Those Pair of Jet-Black Eyes

Li Melin stared at Lim Xian's hand that was extended right in front of her while contemplating whether to accept it or not.

"Come on now, don't leave me hanging," Lim Xian complained which irritated her even more.

"Alright! Have some patience once in your life, will 'ya?"

Rolling her eyes, Li Meilin begins to lift her hand up and is about to shake his hand right there when Lim Xian suddenly pulls back his hand on his side while cracking into an amused laugh. His friends started to laugh along with him from what he did as well.

Smirking at his personal maid, Lim Xian said, "Whether you accept the deal or not, people will still assume that we are now dating or whatever and you can't do anything about it unless I call it off."

To his friends, Lim Xian, "Let's roll."

His friends looked at Li Meilin's dumbfounded face for a few seconds before they followed Lim Xian behind, who, at that time, had now started walking with his back facing Meilin at the moment.

Out of frustration, Li Meilin threw punches in mid-air as if her demon master is still standing in front of her right now. She only stopped doing that the moment she noticed that she was gaining some unnecessary attention once more and walked out from here.

Several minutes had passed since the time Li Meilin arrived at Lim Xian's house, she immediately climbed upstairs and went to her room to change into her maid's uniform before she started doing the household chores for now.

Ms. Yu had specifically assigned her to clean the spacious drawing room along with the other maids she met the other day during her first week in this house.

Li Meilin was just silently wiping the windows in a corner when she noticed the other two whispering to each other as their eyes sneak glances in her direction from time to time while they are sweeping the floor on the other side.

At first, Li Meilin tried her best to ignore them and just keep going with what she was doing right now but then one of them, the girl with the shoulder-length black hair, whose name she already had forgotten, called her out of nowhere.

"Is it true?" she asked, which made Li Meilin crease her forehead.

"Is what true?" Li Meilin asked back while still continuing to do her job.

The girl looked like she was hesitant to ask about it at first, but after a while, she proceeded with what she is about to say.

"You know… that you and the young master are dating?"

Li Meilin's hand that she used for wiping the windows instantly froze the moment she heard that and started wondering how the hell did she know of their little absurd deal that they just sealed earlier this afternoon?

Still, Li Meilin faced her co-maid with a confident look on her face.

"Nope, it is definitely not true." she denied.

The other girl standing next to the black-haired one with the ponytail auburn hair arched one eyebrow as she stopped sweeping for a while and crossed her arms.

"Oh yeah? But you are all over the internet, girl so don't even try to deny it. We even saw the video where the young master declared his love for you, so shame on you if you deny it on our faces."

Wait, what? Li Meilin looked at the girl like she went nuts or something. That jerk? Declaring his love for her? She sure had seen a different version of the story, probably the edited one.

"Yeah. There's no harm in admitting it, you know," said the other one.

That's it.

Li Meilin didn't bother wasting her time answering all their inquiries and continued wiping the windows. After she was done a few seconds later, Li Meilin dragged the monoblock chair that she brought from the kitchen and used it to reach for the curtains so that she could change them too.

The other maids eyed her in disbelief for quite some time now before puffing some air out of frustration and went back to work.

They were in the middle of rearranging the furniture as carefully as they could when they noticed the young master walking inside the room and immediately bowed their head down.

They were just about to make a fuss about his sudden entrance when Lim Xian placed a finger near his lips and shushed them. The girls obeyed her willingly and didn't say a word before they went back to work.

Meanwhile, Li Meilin was now in the process of placing the new curtains back on top when she started having a difficult time doing so.

Meilin found it more difficult to return the curtains to their original position than to take them from their original place.

"Babe! Do you need help?"

From where she was standing, Li Meilin immediately lost her balance the moment she heard that annoying voice coming from behind her.

As Lim Xian saw that Li Meilin was about to fall, he felt the adrenaline rush kick in and he ran as fast as he could in her direction so that he could catch her before she fell from the monoblock chair she is now standing in.

"Meilin!" he shouted as he rushed to her side to catch her.

Li Meilin shut her eyes and waited for her body to make contact with the paved and tiled ground. But a few seconds had passed since she lost her balance, she still couldn't feel anything and that made her open her eyes once again.

The minute she did, that's when Li Meilin saw herself in her annoying demon master's arms that got her lips parted in shock.

What the hell?

Even the other maids that are with them now squealed in excitement as if they were a live-action romance drama right before their eyes.

It was as if the passage of time itself slowed down the moment Li Meilin met Xian's concerned gaze while he was asking her how she was doing as of this moment.

As much as she hated it, Li Meilin could have sworn to herself that her heart was racing just now as she stared at those pair of jet-black eyes that were also staring back at her.
