Operation: Saving Magnus from persecution only to be thrown in the Faery den

MAGNUS

The agitated shouts turned hostile. All the Gifted People have stood on their seat, snatch whatever scraps, stones and personal things they could find and throw them at me. Thing is, they keep missing a whole mile of inches and hit the people below the lowest stadium. Aggravating them in the process. In the end, all Gifted People in the stadium turned towards each other and argued.

Taking incidents seriously, fight broke out.

Pieces of meat flying over here and there. Stones tossed occasionally, jewelries, machinery tools, shoes, gloves and other things pitch at the center, it's like I'm watching a kid's playball kicked by sophiscated adults. Beers and water splashing everywhere. A whole stadium subjected to disaster.

What a great turn of events. I chuckled. Which turn into jeer then becomes a sinister laugh. Now it's time for me to scorn at them. Judge at their stupid faces. So much for acting mighty and righteous.

I once stood in the entranceway of this arena. The Royal Guards of the Royal Family had their spears trapping me from going inside. From going over to my Dad. I watched them raise praises and spoke his glorious deeds everytime he came home from Beasts eradication assignments. And I once gaped, too rigid to move when I watched the same people throw hideous accusations at him when he dared to save one Faery.

Sometimes I question myself, what are we Rankers fighting for? What are we risking our lives for?

Are we supposed to defend these bunch of hypocrites to continue their merchenaries and smuggling illegal Faery enslavement? Are we supposed to stand in the face of carnage, trying to ignore the wrenching scene of our comrades as Beasts feast on their flesh one by one? While these people have ball parties, tea gatherings and auction activities to throw their wealth and mocked on people with lower standing?

Here they are, making my past actions a laughingstock and tried to brought my Dad's affair into my prosecution while they never looked at their privileges. Who do they think they owe their freedom to party from? Sure these money - grubbing people have endless wealth stacked on their safes but who do they owe their safety from the Beast attacks these whole week?

Isn't it from us Rankers?

That pudgy useless Rank Ruler who had his ass permanently stickered on his throne had never done his job - never risk his life out there in the desert. And he's sitting there, abusing his power to eliminate whoever he wants without proper justice.

Seriously, how far from heaven did this kingdom fall? To entrust it's fate on this incompetent Ruler...

I shuffled on my feet. Trying to stamp the chains with my sturdy leather shoes. Testing if it will snap in two. It didn't work. Figured.

I lifted my eyes to where the Rank Ruler and his blundering servant almost tripped on his wedge heeled pointy shoes. His podium almost dived into the railings - down to the empty ground below. If only I was there I could smack the podium right to their useless brains.

The Rank Ruler's face became a perfect shade of purple. He snatched the communicator from his servant's agitated hands and screamed at the glowing needle.

I thought his voice will boomed across the arena. I covered my ears with my chained hands just in case. But it didn't. No sound came out. When I squint at them to know what's wrong, his communicator is no longer possessing the glowing needle. It disappeared. Like poof. As if his blessing don't work anymore.

I smiled smugly. I don't how that happened but I can't mistake the relief, the good - for - you Rank Ruler skunk insults firing in my head.

"I can't voice any words out with this mouth binding blessing so I'll just - huh? Why did I hear myself?"

No. I'm not a fool. I'll definitely know when I can open my lips or not. But right now its stitched to the very tip of my mouth. Tongue tied to it's position. So how...?

"Seeker." A scuffle in my left almost made my heart jump when I heard someone called and no one's actually there. And just before my very eyes, a withered thin skin and face buried under the bush of silvery white beard came out of nowhere.

His face is ultimately golden old. I'm not talking about skin color - I'm referring to his age which probably passed the age limit of jewels' value.

"245 years old to be exact." The bearded guy cleared his throat. He covered his mouth with his fist. I frozed. I immediately bow my head in apology. There's the clanking sound of familiar bracelets Rank Elders wore on their wrists.

It suddenly dawned on me that he's the Rank Elder who supervised our Rank. Who gave his communicator and responded to our aid last midnight. Who's been with us all this time, assisting us in battle techniques and trainings...

And to think we've been together way before that... Just imagine seeing the person who've been with you for years, only to witness now what he actually looks like... It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

"Seeker...you must leave immediately." He said, his voice as stoic as his face.

"I'd love to but I got chains bounding me, I wonder if I should be the next top circus performer for chain tap dance..." I trailed off when I gaze at Rank Elder's stern eyes.

Now is not the right time to joke. Either that or I just chose the wrong person to talk to.

"Emergencies. Time is valuable." He flicked his wrist. Two golden bracelets with diamond red gems glowed on his right wrist. The world around me started to rumble, and the scene of citizens fighting each other tilted. Then the color danced before my very eyes.

It was too late when I realize we are actually transmigrating to another location. The chains have come off in my wrists and ankles. My mouth has been freed from it's bindings. Hazy clouds started to envelope us in a circle, tracing our figure.

I planned to count to three. But before I could utter two the familiar dunes of sand below the stormy clouds met my eyes.

Confirming my suspicion.

This Rank Elder somehow saved me from the Rank Ruler's unjust persecution to deliver me straight to the Dark Elf.
