14. ESCAPE.

Night was upon them and the environment was as quiet as a cemetery. The lights were out as everyone was having a dream or two. There was no wind that night. However, someone walked out of the household. They had a cloak on them making it difficult for anyone to recognize them. They jumped over the wall and fled.

Morning came and those in the residence went on with their duties as if nothing had happened. The runaway had already gotten close to their destination. Even they had been normal, they would have taken a whole night plus half the day to get there on foot but they had their way. By the time, he family was serving breakfast, she was already there.

She went in without further delay or even bothering to tell her superiors that she had arrived. At the moment, what was important to her, was the life she had come to save. That was, of it hadn't crossed over yet. The butler yelled for her to stop which attracted the attention of those having breakfast.

She passed by the dinning area without giving them a second glance. She was heading into a particular direction it because she actually knew where she was going but because someone was leading her. She was lucky enough that he was with her but being free in this place was far more dangerous than back at the household she worked in.

Hailey and Bruce immediately left their food and went after her. Hailey told the guards to stand down and head back to their posts. They had refused to do so at first but one looked from Bruce sent them packing back to where they were. The two had gone after the intruder after that.

Becky had gotten to his room and was looking at him. Her knight did the actual checking by restoring his energy, and blocking the memories that made it difficult for him to regain consciousness. After doing that, he had regained some color on his face a'd his breathing had become a little even.

Bruce badged into the room and had demanded to know what had happened. Hailey had walked in after her and locked the door. They stood there and waited for her to answer but Becky was too busy checking if his pulse was regular. When her knight had confirmed that Roger was out of danger for the moment, she sighed a sigh of relief and let go of his hand.

The anger she had been keeping locked up in her heart exploded as she stood. She was yet to lower her hood so they had no idea who she was. The only reason they had let her in was because she headed straight for Roger's room without asking anyone which meant that she too, just like him, were one of them.

Folding her fingers into a tight fist she punched her boss. Of course, she held back a little bit but he still stumbled back and landed on the floor with a thud. Only then did she lower her hood and looked at them. The look in her eyes told them that she was waiting for an explanation and depending on what they told her, she was either going to let it slide or throw another.

The two of them were shocked as they did not know she was one of them. Like Felicity, she did not display any signs of having the power her mother once had so they had assumed that she too was normal. How wrong they had been. If only he had known of this earlier, then maybe… however, time to ponder on the issue was far gone.

What they had to do at the moment was explained why Roger was in that state. Hailey helped her son to his feet. He had wanted to go get something for his cheek when he stopped. The aura produced by angry Becky made him reconsider. Bruce explained what had happened and left out the fact that Felicity was no longer with them and the reason why.

Once he was done, Becky was not convinced. Her knight too sensed that something was amiss.

"That wouldn't not have been enough to remind him of the ties he had lost. I sensed a feeling if great lose as well." Her knight said.

"You lied."

The room became hot to the point it was unbearable. Hailey lost her footing and plopped to the floor. Bruce only backed away slowly. He looked at his mother and saw how this was affecting her and pleaded with her. She withdrew the heat and waited. Bruce helped his mother to a nearby wooden seat before explaining everything.

He did not hide anything apart from the reason why. Even if she was to know about it later, it hurt him too much to think of it at the moment. When he was done, he looked at her and saw her calm down. Her face relaxed and he knew that they had escaped whatever had awaited them had they crossed that bridge.

Becky went and sat on his bed and looked at him. A sudden realization hit her and she turned to look at them. They twitched like scared little children who had stolen candy from the candy store and had been caught. They looked like they were about to cry before running to their parents which made it funny.

She had wanted to giggle but set the latter aside.

"Which family did my lady end up serving?" she asked. Her face calm.

"The Lester household."

Once those words had flown out of his mouth, he realized that she had the same expression as the one Roger had had when Felicity had left. She stood up and in the blink of an eye, she was standing in front of Bruce. Her hands grabbed his shirt. Her eyes turned sapphire blue and she looked beyond pissed.

"If she dies, I'll have your head." She said.

"Could you tell us why?" Hailey pleaded, frightened of losing her son before her eyes.

Becky let go and appeared next to Roger. She pointed at him.

"They destroyed his and that is why he has no memory of what happened before he came to us. If they extract her power then she would not only lose her memory but she will die. And in turn, they will be the most powerful people on this planet. To us, they are an incurable poison that eats the flesh day by day. To them, we r a treasure that must be savored slowly. And to them, Felicity is the key to attaining their wildest dream. She is the last of our strongest clan after all."
