All's Fair in Love and War

The second time I woke up, I was in darkness.

There was no one around me, but my hands were still tied to the bed.  Someone had changed me out of my traveling outfit and had put me in a hospital gown, so at least I was comfortable in that respect.

I looked around.  Other than the usual monitors that were attached to me, there was nothing that looked dangerous.

My life signs must have changed from sleeping to waking because a door opened and an orderly walked in.

He was either a mage or a human, but he definitely was not a primate.

"Good evening, Princess Nana.  You're finally awake."

"Where am I?" I croaked.  My throat felt so raw and abused from all that screeching that I did earlier.

"You're safe.  Would you like a drink?"

I nodded, not trusting my voice to work.

He took a cup from the side table and held it so I could take a sip.  I swallowed and then grimaced.

My throat was so sore!
