Let's be Friends

"Your class must have let out early, I didn't expect that you would be back this early." Chester replied as he looked at his watch to see that Keith should have indeed still had another fifteen minutes or more before his class would normally end.

"Yeah, the professor had something else to do so he went ahead and released us from class early since he assigned a project that he wants us to finish before next class period." Keith replied as he came over to the table and set his backpack down on the floor.

"Seems like you two are working on getting along well." He commented with amused sarcasm. He hadn't expected that Chester and Apryl would've bumped into each other again so quickly after their first meeting not so long ago.

"I came here to talk with you about something and it just happened that she was still here waiting for you." Chester replied as he kept his focus on Keith rather than the girl who was sitting at the table across from him.

"I was waiting because there was something else that I need your help with before I leave for the day. I didn't know that he was planning on meeting with you today otherwise I would've left." Apryl replied, her annoyance for the situation not having abated.

"If it bothered you that much, you could've left and come back at a different time since your reason for waiting for him wasn't official like mine was." Chester commented only causing her annoyance to grow.

"Now, now. Why don't we work on being friends and getting along rather than behaving like this?" Keith suggested as he patted his two friends on the shoulder to try and ease the tension.

"I know that the difference between you two is like night and day, but I'm sure that you can work something out and get along since you're both my friends."

"Keith, I don't think that just because we're friends that means I'm required to try and get along with anyone else who also happens to be in your social circle." Chester replied as he looked at the other man with a look that said clearly said 'your reason for trying to get us to get along is faulty.' Keith offered him a smile in response.

"That may be the case, but it would make my life easier if I didn't have to worry about tension going on around me anytime you two are sharing the same space near me and I have stuff to do."

"I wouldn't mind getting along with him better if he had a politer set of manners. I'm not saying that I'm the nicest person either, but his way of communicating doesn't work for me." Apryl replied.

"Maybe you should get used to the fact that not everyone you interact with is going to communicate in a way that you like." Chester offered causing her to glare at him. It wasn't that she had any problem with what he was saying because he made good points she couldn't really argue with. It was that the way he said it was in such way that it annoyed her.

"People around here especially aren't going to be that concerned about your feelings if your only reason for disagreeing with them or rejecting what they say is on the basis that you don't like the way they communicate." He continued as he stood from his seat.

"I'm done talking about this matter however. I have more important things that I need to do and part of that requires me to talk with Keith before I have my next meeting. I'm sure that you can wait until we're done to ask him for help." Keith even felt at a slight loss for what to say in response to his friend telling Apryl to wait the way he did.

"I suppose if it's important we can meet now I can come back to address this afterwards, are you on a tight time frame?" Keith asked as he stepped away from the table to move over to where the other man was standing.

"I have another meeting in less than an hour and there's some information about student workers I didn't have on hand that I knew you could probably get for me. I need the information to petition for a reform that's been brought to my attention that other students are pushing for." Chester replied as he brought up the pre-agenda he had made on his phone to make sure that he wouldn't forget anything important prior to the meeting. There was a lot of things that he needed to keep track of and the easiest way for him was to make a list of each thing in the order of importance. He wouldn't be able to maintain his position if he didn't show that he was capable of keep tracking of everything and knowing what he talked about.

"Well you know that you could've sent over Jasper or someone before now to get it for you." Keith told his friend as he went over to where his desk was to look to see if he had what his friend was looking for filed here or if he would have to go else.

"You know I don't trust them to do things like that. Half of the time that I ask them to do something for me, I end up doing it myself because they refuse to get the work done in a decently timely manner so it doesn't like a mess that thrown together at the last minute." Chester replied as stayed in his place next to the table while the other continued his search.

"It's not like I can request for an entire different team either. Even if they don't get their wrong done, they're highly popular among most of the students here and that would create chaos I don't want to do deal with even though I would prefer to not have to do everything myself."

"What about your secretary though? I thought you guys were still close, hmm what was his name, Callum?" a brief look of softness passed over Chester's face before it had disappeared almost as soon as it was there.

"He does his job well, but he's already taking on a number of other things from that side of the committee plus his studies are requiring more time from him." Chester explained.

"Callum is another werewolf here. Quite the opposite of this guy though they surprisingly get along well." Keith told Apryl as he came away from his desk before sighing.

"Seems we have to go elsewhere to find it. You can stay here or come with me. As for Apryl, I'll be back when I'm done with this." He told her causing her to feel a mild amount of frustration that she was having to wait longer.

"I'll come with you, the meeting I need to head to his in the general same direction as where you're heading so it'll end up saving me time." He didn't bother saying anything to Apryl before he left with the other. If Apryl wasn't worried about coming across as childish to the other people who were around, she would've stuck her tongue at his back when he turned to leave. Even though Keith wanted them to get along, she wasn't sure that was something she was going to be able to do with Chester, his personality made him hard to get along with.
