Powers And Heritage

"Queen Ellen, you do know that by the laws of our kingdom. The Queen has to greet the Queen Mother first thing in the morning before she goes to see anyone. Quinn is not at fault for following the laws, but she is following them accurately, and she was also following the King's request. So I do not see any wrong in what she did." Queen Mother backed up Quinn as she stared firmly at Queen Ellen.

"I know that, but since I specifically sent a maid to call her, she should come to hear what I have to say." Queen Ellen grounded out as Quinn watched their interaction.

"Are you saying that the Queen should break the law and disrespect the King because of what you have to say to her?"

"No, I dare not say that. I will never go against the King or the law."

"Good, as the previous Queen, you should know that."

"Yes, I understand." Queen Ellen replied coldly as she looked at Queen Mother before moving her gaze to Quinn beside her. Her gaze was full of hatred and envy for them both. She turned around and marched away, angrily. Lady Aida and their maids followed after her in a rush.

Vincent was sitting on his throne in the throne room as his two advisors stood on either side of him and the forty officials of his kingdom split into half and each half was lined on left and right. Vincent looked over at the officials, "We need to protect the kingdom from the dark Fae, the attack they launched on me was unexpected and planned on their side."

"Someone must have told them where you were." One official from the left suggested.

"But no one knew that I went to visit the Queen at her kingdom." Vincent said referring to when he was bringing Quinn to the demon kingdom. However, since they did not tell anyone about that, he had told his officials and advisors that the assassins attacked him when he had gone to visit her before she came.

"Then they must have used magic from the witches to track you since their own magic can't track." Another official from the right said.

"Yes, it seems so. They are trying to start a war and they may have joined forces with the witches." Vincent added.

"Should we confront them and send a message to their kingdom?" The advisor on his right asked.

"No, we should wait until they launch another attack then we will capture their assassins and send a message to them. If not, they would deny sending assassins to us." Vincent concluded.

"Yes, your Majesty." All the officials along with the advisors answered as they bowed.

After Queen Ellen left, Quinn and Queen Mother continued talking as Queen Mother's maids took away their plates. Quinn glanced at her as she asked, "Mother, what is your own power?"

"I have many because of my mixed vampire and demon heritage. But among them are knowing a person's true intention and when someone was planning something evil on me or Vincent ."

"That is amazing." Quinn said in awe.

"Yes, and the powers come in very handy since Queen Ellen has been scheming against me since I came to the palace especially after giving birth to a male child."

"I can imagine, but what are her own powers?"

"She can make herself appear more beautiful than she really is like a mermaid. She lures men in with her beauty and then it comes out as she tries to devour their fortune. Her mixed heritage of human and demon has made that her only power."

Quinn's eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she looked at Queen Mother, "Does that mean that I will also have minimal powers if I turn?"

Quinn was not sure if she wanted to turn into a demon. Yes, she has started falling in love with Vincent, but she did not think that she could change her nature for him. Maybe in the future when she fully loved him she would, but she did not know what to do now.

"No, I did not explain well before. She has lesser powers because she was not turn into a demon, but her mother was and then married a human man to give birth to her. She has more human blood than demon blood and that has weaken the demon powers in her." Queen Mother explained as she gestured gently with her hands.

"Ah, I see. That has also given you an advantage over the years then."

Queen Mother smiled in satisfaction, "Yes, but even with full powers, she can't compete with me. She evil and I am the opposite."

"Indeed, you are one of the best people I have met, mother." Quinn replied smiling, making Queen Mother grin at her.

Quinn's cheeks flushed a pink color as she thought about what she wanted to ask next. She glanced down at the table as she asked shyly, "Do I have to be a demon to be able to hear children for Vincent?"

Queen Mother noticed her shyness as she placed her hand on top of hers, "Do not be shy in wanting to know what you do not, Quinn."

Quinn nodded and Queen Mother took her hand away from hers as she replied to her, "The answer to your question is yes, you have to be a demon for you to be able to carry his child. Since you are his mate, he has to mark you when you mate with him and that will slowly turn you into a demon. You will start seeing changes in your body and mind after that."

"That means I will be with child immediately?"

"Yes, you will probably be with child after your first mating, but it will take so much more time before you give birth again. Also, demons give birth to only one or two children in their lifespan."

"Okay, I understand. I thank mother for explaining what I want to know to me." Quinn said, bowing her head slightly.

"It is fine, Quinn. You can ask me anything you want to know." She replied, smiling just as they heard light footsteps walk into the courtyard.
