Ethan Trapped

After his excitement over rewards dimmed down, Ethan resumed his journey toward the Sacred Wind Academy. After a couple of hours of journey, he finally reached the outskirts of the forest.

But when he looked at the forest, Ethan felt as if he lost his way. Because the forest was completely different from what he saw previously.

"Where am I?", He couldn't help but wonder in shock. He then looked at the Map on the screen. And according to the Navigation System on the screen, he wasn't lost. He was on the right path.

Then Ethan looked at the Forest. The once forest which had withered trees with dry leaves and poor vegetation has now changed.

The forest has now a rich environment and fresh air. It was in a peaceful state. Its vegetation was very rich. The view was extraordinary.

'I passed through this forest around a week ago, right? What happened in this one week for the forest to turn like this? Even though it's a piece of good news, isn't this change a little too sudden?', Ethan thought as he entered the forest.

The view of the interior of the forest was even better than the exterior. The clean and pure air made him lose himself in a trance. He was mesmerised by this fresh environment.

Ethan couldn't help but smile in peace. He closed his eyes and enjoyed nature. This kind of surreal feeling could make a person's life more peaceful.

Suddenly, Ethan felt as if his entire body was being bound by something. Ethan suddenly jolted back to reality. He looked here and there in confusion.

He found that so many black threads were tightly tied around his body. And the other end of the threads were tied to the trees in the forest which was nearest to him. From the top view, it could be seen that Ethan was at the centre from where countless threads passed through different directions and were tied to the trees around him.

Ethan sighed in disappointment. All his journey, he always remained careful. He always cross-checked for any assassination attempt on him through the System.

And when he was in a state of mesmerisation, the assassins took advantage and got him. He knew that he had fallen into the assassin's trap!

"Hehe! You finally fell into my trap!", A voice rang from behind a bamboo tree. Ethan looked in the direction.

He found a person in the black dress coming from behind the bamboo tree. This person's face was covered with a black mask. It didn't take long for Ethan to figure out this assassin!

"It's you again!", Ethan said in a chilling voice. Because this person was none other than the assassin who ambushed him when he was returning to the Phoenix Feather City after winning the Spirit God's Inheritance.

This assassin failed to assassinate Ethan despite his advantage in superior cultivation base. He escaped as soon as he sensed danger from Ethan. But now he set up an ambush for Ethan. And Ethan fell for the ambush.

"Hehe! I was keeping an eye on you for the entire night. But when I saw that you have the ability to even employ the guards from the Patriarch of the Phoenix Feather City, I was stunned for a moment. And I was considering whether to continue my assassination attempt or to drop it.", The assassin said with a smile on his face.

He continued, "But when I found that you were escaping from them, I was confused. Maybe you didn't employ the Patriarch's army for your protection. Then a question crossed my mind. Then why are they guarding your house? Even though I didn't know what is happening, I knew that they weren't employed by you. Then that means, I can take my chances against you."

He continued, "And I took my time to observe the direction you are going in. And it was not tough to understand that you were going from this forest. So, I came here quickly and set up this ambush for you. Hehehe! Guess what? You fell for it."

At this point, the assassin was marvelling over his success. He closed his eyes while facing the sky. He couldn't help but praise himself for his intelligence.

Ethan on the other side couldn't help but sigh. He now understands how foolish he was. It looks like the one who sent those people whom Ethan found outside was none other than Lily.

With this, he finally guessed Lily's family background.

Lily was none other than the descendant of the current patriarch of the Phoenix Feather City!

'Her family has the highest authority in the entire city. She might have sent those people to guard him. After all, he already told his situation to Young Master Robin. And some discussion might take place about my situation. Since she had nothing but gratitude for me, she had arranged for those guards for protecting me. And I mistook them for assassins.'

Ethan thought within his heart and understood how reckless and stupid he was. He remembered how he praised his cleverness. But now he understood that his earlier decision was nothing short of idiocy.

But it's not the time for regrets. He needs to get out of his current crisis. That is his top priority for now. So, he was trying to come up with a plan to escape from the assassin's trap.

But alas, the thing he lacked right now was time itself. Before he could come up with anything, the Assassin spoke, "Alright, you were tricky. It was a shame for me to take this long to kill you, mere Elementary Stage trash! But I have to give it to you, for Elementary Stage trash, you were truly troublesome. I had to ambush you to kill you. How disgraceful?"

'Brother! You said just now that you found an Elementary Stage person like me trash. You found handling me troublesome even though you were at Physique Strengthening Stage. If an Elementary Stage like me is trash, then what are you…. Who found an Elementary Stage like me troublesome?'

Ethan didn't know whether to laugh or cry. He looked at the assassin and wonder whether he had any problem with his head.

"I don't have any grudges against you. I am just doing my job. In your next life, make sure not to fall into any political agenda and become a target for nothing. Now, rest in peace!", The Assassin said while moving toward Ethan slowly. He had a dagger in his hands.

Ethan tried to struggle and set himself free in a flurry. But he found that the more he struggled, the nod became tight.

Ethan looked at the Assassin and couldn't help but panic.

'I just came to the world of cultivators. I had a cheat System with me. And yet, even before I could make a name for myself, am I going to die?'

No matter what, Ethan couldn't accept it!
