The idiot smash the school bell because its noisy.

LANCE

"No!"

I used all my strength to undo the white rope binding me. I planted my feet in the cabinet at my leg and push myself up, desperately trying to reach her side.

"Mom! Don't listen to him! Run!"

The humanoid creature cackled. Twisting his head from side to side. The corner of his mouth is drooling. But instead of transparent slimy water, green liquid came out. Like a dinosaur snot.

I resisted the urge to choke in disgust. Mom is more important right now.

"You can't change history boy. Don't waste your voice screaming, its useless. This already happened before. She's dead."

Then why are you showing this to me?!

I watched my Mom started to act in frantic. She keeps going around in circle, pounding her fist on the wall. As if looking for a way out. Desperate to distance herself from the humanoid. But nothing turn up, so she resorted to clawing her nails in the door.

Until desperation overtook her, she started biting her own wrist.

I struggled against my binds.

"Mom! What are you doing?! Stop that!"

I can't understand what she's trying to do. Or maybe she's just starting to get crazy. Was it like what he said? Mom's getting insane?

A low growl escaped from the humanoid's lips. I stared at him. He's baring his teeth. Lips slightly trembling. Every second, he strained to control his mouth from shaping into a snarl, his nails are clawing the wall behind his back.

Mom is acting frenzy like he said. But he's not clearly not pleased. What's going on?

The blood from Mom's wrist is dripping in the ground. And she hovered it above the forehead of her baby, which is me.

Low chantings escaped from her lips. Soft wind started to blow inside the small room. The floor shook slightly. The ground where she stood started to glow in bleak white light.

The humanoid's growl got intense. His body constantsly shifted as if he's getting restless. The temperature grew hotter.

I stared at Mom. My eyes widen when I saw the baby me bears the Mark with number 5 on my little arm. And it's slowly fading.

"Stop that!" The humanoid screamed and throw a long white beam straight across her chest. Where she cuddled me on her arms.

"No!"

I fight to stand on my own feet. The thorns from the white rope drilled deeper into my skin. Impaling my legs and my chest.

"Mom!"

The white beam dissolved as it hit the invisible barrier surrounding the baby me. Giving me protection. But not my Mom. With another strike the humanoid struck Mom on the gut, where it plunge straight towards the door.

Creating a hole on her stomach.

"Mom!"

She fall down on her knees. Still clutching me in her arms. Her voice is too low I almost can't hear what she's muttering, but I strained my ears to picked up her words.

"I offer my life, as a sacrifice. Please...protect my son...from these monsters..."

A small circle formed at the baby me's forehead. Made from her blood. Her wrist stops bleeding, her stomach closed up.

I watched as a small white orb came out from her head, it floats down to the small circle on my forehead....

The moment it touched, I already knew...What it was. It explains everything. Why Dad said Mom's death has no cause. Why nothing came out from any laboratory tests...

I can't stop the tears flowing out of my eyes. Watching my Mom with me on her dead arms.

That white orb...

That was her soul.

A price she had to pay for giving me protection. For that spell she put on my forehead.

But I can't understand why.

Why is this happening to her? What's so important about me? Why inhuman creatures are coming after me? Why does she need to die?

"Because you have the power we want." The humanoid cracked in laughter.

"Did you enjoy my little show? It was hard to act my part when I knew what will happen. But for you, I gave my best shot."

He took a few step closer to me.

"What are you?" I asked through gritted teeth.

"Oh, you will know soon enough. For now, I better send you back to your body before that stupid Ranker noticed. So long Five."

With a wave from his placid hand, everything dissolved around me.

I snapped my eyes open at two stormy grey eyes looking down at me. With mud caking his cheek and sandy hair.

"Oh, thank the deities you're alive Eklektos! I thought you're a goner."

He held my hand and help me stand on my own feet. Students swarmed around us like flies on rotten food.

"How lame -" someone snickered.

"Did you see him collapsed when janitor accidentally throw the trash on his face?"

"Yeah, talk about pathetic."

"Ms. Greythorn said he collapsed at principal's office yesterday too."

"Really? Boy, that sucks. He must have peed his pants back there."

Sandy haired dude steered me out from the students and we head inside the two-stories made of brick building.

"Hey, where are we going?" I asked. For some reason, his black long sleeves and tight pants struck me odd.

It seems my eyes is playing on me again. Whenever he moves, some part glitter in rainbow colors. As if there's a hidden mechanism in it that bends the sunlight like water surface.

"I honestly don't know." he said. "I've never been in your realm."

"Huh?"

He pulled me to a double doors that directs to the school gym.

"No. No. We're not going there. Let's get into class."

He turned around and tilt his head.

"Class?"

"Umm, classroom? Lecture? You don't have -"

The school bell rattled above us. He flinched.

"What in the freaking fudge is that?"

Before I could say anything, the bell rang again. This time a little louder and last little longer. He shuddered, putting two hands on his ear.

"Know what? I'll shut that shrieking red harlot."

Harlot? Next thing I knew, he ran to the opposite and kicked his feet at the wall. Giving him momentum to leap and smashed the school bell in pieces.

"You - you!"

He landed perfectly in front of me, hands slapping each other to remove dirt.

"What?"

"Why'd you do that for?"

"Because it's noisy. You know back in my realm, horns are only blown if there's enemy on boundary territories. Mostly gray beasts. But there's no emergency here, I don't see the point of ringing that midget red spunk."

Behind him, footsteps creaked and a shadow emerged in the corridor. He heard it too.

"Oh, funk." He said.

I pulled him aside, running back to where we came. Hoping against hope we won't get caught.

We take the stairs on our left and paced the corridor. I don't know where we're going. Thanks to the accident earlier I couldn't get my schedule from the Counselor Staff.

"Eklektos?" He called out.

"Yeah?" Although that's not my name, I still respond.

"Why your arms and legs bleeding?"
