10. THE DESTINATION.

Part of him was filled with utter and complete joy while the other was restless. He could not tell why this was happening. He kept convincing himself that seeing her everyday would be fine. He also forbade himself from falling for her, though he had already fallen in that pit. He was confused and lost in his world.

His mind was in total chaos as his heart pounded harder ten times over but his face was calm. It was a disgrace for a noble to show their weakness. It would also be used against them in the long run. Moreover, he had seen this in real life more times than he could count, it sickened him but in his mind he was convinced that the world had no place for weakness, and that was why he strived to grow strong.

Everyday, he would train and gain more knowledge in the attempts of protecting what he valued most. His family. Even though most of them were not up to his standards, they were still his blood. He just hoped when he finally decided to go on with his plan, they would stand by him and not against him. He let out a sigh without realizing it.

As he stood there, he felt someone holding his hand. Looking down, he saw his little sister, she looked… mad. However, that made her cuter. Jayden's mind was still processing the information he had received. He was still settling his feelings. His mind was Amos racking down a solution when his hand was lifted. He froze.

Since he had not responded when she called out to him. His little sister, Jodie, decided to tease him. She knew her brother was strong but when it came to her, he would let her do what she wanted. So long as it did not put her in any danger. His hand was lifted to greet the lady that sent his heart running.

"Her name's Felicity," Jodie introduced.

Silence.

Jayde stared at her eyes and his ears reddened. Luckily, not many picked that up as some of his hair blocked them. However, something thing juicy was something little Jodie had eyes for. She was a fan when it came to romance, and love. She might have been young but she had gathered intel from reading variety of books in her free time. Now, there was chance to actually see her fantasies happen on real life so she was not going to let this slide.

Jodie stood next to him and pinched him. Jayden realized he was yet to speak. He assumed that she had introduced herself and went on to do the same.

"Ahem. Am Jayden. Jayden Lester. A pleasure to meet your acquaintance." Jayden replied, his voice shaky.

She smiled.

" Pleasure's all mine." She replied.

Her vice sang a chorus of hymns in his head. He felt like he was floating on a cloud and a sending up and away. His world finally made sense when she spoke and he was tempted to ask her to talk more. But, he resisted. They were still holding hand when they felt an electric charge that made them let go. There was an awkward silence as they both took a step back.

Michael saw this but ignored. He immediately made a mental note to look into that later. Felicity was still confused about what was going on. The last thing she remembered was the strange note in the book and when she woke up, she was asked to alight the carriage. Touching her side, she felt for the book and almost panicked when she did not feel it. Michael came behind her and gave it to her.

"My lady." He said.

He had found the book on her lap and had taken a peak. To his disappointment, he found it to be a book filled with short stories. He had almost tossed out the book when he discovered this but restrained himself. This had completely made him believe that she was just ordinary. But that electric charge earlier was one her kind used when they were already marked.

To clarify this, he would need time but that was not something he was worried about as she was going to be staying at their residence probably her whole life. He smiled as excitement rushed through his old bones. It had bee a while since he had investigated and now that he was going to do it once more made him feel young. He walked and stood beside his young master. He had not seen the spark in his eyes when Felicity alighted and it was pure luck that he did not, otherwise there would have been hell to pay.

The last maid to cause such an emotion in one of her children was tortured to death. She never even knew why this was her fate but that's just how the Lester house was. Specifically, how the parents were. They only wanted noble or royalty for their children, no exceptions. That was why theses two were uneasy around the rest of their family. Jayden had unfortunately known about this bit and that was why he tried his level best to keep Jodie out of it.

Felicity thanked him as Jodie giggled. Little as she was, she was not going to let this opportunity pass. Straightening her clothes she held Felicity's hand and headed for the house. Her brother and Michael followed her. Walking behind her was proving to be a challenge and no later how hard he tried taking his eyes off her, he just could not. He mentally scolded himself over and over again and really tried to but failed miserably.

Michael explained what she was expected to do, her duties and who she was supposed to report to. Felicity was to train Jodie in the ways of nobility. Her duties were very much like that of a teacher with the addition of handling all her meals. She was to report to Michael after presenting herself to the Mistress of the house.

She was to start immediately and no slacking was allowed. He was about to tell her the repercussions of not doing her chores when he suddenly stopped. He did not finish and walked off somewhere. They walked in silence after that.

"I'll be in my room."

Jayden suddenly said and Jodie stopped. He planted a kiss on her forehead and left. Felicity was shown her room. Jodie also showed her her own and left for the one opposite Felicity's. Felicity was left there starring at the door she had disappeared to. Her mind was yet to register that it was Jayden's room. She opened her door and entered.

Her whole body shook. She was not sure whether it was exhaustion or anger. Questions ran through her mind so fast that she could not come to a conclusion. A hand patted her head and tears fell from her eyes. This whole time, she had not been aware that she had been holding them back. Her words finally made sense.

' One should never fully trust any human being.'
