One After The Other

KAHAKU flew with tamotsu leading to where they felt the miasma where. A few moments, Yoshiko appeared and started to follow them. No one was talking. No one was making an unnecessary statement.

At the moment, it was needed.

Unlike the first attack, the yokai attacked far from the forest where Dandy was. They can even detect their dark miasma. But this time, this dark entity was unnoticeable. They didn't even know that they were already there. Aside from that, they don't know where the miasma was coming from.

And just now was the strongest ripple of dark mana they felt. And it was nearer than the other days. They cannot let it slide this time. They need to find that thing.

Kahaku's hand clenched harder as he flew faster and finally reached the center of the event. He landed without grace and just pure anger. Wind blew and water splatter when he landed.

His eyes roamed around the vicinity. The whole place was dark for the miasma spread everywhere. The sun started to hide from the moon's shadow added to the eerie feeling of the place. Few dead birds were scattered all over the place and so other animals. Kahaku closed his eyes and tried to feel if there would be anyone alive.

"Damn it!" cursed Kahaku as he cannot find any life energy around those animals. And he knew Dandy would be heartbroken again.

Kahaku tried to walk but he cannot move his feet. It was glued into something. It was only then that the invisible strings got clearer. No—it wasn't just lines of strings. They were spider webs!

"Joro!" Kahaku shouted. He quickly looked up and warned Tamotsu and Yoshiko who were just coming around. "Stop! Don't come any closer or you might get caught, too."

The two guardians stopped mid-air and slowly descend to the top of the highest tree near where he was. Kahaku concentrated as he manifested water from the moisture around them. Small droplets of water started to form out in thin air. Gathering even the smallest particle he could find.

Kahaku opened his eyes. Slowly, he whipped his hands around to let the droplets started to twirl, faster and faster until it made a thin circle. And Kahaku didn't stop there as he started to turn it into ice blades. The thin water turned into ice spinning faster than before, Kahaku waited for the ice to spin its fastest before letting them all go.

Spinning and zooming everywhere. It looks like it was doing nothing as it just flew from here and there. But if anyone would take a closer look, the spinning ice was cutting thru the spider webs all around Kahaku and the whole vicinity.

As the spider webs started to fall, they now became visible as it dangles around the trees and the grasses. Soon there were none. The ice immediately melted into ice. Kahaku then fell on his one knee. Bleeding from his body down to his legs.

"Lord Kahaku!" Yoshiko flew down to where Kahaku was.

"Stop! Don't step down as there are still webs on the ground. They may not cut your flesh but it will surely slow you down or worst, be glued to where you are." Kahaku explained. He then tried to stand up and composed himself.

"Why did you risk yourself to remove all those spiderwebs?" Tamotsu asked. Concern and worry were spelled on his face. "You know that it was dangerous. Moving around while bound by the web was like tearing a cloth from its stitches."

Kahaku snickered at Yoshiko. "That was nothing. Sometimes too much seating would make us go weak. This is just an exercise." But Kahaku's body wasn't agreeing with what he said as he coughed out some blood.

"Lord Kahaku!"

"Stop it. Instead of attending to me, might as well be useful and find Joro. I know she's just around here. Bidding her time before she eats her prey." Kahaku commanded.

The two guardians alerted and stood up protecting Kahaku behind them. Kahaku then focused on finding Jogo's whereabouts.

Joroo or Jorogumu is a yokai who they called the binding bride. A whore spider. Trapping their prey into their webs, eating away their mana before devouring them. Like a married man trapped into a suffocating marriage.

Joro was cursed as the clans of the spider didn't show alliance to the Sun Goddess's lineage. Amaterasu gave them creepy long limbs and eyes that equaled to their feet. As time passed, they learned to adapt to their curse thus shapeshifting themselves to a beautiful woman as they trapped their victims.

But this time, she isn't concealing what she really looked like. Joro emerged from the forest, walking as she let her eight legs burst out from her sides. Her legs moved like fingers wriggle.

Joro's beautiful face was erased as eyes started to open from her forehead down to her cheeks. Looking at every angle, every side, and one eye to each of them. A sinister smile made them see her sharp fangs that could really tear away from their flesh from their bones.

"Monster," Kahaku cannot help but insult the creature in front of them. "I don't need to ask you why you're doing this. You have always been a nuisance. Wreaking havoc to everything that the higher Gods created. You have been long tagged as a mistake of the Goddess." He continued to insult the spider woman. But it seems it doesn't affect her.

"That would be better then," Joro retorted. "it will save us time in talking. Why don't we start to dance?"

"Dance? Who would want to dance to a monster like you?" Kahaku laughed. "And didn't you see, all of your webs have been cut?"

Kahaku thought that Joro would back down but she really smiled at them.

"You are still tied down to the ground and tyhese puny guardians are all you've got."

"Damn you! Don't underestimate us!" Yoshiko growled and was ready to jump to where Joro was but stopped by Tamotsu.

"She just taunting you, Yoshiko. The moment you flew to where she is, she would spit spider webs at you. Then you'd be her lunch and dinner for a few months."

Joro laughed. "Good thing you have wise friend, wolf. It such a shame that I wont have you as my meal." She laughed again.

If the two guardians weren't that fast, they would have been caught as Joro spitted a mouth full of her spider web, enough for it to get the two bonded into a cocoon.

"This fucking bitch! Sneaky bastard!" Yoshiko can't help but exclaim.

"Don't let her get into you, Yoshiko. You need to stay calm. One wrong move and it will be your end."

Kahaku hoped that Yoshiko would keep his temper and stopped himself from trying to attack Joro. There was only one thing he needed to do to stop her. Yoshiko just needed to calm down, at least until he could regain the needed amount mana for him to execute his plan.
