C 46. Pebble Direction

We have asked for more funds from your parents but unfortunately, they couldn't afford it. But now that you are basically working for us, the expenses fall on us."

"Still, it's underwhelming!" I snorted.

"True, it's a prototype. But it's parasitic, it will constantly absorb your Red Energy to fuel itself and grow in strength. The suit will gradually evolve to contain you more."

With more zeal, he added, "The Parasite potential is large, it will keep evolving until it can restrict the host or the host become weaker than it."

"So, I'm food for it?"

"Yes, for now, the consciousness of the suit is dormant. We can wake it up but that will be bad for it.

Usually, it will be bad for the host but in this case, you might scare the parasite, so it should be asleep till it evolved one or two.

By then its strength has reached a certain threshold, and it also gets used to you."

"Still not enough!" I said.

"I know you think so based on your limited knowledge about powers. But after I educate you about some key elements you will understand things are not as simple as you may think."

"Director Sam we are here, but you have to wait because of your new element!' One of the guards said.

We stop in front of a door that indicates it is a room.

A second later the Director of Sector 7 came out and he seemed upset about something.

"Good God you are here, I want a living eye as evidence in case that woman decides to change certain details…."

His voice trails after his eyes land on me and then on my suit.

"Hmm, this one is….?" He asked.

"My personal protector. It's dangerous roaming to other sectors without it, don't you say?"

"True, accidents always happen. But confidentiality?"

"You have not read my messages, Dr Khan?" Dr Sam said in a bit of anger.

"I did but not this head." A second later a flash of understanding appears on his face.

"Things should be discussed later, as the subject you are requesting is in a situation. Come inside."

Dr Khan walked inside the room and we followed after him.

The room is white and empty except for a vertical bed and a subject was tightly strapped on it.

The subject seems fast asleep but he twitches from time to time. Another aspect of the room is that it is gloomy and somehow dark.

There is light everywhere but it's still dark, especially around the subject.

Is his ability related to darkness, I wonder.

Questions sprouted in my mind and I had the urge to talk to Dr Sam but I refrained, not because he said I shouldn't ask questions anyhow.

But because of the seriousness, I saw on his face and everyone in the room. There are twelve people in the room.

Dr Sam, Dr Khan, Dr Psychiatrist, I don't know his name but he is always the person that deals with mental therapy.

Another fat Dr that always accompanies me to sector 7. A woman who was said to be the head scientist of sector 7, then 7 guards.

Four of them are well equipped with high tech armour while the other three are superhumans.

All of these twelve people have serious expressions. The guards and the fatty Dr are a bit afraid. As for Dr Khan, he is furious for some reason.

"You should have control over your subject." Dr Sam said.

An ethereal voice echoed in the room, and all the doctors and the guards trembled. Sweat accumulated on their forehead.

The voice said, "She took me by surprise, please do not panic, I'm trying my best!"

I did feel my heart tremble but not like them. To me, it's a boiling rage of excitement.

Dr Sam looked at me and said "Do you think you can fight Amina?"

I was taken aback by his question. Amina?

Yeah! That the little girl I used to meet in the cafeteria. It did not take me long to remember her.

As my instinct used to say I should avoid her, not out of fear, but there is this feeling things may escalate!

But now, screw my peaceful instinct. I'm excited about meeting my match!!!

"Yes. I can!"

***

Something is not right here. I extend my senses beyond their usual range but there is nothing. No planet size hunters, only I and my little pet that trembles every so often.

Its fear is not directed at me but at something that is also making my instincts scream with danger.

Unlike the danger I felt from those giant hunters, this one… is different, it feels pure destruction and as if I can't escape from it.

In that situation, I can't even muster some courage to run using my fluid because everywhere I sensed is not safe.

Thanks to the little pebble sticking to one side of me as if afraid of the opposite side. To confirm my conjecture I turned around to make it face the direction it was avoiding.

In that instance, cracks snaked on its body and it moved faster than I ever saw it move, hiding opposite the direction.

As we float in an Endless Black Space, there is no Up, Down, Left, Right, Front or Back, but rather we shift and move in any direction we see fit.

For the first time in my life, I identify a certain direction as the path of doom. But the sad part is the other directions are no different, to me they give off an eerie feeling.

Hmm, let's name this direction a Pebble Direction, as it was identified by it, or should I call it Doom Direction?

I positioned myself well and concentrated my senses toward the Pebble Direction with utmost concentration.

Nothing!

There is nothing!!

It was just that the space was silent, eerie and silent. It has never been this silent before, there is always a sort of vibration I can feel on my solid body.

But now, it seems as if space itself is thickening, becoming rigid and preventing the movement vibration.

Holy…!!!!!!!!!!!!!
