The very next day, Rafael sought me out in the morning and stayed in the garden area with us while Tory and I studied our demon books.

Surprisingly enough, even though he was not happy with my sudden interest in necromancy, he began teaching us the various techniques of conjury.

When he was satisfied we understood the basics behind the spells, he took us UP above ground and to the clearing between the trees.

"Use your power words," he prompted.  "Wave your finger like this and direct the power words to the area where you want the creature to land."

He gave an elegant gesture and pointed to the ground nearby.  We tried to imitate his gestures with varying degrees of success.

"If you don't wave your finger to guide the direction of the command and forget to fix in your mind its landing spot, it will appear wherever you happen to be looking at.  It could even land on someone's head if you are looking at a particular person."
