Persues found us in the midst of our conversation, "Father wants a meeting tonight"
"All of us?" Gus asked, his eyes flickering to me
Persues shook his head, "Have you shown her the room she will be staying in?"
"We haven't gotten there yet." I answered
"I wasn't talking to you." He said back, looking at Gus.
"What? You can't even look at me?" I was getting tired of his pissy attitude.
"Gus if you don't mind to show her to the room she's staying in and meet me in the usual spot, there's stuff we need to discuss before tonight."
"Sure," Gus said and with that Persues walked away not sparing me another look.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Doesn't that get on your nerves? The way he bosses everyone around?"
"This way," Gus said back to me and led the way through the hallways. It was like a maze, many turns and endless halls. "And to answer your question, no it doesn't. That's how he was raised."
"What do you mean?"
He chucked, " I keep forgetting we haven't explained much to you, and yet you trusted us"
"It's weird... I had a good feeling about you guys. I don't know how to explain it, but that I felt safe. Maybe we knew each other in another life or maybe I'm crazy."
"Your not crazy Bella, now the knowing each other in another life I don't know much about." Gus snickered.
"So this is the secret you were hiding from me, now I know why you couldn't say anything."
"I still don't know how much I'm allowed to say, you are going back home after all."
Home, I guess you could call it that. After everything my house didn't feel safe as it once did. "What would happen if try to leave Silent Hallow?"
"Trying to leave already?" He asked stopping in front of a door, "and this is your room, M'lady." He turned the knob and said, "Ladies first."
"And they said chivalry was dead" I said as I walked in.
He laughed and followed me in, "Hope your stay at castle de vampire is pleasant just like you."
"The room is beautiful, thank you." It was decorated in gray tones, with a bed in the center and no windows.
"That door leads to a bathroom" Gus informed me breaking me out of my thoughts.
I nodded, "Thank you."
"Make yourself at home, and I'll be right back after I go meet with them."
"Wait!" I called out before he could leave, "you never told me what would happen if I tried to leave the town."
"Trust me I don't think you would want to leave the town Saraphina." He paused, "Humans just don't leave the town without consequences. I don't know how you found it but one things for sure your not leaving, you can't." He gave me one last smile, "I'm sorry." He whispered and closed the door.
Persues POV
I tapped my fingers on the chair I was sitting on, I was getting impatient.
"Another round?" Nicolas asked holding up whiskey.
I throw my shot glass at him, he caught it swiftly, and poured the alcohol in it. I got up and took it from him. I wonder what Augustus is doing that's taking him so long.
"You think we'll have any trouble?" Nicolas words brought me out of my thoughts.
"With the Others," I paused, you couldn't ever be sure with them. "Maybe." Having a human with us here, yes that would be a problem. For me. My mind wonders off to the dogs words. My mate ... my fucking mate. Could be anyone, anyone in my life but it's the human I see once. Mate, I chuckle to myself.
Then I hear the thoughts of Augustus following in, I left my head up and stare at the door, "He's here."
Nicolas' eyes don't leave me, "Are you okay Perz?"
Not at all, but I don't say that "Yea." I lie but he knows the truth.
Augustus walks in, sees the bottle and goes straight for it. "Main one is here."
Nicolas rolls his eyes at him, "Share Augustus."
I took the bottle from him and took a swing from it. Augustus smelt like her.
"What's troubling you?" Gus asked, his eyebrows brunched up together.
"You wouldn't believe it." I answered back, I still didn't believe it. I didn't want to believe it. A fucking mate ....
"No what I can't believe is how rude your treating saraphina." Gus stated.
That's it. I was done hearing about her. "Don't say her name." I said through my teeth.
"Just cut her some slack, that's all I'm saying." He said back pouring all three of us shots.
"Why should I? She'll be gone in a few days and I can go back to my normal life." I was trying to push down the thoughts of her leaving, no I don't care I tried to tell myself but it was pointless. My heart ached for her.
"Your a vampire, your life isn't normal."
"Don't you think I know that." I wanted to scream at him, but I kept my cool.
"It's something to do with her, isn't it?" Nicolas asked studying me. "You been on the edge every since we met her."
I wanted to lie but there was no point in lying to him, he could tell right through it, I choose not to answer him.
Gus walked over to me and put his hand on my shoulder, "We just want to help." He told me. I gave him a small smile. "What is it?"
Changing the conversation, I asked Nicolas , "Do your powers work on her?"
Nicolas thought for a second, "Now that you mention it, no I don't think so."
I sighed, this was getting more complicated by every step we took.
"Do you know something about this?" Gus asked me
"Father will explain it better." I said back.
Nicolas handed us our shots and we took them. He looked me in the eye and said, "That's not what you wanted to talk about was it?"
"Maybe another time." I said. I didn't want to talk about her anymore.
Understanding I wanted the matter dropped, changing the subject Gus after a minute asked, "So barriers are down on the town?"
I ran my hand through my hair, "I was thinking about that. Obviously no human can leave or came in, but what if she had help. What if some way she was suppose to be here. What if someone put her here."
"You think someone lowered the barrier just so she could came in?" Gus asked, his eyebrows scrunched up. "Why would anyone do that?"
"I don't know, but someone's playing games with us. And I'm going to figure out who it is." I said as I took another swing from the bottle, letting it burn down my throat. The burn I felt was nothing compared to the burning I was going to do once I figured out who was behind this. They were messing with me, my town and my mate.
