Ground Bear

Two days passed and Joey became more comfortable with the life he was living. He continued to explore more of the surrounding area.

He continued to travel with the monkeys further and further away. He had 4 more days until Mila would come hunting for him and he never felt that he was prepared enough.

"I need a lot more planning if I wasn't to beat Mila. I need to build some kind of elaborate trap of something that can trap her" Joey thought, before talking to himself again." I just need to use my advantages to their fullest".

Joey had been by himself for a long time so he developed a bad habit of talking to himself.

Joey leaned on his tree, "I need to start with where I want to engage her. Maybe over the swampy areas could be ideal, but I would be throwing away my advantage…. I need traps and some big ones, but Mila can easily break any normal trap that comes her way" Joey rubbed his head in frustration, he couldn't think of anything.

As Joey was sitting on the tree branch thinking about the future, he suddenly felt himself being tilted. His eyes were closed, but he quickly opened them.

"Am I losing my mind, or is the world out for me?" Joey complained inwardly, his descent was slow and his tree broke several branches before falling onto the ground.

Jacob had no time to lie around and jumped off before it could fall to the ground. He had to focus on getting down safely.

Looking at the large tree being broken, he was in awe at what could have done this. His head quickly snapped to the base of the tree and he was met with another shock. There was no sign of cutting from the base, it simply looked like it had fallen out because of loose soil.

Joey doubted the likelihood of this and walked toward it for a closer inspection. What he saw shocked him.

He saw a familiar-looking bear with claws the size of knives, popping up from below the tree. As it popped from the ground it looked at Joey with fire in its eyes, like he was some kind of prey.

Meanwhile, Joey was confused about the grudge that the monsters harboured from him.

The bear came burrowing underground toward Joey who saw the movement above ground. The bear moved very fast. When the monster was in front of him, Joey took his spear and used the blunt edge to slam it into the ground.

Boom.

The ground shuddered and soon the movement stopped. Joey slowly lifted his weapon and pushed his hand into the ground. He had to struggle for a second when pulling out the body from the ground.

"Is this a Ground Bear?" Joey wondered as he looked at the creature, unconscious on the ground. The large mammal was 5ft tall and was about 600 pounds. It had large claws the size of a kitchen knife that would do serious damage to flesh.

"Did this guy did his way here all the way from the cliff? He shouldn't have been able to make it this far. Is it really this good at digging?" Joey suddenly had a lightbulb idea, but his face struggled in thought.

Joey had been thinking for some time when the beast started making noises. He promptly knocked it on the head a few more times causing it to pass out.

This time he hung the fat beast from a tree branch.

Joey walked back to the tree that had fallen and observed it, then pondered "I can use this bear to dig underground and make an elaborate tunnel system. I should be able to make some better traps".

The more he thought about it, the more he like the plan he had. Joey quickly started making markings with a spear about traps he planned to make.

Theses schemes were elaborate and would have to be covered from any angle, so it had to span for miles.

From his head, he mapped out many ideas onto the ground and surrounding trees. He put a lot of thought into each idea mapping out any entrance she might enter in from.

After hours of doing this and precise mapping, Joey was finally ready to lay the foundation. The plans spanned for miles so after he finished, he quickly ran back to the ground bear.

As he reached, he could immediately tell that the beast had woken up. Furthermore, by its growls were angry.

It senses Joey and his eyes grew fold and it thrashed about. Joey tried to talk to it but it wasn't listening to him, this grew to the point where Jacob was annoyed.

"Fine, there always something that people will listen to", Jacob folded his fists and beast the bear through its thick hide. The bear ever lasted more than 2 punches before it started death wailing, this time when Joey stopped it was quiet.

Joey was satisfied, he began gesturing a lot to the beast about what he needed "You, dig...where you see lines Underground". It took some time, but the Ground bear understood mainly because of fear of beating beaten.

Jacob released the Ground bear from captivity ordered it to work. The ground bear followed and dg the wholes exactly where it was told.

Jacob was surprised by how fast the Ground bear was. It was like a fish swimming in water. Its large claws parted away from the rocks like it was mud and sometimes crushed them.

Jacob was ecstatic at the sight, he felt that this speed would be enough for him to complete all the traps on time.

Hours passed and they had yet to finished a quarter of their plans. Jacob never like this because that means, he would not have finished in time, and it was pitch black underground.

Strapped for time, Jacob decided to work further through the night with shorter breaks. He also trusted the Ground claw bear to dig by himself and follow the blueprints he laid out, while he completed the work above ground.

The two worked for days on end until three days later they completed the project.
