11. THE FAMILY.

The day had been long and tiresome. The events were both good and bad. The master and mistress came home that evening and so did the rest of the siblings. The once free environment became very toxic and suffocating. It did not feel like a family and gave of the feeling of an office where the manager was constantly at the employee demanding for results. The only ones who behaved like family were Jayden and Jodie.

She helped the maids set the table as she wanted to avoid staying with a family this suffocating. Her life had not been an easy one but right now she needed light not more darkness. They all ate silently and in a robotic way. Occasionally, she felt someone gazing at her and it made shivers run up and down her spine at an alarming rate. She dared not look up and continued thinking.

Her face was void of emotion but no one could deny the fact that she still looked heavenly and even more breathtaking. From time to time, she would correct Lady Jodie's eating habits, wipe her face when she made a mess and instruct her on what cutlery to use. One woman at the table looked her attentively.

One look at her would make one think that she jumped out of the Edo period. Her face was full of bold makeup, one would think she was a doll. Her lashes were long and so were her nails. Her attire was expensive and tightly clutched to her body. Without saying, this made the obvious obvious. Her curves and waves were out there for everyone to see.

Her beasts were pumped, and this made Felicity's heart wring. She wanted to reprimand her but her ring and attire told her that she was the boss. This meant that she would have to suck her feelings and stick to her job that god-knows will take how long. However, she also had a chance to find out what she was actually doing here.

Felicity needed information. Her father might not have told her much and that, was understandable. However, people with absolutely no ties to someone were bound to let one or two things slip. The best way to gain information in any unknown territory was through rumors. In better terms, she had to make a chat buddy.

"I approve." She said.

Her voice could not be described. It was not unkind yet she could not help but feel threatened by it. Her tone was soft and gentle. Though that did not correspond with her eyes. Her chin was supported by her hands which were intertwined. Felicity wondered how her nails did not scratch her.

She could not help but slightly tilt her head in confusion. The lady smiled, held her face and pulled. The skin on her face peeled and what was underneath was… skin? It had light make up on. The lashes were slightly shorter but were still long for an average person. Her skin was smooth and Felicity could not help but be relieved somehow.

Her face did not show this as it would be taken as disrespect to her boss. The woman smiled. She was now content with what she saw in this little lady.

"You pass." She said.

Felicity wondered what she meant by this. She took a step back, made sure she would not inconvenience anyone behind her and bowed her head. After a second she lifted her head. One of the children sneered and made a remark.

"Bow lower."

The woman was pleased further and told her child to shut up. She stood from her chair and advanced to her. She closed the distance enough for them to see eye to eye. Felicity did not lift her head, neither did she apologize. She had done nothing wrong and there was no way she was going to soil her dignity to satisfy anyone. It did not matter whether the person was a god or a demon. No one was going to shake her.

"I like you. You did not lower your body because that would distract my son's attention. You did not make a remark or sneer at the young one for being impolite. And now, your eyes are lowered. You have your standards, therefore, you have my respect. And for that, whenever I talk to you, you are permitted to look me in the eye. For you too are a child of noble birth."

Felicity could not move she felt like a viper had entangled her in its grasp. She could not breathe and was about to break in cold sweat. But, she was not ready to back down either. When the lady mentioned her birth, everyone at the table stopped what they were doing apart from Jayden who already knew of this.

She had changed her attire and was in a simple white dress. Her hair was tied up in a high ponytail. And her wavy hair sat on each side of her shoulder. She had no make up on but she was still a sight to behold. The clothe she wore also brought out her curves even though it did not cling to her. She calmed down and lifted her head. Their eyes met.

"Thank you, my lady."

"Please. Call me Hazel."

"Thank you, Madam Hazel."

"Just Hazel."

She nodded. Hazel figured she needed time and let it drop. One of her son's asked why a child of noble birth worked for another noble cause it did not make sense. Hazel did not bother explaining why this was. And Felicity went back to her position.

"Strong women don't need to explain themselves." A girl in her teens replied.

The matter ended. Everything in the room felt even colder. She did not know what and why this was so but she tried acting like nothing had happened. Little Jodie excused herself, Felicity helped her off her chair and they both walked off. Something about this family was off and one look at Jodie could tell.

Jayden left as well but he headed for the study. Hazel was intrigued by her and wanted to know more. She wanted more and she was going to get it. She had to find out why the greatest mixed witch of all time gave birth to a human.

' This is going to be interesting.' She thought to herself.
