made of ice and kept it on Aidan's grave.
Everyone knew it would eventually melt but no one said anything.
They all stood by his grave for about fifteen minutes when Scarlett broke the silence,"So sorry to interrupt but those scary men may catch up...we need to keep moving"
"Keep moving and go where?!",asked Alice
"Anywhere safe!",said Mick
"Oh yeah Mick? Where is safe for us?! The orphanage?! We don't even know if they themselves are hunting us and we have no home and no where else to go! Where will we run?!", cried Alice
Derek held Alice's shoulder and said,"Look....I know you are feeling low and like there is no way out of this but believe me...there is! We will find a way! We will find somewhere to live! Have faith..."
"You and your faith", muttered Laurel
"Hey what did you say!?",shouted Derek accusingly.
"HEY BREAK IT!",shouted Zane. "We can't have each other fighting now! We need to work together if we want to stay safe, one of us is already gone"
"You know what?! I can't go any further",said Alice
"I am not going anywhere....you guys...go on without me because I can't...I just can't go on",said Alice, tears falling from her eyes
Natalie started,"Look Alice you can't-"
"I can!",she said,"I am not going anywhere! If anyone tries to stop me from staying here then I am personally going to strike them down with lightning"
Everyone shut their mouth
Alice continued,"I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself....I will handle myself just fine!"
"Look Eva wouldn't want us splitting up", whispered Bennett
"Oh I don't give a damn what she would have wanted! This is where we part our ways", shouted Alice
"Whoever wants to stay safe...get in the car",said Scarlett politely, going on and sitting in the driver's seat
Everyone looked extremely confused but they looked back and forth between the van and Alice.
And Alice looked like she definitely wanted to be left alone.
Everyone paved their way to the van but Laurel went towards Alice, she knelt and said,"Before I go...let me say something...if you really loved him, let him go...you can't hold on to him forever. I knew Aidan...he wouldn't want that. The only way you are ever going to feel better is if you don't hold on to it forever"
Alice nodded her head and whispered,"You better go now...they are waiting"
Laurel nodded and went on to the van where they were waiting for Laurel. She hopped in and they drove off.
Scarlett drove for another hour until she got out and slammed the car door shut.
"Is everything alright? Asked some of the kids
"No",said Scarlett said accusingly. "Out of fuel"
That bought a lot of grumpy and scared looks.
"We will have to walk",said Scarlett looking ahead
"Alright stop!",said Derek and everyone looked at him. " We have no food, no water, no supplies of any sort and now we don't have a vehicle. Where are we running off to?! We don't have a destination in mind! Will we just keep running until we die of hunger or someone hunts us....not to mention we are dressed like a freaking band!"
"He's got a point",said Zane
Scarlett nodded and asked,"So what do you want to do ?"
Laurel frowned and asked,"Scarlett, you could have easily run away! Why are you helping us?! Those men were not after you, but still you are putting yourself in danger without a reason!"
Scarlett kept quiet. She crossed her arms and said,"Look... honestly I wasn't entirely planning on helping you but, when I saw those men come at all of you, I panicked and I fetched my father's gun...you all were not the only people who saw me shoot, my mother , my siblings and other people did too.... I can't go back..I don't want to go back now...the only way I have left to go is with y'all... because I know I can't survive alone for those men saw me too ....they will be hunting me down too"
Emily piped,"You shot at them to help us! You won't get arrested for that, will you?"
"You don't understand...my family...they will never look at me the same, those people...I can't go back"
"Hey hey",said Derek holding Scarlett's shoulder. "Don't be so sad! It's okay...you don't have to go back!"
Scarlett immediately pulled away from his grasp.
"Doesn't it disturb you that we have powers?",asked Mick
Scarlett smiled and said,"I suspected you all had some kind of powers I just wasn't sure of it.
But now I am. And no, I am not disturbed by the fact that you all are gifted. I am curious and excited actually...I may not be showing it. Were you all born this way?"
"We don't know",said Bennett. "Eva took us in and told us we had powers. She used to train us "
"Train you?",asked Scarlett, "Train you for what?"
"To work for some queen",said Helen, "She said some stuffs about winning and serving her"
"A queen?", snorted Scarlett ,"Now this is getting interesting"
"Okay wait....where do we go next? I am actually really hungry",said Mick.
Helen rolled her eyes and whispered,"You are always hungry!"
"Hey!",complained Mick.
Natalie began,"Alright so I was thinking-"
"Shhh!", warned Mick
"Okay we will get you food don't interrupt",said Scarlett
"No! I hear something! Can't you all hear it too?!",said Mick
"Umm...we hear nothing actually",said Zane.
Zane had super hearing and even he couldn't hear anything.
"IT'S GETTING LOUDER!",shouted Mick , closing his ears with both his hands.
No one except Mick could hear anything.
His ears were starting to bleed.
Everyone rushed to his aid. Scarlett kept trying to have him remove his hands from his ears so that she could take a better look but Mick was too powerful.
And after a lot of screaming Mick vanished with a pop and black smoke.
Everyone looked aghast.
"What the hell just happened?!",shouted Natalie
And there Mick was standing a few metres away from them, looking confused
"Oh my God", whispered Laurel. "He has that power...."
"I am sorry what?!",shouted back Mick
Zane looked at Mick and said,"He is not just a hender.....he can teleport"
