Ethan felt that if that Young Master Sirius has any sense, then he would never dare to assassinate him. Not until the election results were out. Of course, if this Young Master is crazy enough to place priority on his revenge over his father's promotion, then he is helpless.
So, who is the real mastermind?
[Danger! Danger!]
As Ethan was lost in his thoughts and was seriously trying to find out the real mastermind behind the assassination attempt on him, the System has given him a warning. Of course, even if the System didn't warn him, he would have been on high alert. Even if he was thinking seriously, his attention was still on the person who was trying to assassinate him. He didn't let his guard down even for the slightest moment.
Shiu!
Another arrow approached him at a rapid pace. But Ethan was still a step ahead of him. His Spirit was very high. So his senses were sharper than before. So he sensed the coming of the arrow quickly and dodged it by quickly taking two steps sideways.
The arrow didn't even touch him as it went past Ethan and hit a tree. The fight was taking place on the road. But it is like a tree tunnel on the road where trees on each side formed a more or less continuous canopy overhead, giving the effect of the tunnel.
There!
Ethan warned himself by looking at the opposite side of the tree which was hit by the arrow. Ethan immediately rushed to the opposite side. It was the direction from where the arrow was fired. And logically speaking, the assassin should be found there. So before the assassin switch his place, Ethan wanted to find him first.
He took advantage of his upgraded speed and agility and ran in the direction of the assassin's location. The rewards of completing the 'V' Ranked mission was more obvious. All his physical attributes were upgraded which was part of the rewards. So he ran very quickly.
Not far from him, on a branch of a giant tree, a black-masked assassin was looking in Ethan's direction with eyes filled with disbelief. He truly tried his best to kill Ethan. He didn't commit any mistakes in the process. He was an experienced assassin. Moreover, he was a Level 1 of the Physique Strengthening Stage Expert. And according to the data he had, his target is a mere 5th Level of Elementary Stage Expert. This was supposed to be an easy mission.
But in his experience, he learned that no one should be underestimated. Even if his target was an ordinary mortal who could be disposed of with just one finger, he would still follow his lessons to assassinate him. And his target is still the 5th Level of Elementary Stage Expert. Even though his target is weaker than him, he still took him seriously.
And yet, he failed to assassinate him twice. He believed that his target is trained for this. Or his survival was just due to blind luck. But after watching how Ethan escaped, he didn't believe that it was all due to luck. Then this person is experienced in escaping.
Of course, he didn't rule out the possibility of the information which he received. The information of his target's strength to be at the 5th Level of Elementary Stage might be false. He might be even stronger than that.
As he was lost in his thoughts, he found that his opponent is looking in his direction. Of course, judging from the trajectory of the arrow, anyone could tell the location of the arrow that was fired. It happened many times in the past. And he was experienced enough to get the hell out of there in these circumstances.
But when he stood up to run away from that location, he looked at where Ethan was previously standing. And to his surprise, he didn't find Ethan there. The assassin was perplexed. He looked here and there and desperately wanted to find Ethan. But no matter where he looked, he didn't find him.
"Are you looking for me?", A person's voice rang out from his back. The assassin suddenly jolted and looked behind instinctively. He was stunned to find his target behind him.
When did he come? No, just before, he was a little far from my location. I found him while sitting on the tree branch. And by the time I stood up to change my location, he had already come behind me? Just how quick is he?
The assassin quickly came back to his senses. He took out a shuriken from the pocket which was located on the thigh of his pant and threw it in Ethan's direction. An Assassin is always trained to be quick and nimble. So he wanted just a quick second to move quickly and widen the distance between himself and Ethan.
Assassins were also very good at not leaving any traces behind. So, even before shooting the arrow, he made sure that he erased all the traces he left behind. He was a trained professional assassin.
But just as he jumped from his current branch to a nearby branch of a neighbouring tree, he was speechless to find Ethan there. Ethan was calmly standing there waiting for his arrival.
Shit!!! What a tough day!?
The assassin cursed loudly within his heart. But he was helpless. He found Ethan only when he was in midair. He was simply delivering himself to his target. And sure enough, even before he could land on the tree branch, Ethan held him by his neck and put him in midair.
"I think now you could relax and answer my questions.", Ethan said with a smile.
The assassin looked at the smile and shuddered. That smile might have looked a casual one, but he felt a terrifying murderous intent hidden behind that smile. He, a Physique Strengthening Stage expert is at the mercy of an Elementary Stage expert. What kind of joke is this?
Ethan maintained his smile and asked, "Who sent you to assassinate me?",
The Assassin remained silent. It was clear that he is not ready to open his mouth and answer any of Ethan's questions.
Ethan was not angry. Moreover, this kind of response was within his expectations. After all, an Assassin is trained to remain silent even if he was tortured. There is no way he would open his mouth. Moreover, Ethan didn't even start his torturing process yet. So he would remain silent.
Why would a Physique Strengthening Stage expert should be afraid of an Elementary Stage person? That will be the biggest joke in the world.
Ethan sighed. He closed his eyes and shook his head in disappointment. As someone who came from the earth, he is not someone who kills others for no reason. He couldn't bring himself forward to do it. Even on the Spirit God's Mountain, he initially hesitated to kill the monsters. But if he didn't kill them, then he would have been the target instead. So, he had to kill them to survive. But this person is a human. He couldn't bring himself forward to kill him.
Just as Ethan's focus was diverted for a split second, the assassin took out a blade that he hid in his sleeves and attacked Ethan.
