THE GOLDEN EGG

All of the people inside the kitchen had turned their heads into Abigail's side, who had just entered the kitchen. There was a playful smile on the child's lips as her eyes looked at them all.

"Where are you going to get those spices, Abigail?" Loreen asked with a curious tone lingering in her voice.

"There are plant leaves on the outside that when you crushed, it can give flavor to the food," Abigail answered, pointing to the tree that was standing far back at the right side.

"Wow! Did you read that in the book too, Abi?"

Abigail nodded as an answer. The women felt elated at what Abigail had told them. This was what they have had trouble with since yesterday.

"Very good, Abigail! Patrick, go join her to collect the leaves outside," Loreen ordered.

Patrick nodded and stood up. He motioned for Julius to come with them. They were carrying the spear-like weapon they had made the day before. They left the house and re-entered the forest.

Adrianne slowly picked up the leaves and placed them in the basket she was carrying.

Julius helped her while Patrick looked around the area. He did not lower the holding spear. He was ready to attack if there were upcoming beox to attack them.

Adrianne smiled secretly. Every night, since they first came here, she has done nothing but to drive away the beox coming in the perimeter. She just had to warn the animals that she was here in the woods; a more powerful creature than they were.

While she was here, no one would attack them.

She finished picking the leaves and we went straight. Patrick noticed it as they started walking back to the house again.

Adrianne had not taken a far walk and yet heavy and powerful energy suddenly struck her. Her heartbeat unconsciously quickened. Cold sweat starts to form on her forehead as the feeling of nervousness surrounded her heart.

This powerful energy can be compared to a Myriad— A high-class vampire who can control masterfully the element!

She could not move immediately. The energy she gained was too weak to fight a vampire with such strong power.

But what can a high-class vampire do in this forest? Isn't it... Could it possibly a high level be beox?!

In the blink of an eye, the energy she felt suddenly disappeared. The sudden cold feeling disappeared. Adrianne looked at her hands, she didn't know that they were trembling. This kind of nervousness that she rarely felt.

What happened to the energy? Why did it suddenly disappear? What kind of creature owns it?

"Abigail, is there a problem?" Patrick asked her when he noticed that she had stopped walking.

"N-No ..." Her mouth almost trembled with an unknown feeling.

They continued walking again. But Adrianne had stopped again. She felt something bumped in her foot. And when she looked at what it was, she saw an egg with golden symbols around it.

Adrianne looked at the egg and chose to ignore it. She continued to walk, but the golden egg rolled again to follow her steps.

When Adrianne stopped walking, the egg also stopped rolling. It was like a chick following its own mother. Adrianne frowned and picked up the egg, laying on the ground. The egg moved left and right as if having fun with her touch. The edge of her lip rose. Smiling, she hid the egg inside the pocket of her jacket.

Two days later, they continued as usual. Go to the forest to find food, cook, eat and sit on the lawn to get energy around the area.

Adrianne wanted to teach simple magic to her companions, but because some of them were only half vampires, the energy flowed slowly inside their bodies. They need a few more months of practice for their magic to work.

But the next day, a surprise awaits them. Several cars parked not far from the house. The vampires had arrived to pick them up.

"The kids were back, Olivia?" asked by the Headmaster of the school. He handed a book to the shelf in the library room.

Olivia nodded as an answer to the man. "Yes, Headmaster."

Soryn nodded as he opened the book. He was not very interested in the young outsiders. But because he was one of the caretakers of the school, he still had to watch over them.

But recently the children at school have caused a ruckus with the older students studying inside the Academia. He had to throw them into the forest to learn a lesson.

The children must be trembling at once and he was sure that they will learn something from it.

"How many are the only ones left?"

Olivia paused for a moment before answering. "The original number of children remained, Head Master."

Soryn closed the book that he was holding and looked intently at the woman. "What did you say?" he asked. Unsure if he heard it right.

Olivia took a deep breath before answering, "Nothing has been deducted from the children, Head Master. They were back complete."

"It's impossible! The forest was full of beox! Are you saying that no one attacked them?!"

"I-I'm also not sure what happened, Headmaster. When I came to fetch the children along with some vampires, we noticed that there were no traces of beox around the house."

"No traces of beox?"

"Yes, Head Master. There was no trace around."
