8. THE BOOK.

After talking abut more, they decided to head down for breakfast. As she left her room, the young man from her dreams stood outside her bedroom window. He seemed to have something important to tell her but at her current level, that proved fruitless. At least Roger relayed what he had intended for a while. He just hoped it was enough.

As they walked into the dining room, Roger came to a sudden halt. He eyes were stuck on someone he had never seen before. Felicity walked in and found her father talking to some stranger. Their conversation came to a sudden halt while their eyes turned toward her. She felt uneasy but still managed a smile. The visitor's face lit up and he smiled. Felicity could not help but shiver. She was not sure why this was happening.

Her eyes looked back but she did not find a trace of Roger. She was about to leave ass well when the visitor stood. His eyes held a certain emotion that made her want to head for the hills. She wondered why her father brought such AA person to his mothers residence. Perhaps she was the only one who felt this way but seeing that Roger was gone too, she was sure that this was not a coincidence.

"This must be her right?" he said while approaching her.

The man was clad in black. His dark brown hair curled out of proportion was seemed to have been somehow tamed. His brown eyes brought forth a comforting yet chilling feeling. The smile he had plastered on his face too was fake. One thing was clear in Felicity's mind, this man was dangerous. He reason was not a tangible one and she was sure her father could not understand.

"Felicity." Her father called out to her drawing her out of her thoughts. "This is Mr. Michael."

He was silent for a while. It was unlike him and this did not sit well with her. The mood she had had in the morning was nowhere to be found. She tried remembering what it felt like but what she could feel at the moment was dread. Something was not right and for a while it wasn't going to be. She had wanted to move but her body was fixed to the floorboard.

"You are to leave with him immediately." He said firmly.

The strange man smiled, sending more shivers down her spine. She looked at her father for answers but he avoided her eyes. She tired coming up with something in her mind but she was blank, not because she was scared but because she was angry at the fact that her father was about to do something that she did not like.

"No." was all she said before she left the room.

Whatever was going to happen next was none of her business. She was more concerned with finding Roger and having him explain what was going on. She wanted to know what it was that she had felt from that strange man. He looked normal but something about him was not right. She hadn't noticed but her grandmother too, was not around.

After walking for a while, she returned to her room. On her bed was a good looking book. Her bed had been made and the whole room looked clean. She was sure her room was clean before she left but it was not sparkling as now. She approached thee book and picked it up. Felicity felt a familiarity to the book but could not remember where she had seen it before.

Felicity inspected the book. The cover had a golden lining, a brown cover with no writings on it. Inside it was a book mark that was red in color. From a single glance, she could tell the book was extraordinary. Without the title, she could not tell whether she had read it before or not, neither could she tell who it was from.

She set herself down on the edge of her bed before opening the book. In the first page was a message for her. It read:

Dear Felicity,

It seems time has come for you to know who we really are, this book has everything you need to know but to open it, you will require the key. Remember, be yourself. Time is a step forward but attitude is a step backward. Be it in light or dark, your heart is your guide. They will come for you, and the choice to trust will be up to you.

I'll be by your side. And whatever you need, I will provide. Head downstairs and say 'yes'.

Lively, mommy.

Her heart stopped, she stood up and walked around her room searching for something. Felicity came back and opened the book. She found the story she had been reading earlier but it was slowly erasing itself. She did not want to go along with what her father had decided. And the fact that a book her mother had left her was sending her these Weird messages was even more strange.

She decided not to follow the orders she had been given and went to the bathroom. As she left, the book vibrated and turned into a murky red color, the golden lining turned black and it emitted a very disturbing aura. As she took a shower, the book became more and more agitated. Like it was waiting for something.

When she got out of the bathroom she got dressed and was about to head out when the book caught her eye again. To her it did not seem out of the ordinary so she picked it up. Her hair turned white for a second and so did her eyes. They went back to their original color but her face was void of all emotion. She set the book down and walked to the dining room.

She met her father and the visitor, apologized for her behavior and agreed to head out with him. As she said this, her father did not notice her robotic statue or voice. She might have answered and acted like herself but she was being controlled. The man in black smiled and went outside to wait for her. After she was done, they left.

Hailey came out to say goodbye to her. Roger came out but he was too shaken to speak up. As the carriage left he turned to Felicity's father. Under normal circumstances he could have been very furious but because of the fear, he could only think about Felicity.

"If anything happens to her, I'll kill you myself."

"Roger!" Hailey warned.

Bruce looked at him and thought of how annoying he was. To challenge him he decided to enquire why even though he was not interested.

"Why don't you go ask her who really killed her."

Bruce grabbed his shirt out of anger but Roger did not back down.

"Where she is headed is the place I was kept for five years. I barely escaped with my life and you just sent your daughter there. Didn't your wife ever tell you to be wary of the Darktents. That isn't their real name of course but how stupid can you be not to realize the darkness around them." As Roger said this, his Bruce let go of him. Hailey was shocked at this.

"If she dies, I'll have your head." He said as he stomped away.

He regretted going to get Hailey when he should have been watching out for her. As he walked in fury a dark cloak went passed him. When he looked back, no one was there.
