Just as the blade was about to hit him, Ethan easily dodged it by moving to his side. His enhanced speed and agility have given him such an opportunity.
But just as Ethan was about to relax after successfully dodging the blade, he found a shuriken rushing towards his location. In fact, it was approaching actually targeting his neck.
Ethan didn't have enough time to dodge it. He gritted his teeth. He learned to be cautious all the time. But subconsciously, after dodging the blade, he relaxed for a bit. And this relaxation has forced him to pay the price. The assassin was already prepared ahead of time and threw a shuriken in the direction where he jumped to dodge the blade attack.
The blade was just a distraction. And the shuriken was the real weapon which the assassin aimed at him. Ethan was relaxed for just a split second. And that relaxation for split second had cost him now.
Ethan subconsciously lifted his hand to defend his neck from suffering damage. It was a reflex action. He didn't use his hands to block the shuriken intentionally. It was an action out of desperation. So his actions were not under his control.
Puchi!
Blood spurted out from his hands. The shuriken damaged his hand which was used to block the attack. Ethan felt intense pain. But his strong endurance helped him not to show the pain in his pain.
He used his left hand and removed the shuriken from his right hand. He then threw the shuriken on the ground. He gave an "I will kill you" glare at the assassin.
Ethan was not entirely blamed for this. It was just five days since he was transported to the cultivation world. He came from a world filled with machines and technologies. His battle experience was practically zero. Despite he thought that he was cautious, he still made some amateurish mistakes. If he was born and raised in this world, then he might not have fallen for such a lame trick.
Just another lesson learned!
Ethan thought to himself. Fighting was not something he did since his birth. So he made such a mistake. But experts could be born after making mistakes and learning from them. So he raised his awareness as much as possible.
As for the assassin, he was petrified on the spot. He used his full force to throw the shuriken. And yet this Elementary Stage junior blocked it with his bare hands? One has to remember that the assassin was at the Physique Strengthening Stage. Even though he was just at the 1st stage, the gap between the Elementary Stage and Physique Strengthening Stage is very high. In the Physique Strengthening Stage, one would make their Physique strong enough for future major levels.
The Assassin threw the shuriken with full force. He even accurately judged and threw it while aiming precisely at his neck. And yet, this Elementary Stage junior was able to block it with his bare hand. Even though he suffered some damage, the gap between their cultivation was differed by one whole fucking major realm. So how was he able to block it with his mere hand?
Logically speaking, if it was someone else in Ethan's place, their hand would have been cut into two pieces. And yet, Ethan was able to block it with some minor injuries. It was truly a shocking matter.
"How were you able to block my shuriken with just a mere hand?", The Assassin asked in shock.
'Damn those fucking bastards! Every information they gave me about the target is false!', The Assassin was burning in anger as he cursed his clients in his heart.
Ethan heard the assassin and simply smiled in return. Then, he responded with a return question, "How about you tell me who hired you? Then you can learn my secret."
"Nice try. But I am sorry. I have to disappoint you. I never betray my clients.", The Assassin replied.
Ethan didn't say anything. After all, this reply was within his expectations. There is no way the assassins would reveal the name of their clients. After all, this is a trust-related issue.
An Assassin would be contacted very rarely by any clients. And if they reveal the name of their clients, then they will lose their reputation. They might never receive any missions from there on.
So, the assassin's reply was within his expectations. He simply asked this question on a whim. He didn't ask the question while expecting the assassin to reveal the name of the person who wished him dead.
"Can I ask you a question?", The Assassin asked, "What is your cultivation level?"
Ethan smiled and said, "How about you tell me who hired you? Then you can learn my cultivation base."
The Assassin wanted to vomit blood on the spot after hearing the answer. He practically copied and pasted his answer from his previous answer.
"It looks like you don't have any intentions to reply.", After composing himself, The Assassin said, "Well, I can confirm one thing. You have a very strong physical body. Your body is strong enough to block my shuriken. But I doubt whether you can counter my most powerful move!"
After concluding, the Assassin suddenly disappeared from Ethan's view. Ethan was stunned for a moment. He looked here and there and tried to find the Assassin. But he failed. Not even his presence could be felt. It was as if the Assassin never existed at all.
'Where did he vanish to?', Ethan thought and raised his cautiousness to another level. There is no way he would dare to commit the same mistake twice.
He didn't move an inch. He looked here and there cautiously. He tried his best to pinpoint the Assassin's location. He doesn't want to believe that the Assassin disappeared into thin air. Moreover, the Assassin himself said it. He challenged Ethan to counter his next attack.
But no matter how much he tried, he couldn't find the Assassin. He even activated the [Heavenly Gaze]. He never wanted to depend too much on the [Heavenly Gaze], so that he could improve himself. He wanted to depend on his own abilities to surpass any danger. So he decided to not use the [Heavenly Gaze] more often.
But if his life is in danger, then he would never hesitate to use it. After all, as long as he is alive, there will be many instances where he will get the opportunity to train himself.
But [Heavenly Gaze] also failed him. Just as Ethan was thinking in confusion, he received a System Notification.
[User is no longer in any danger]
[The Assassin used a Teleportation Talisman to escape from the User]
[User is completely safe now]
What???
Ethan was dumbstruck after reading the System Notification.
'He actually ran away? That was his most powerful move?'
Ethan didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
