Sky Mid-point Tour

It was about 1:30 in the evening when Sina and Joey made their way into the Skyfall Midpoint. The base had many soldiers that we're training, it looked like something the exact opposite of a base made for business. Soldiers fighting on the sand and the Artillery being flung into the sea It looked like a regular Military Base, nothing about it said business.

Calling it a business centre for the Skyfall Military Base seemed like a cover-up, It had too much ammunition to be strictly business; it seemed excessive.

Joey remembered seeing the waves crashing onto the coast and couldn't help but laugh at himself for thinking it was natural waves.

Joey followed Sina as she used the routine of showing her shiny badge until they were sat in a waiting room. They didn't have to wait long when the door burst open.

"Sina darling, how have you been!" A man called with open arms.

A scrawny man shouted but through the door with his hands held wide, he wasn't muscular but he had strong arms with patchy facial hair and a pearly white smile. He was about (6'1) with blonde hair in a ponytail.

His hands had many scars and the rest of his body was covered by his uniform but Joey imagine it had many scars. He was dressed in a suit of grey camo and had a belt with plenty of gadgets of what Joey deemed "death toys".

Sina skillfully dodged the hug and forced him down to a handshake "Nice to see you're doing well lieutenant"

"No need to be so formal, I was calling you lieutenant not too long ago I was calling you Lieutenant" The man quickly replied with a smile.

Joey's eyes flashed with realization at what he heard.

He had his suspicions that she was in the Army from the badge she often pulled out, but he never could have guessed; she was a lieutenant!

Joey naturally kept his surprise to himself.

"No need I'm just here on business and nothing else" Sina replied then asked, "where is it?"

"Naturally it's here, If you want to go and see if we can go right now... but I hope you would allow me to give you a tour seeing how much money I needed to get you here."

"There is nothing to see, I just want to get to business" Sina replied in a deadpan tone.

Joey listened to the conversation and wanted nothing more but to shut her up, but trying to fight a Sky Military lieutenant was just a pipe dream.

The blonde man finally noticed Joey expression and asked "Who is this?".

The man was tall and might no have seen Joey, he was only 5'5, but he couldn't help but feel like an afterthought.

"This guy is an apprentice of mine. He works with me, I took him to see what we are working on. Introduce yourself, kid".

"My name is Joey Wells Sir, Nice to meet you," He said awkwardly not knowing whether to salute bow or ask for a handshake.

"My name is Waynard Polls"

He inspected Joey with interest then said "I never knew you were the type to take an apprentice, I wonder how strong he must be. I imagine at least he would want a tour."

"Yes!" Joey screamed inwardly.

Sina struggled to answer then said, "I don't train anyone, he works with me; If you want to give a tour give us while we head to the package, I'm fine with that".

The man smiled satisfied with her answer "Don't be so serious Sina, I'll make this trip worthwhile".

Waynard wasted no time in leading them off. The first place they went into was a large room that was vigorous updraft, their hairs blew straight into the air. It was hard to give a surprising look with the wind blowing in your mouth.

The soldiers were flying in wingsuits, in a sky diving formation. The room was about 100meters long and 80meters wide, The floor was meshed and the breezed blew from the floor and into the room.

"These combatants are learning a Martial Arts called Soar, They will stay like this for months until they are able to reach minor accomplishments. The next step is to levitate. We have to cultivate them a bit more for them to be able to reach a grand accomplishment.

Flying is a necessity when going to 9 Skies, there will be a lot of things that want to kill you on the ground as well as in the sky. So reaching a grand accomplishment in Soar is crucial, some will spend three years just reaching a minor accomplishment stage.

The age range for combatants is usually 25 - 80, they are usually people who weren't chosen to go to Sky academy or failed to graduate, now they came here for rigorous to get drilled into a sky warrior and start cultivation" Waynard said as he walked through the room on a walkway that was solid steel.

Joey found his chance to ask a question "What would want to kill us at 9 Skies?"

Waynard smiled at the question "If there is treasure the will naturally be dangerous, It's up to you to decide if it's worth dying over. You can find rare metals that could cut a 50dc Cold Weapon like butter " He took a pause then said.

"This is why we groom sky warriors tirelessly; needless deaths need to be avoided".

Joey thought of something then asked "Are there only beasts that threaten Sky Military, I imagine that trivial beats might make the Sky mIlitary so meticulous in training.

Can't we just study them? Beasts are reasonable creatures that eat, sleep and breed. I find it hard imagining beasts having some kind of vendetta against the Sky military" Joey asked implying he was questioning if he was telling the truth.

Joey had a suspicion about why his Uncle taught him about Skies and the never-ending wars that were fought, he never knew that people thought it was just filled with treasure. He suspected that the reason was too much for him to understand.

He could understand the Sky Military using potential gains to recruit people to fight against the Skies, but it seemed a little too cruel.

Sina reacted slightly to what he said and Waynard acted like it was a simple question "good question kid, but tell me this, why do Lions hunt?"

"To eat"

"Do beasts really need any more of a reason than that?"
