38. The Sea Sloth Meat

It was already late afternoon. Evan left his room while holding up the small sling bag containing his cellphone. On that Saturday, he felt so refreshed. After a few days of sleep deprivation from trying to bring Popo back, and last night accompanying Gargar to face the round monster, today Evan has a complete rest. Now, he will meet his two best friends at their regular cafe.

However, he found it strange to go and accept Kara's invitation to hang out. Actually, he is still mourning Gargar's death. His sadness at losing Popo also has not disappeared yet. However, the young man wants his life back to normal as soon as possible.

"I'm leaving, Dad!" Evan said goodbye without looking for his father's. Not getting an answer, he said again as he walked. "Dad, are you busy counting the women dressed in sheep ...."

The young man gasped when he saw Jon, who was sitting opposite Tony in the front room. Jon, wearing a short-sleeved shirt with vertical stripes again, smiled at Evan at once.

"What a coincidence, I wanted to give you something, Evan." Jon got up from the sofa and handed Evan a key.

Evan's eyebrows shot up. "What's this, sir?"

"A reward for defeating those monsters." Jon widened his smile.

Instead of accepting it, Evan studied the key closely. It's a motorcycle key. Still shiny and had almost no fingerprints. It's definitely new.

"Sorry, but I think this is too much, Mr. Jon. I haven't actually done anything, have I?" Evan asked dubiously "The ones who beat the monsters are my partners. I'm just watching them."

Jon tosses the key up and catches it again. "But, without you, they wouldn't exist."

"Don't you want something more from me?" Evan started pushing Jon.

"Your instincts are sharp, huh?" The old man shrugged. "Well, after this we do expect you to train ...."

"Thanks, but I don't want to do it," Evan interrupted in a brisk tone. "Now I want to go, excuse me, sir."

After saying that, Evan just walked away. He couldn't stand Jon's presence anymore, especially since the old man seemed to want to get him involved even more. Train? Seriously? With assignments and lectures, he feels that he has less time to do something, what happens if he has to train?

In the yard of the house, Evan found a shiny green sports motorbike. It's a motorbike that is dreamed of by young men, including Evan. The model is very beautiful and the power is very fierce. Evan couldn't lie to himself. Indeed, he was tempted to try that motorbike. However, instead of having a cool motorbike on the condition that he has to be Jon's lackeys, Evan prefers not to accept the key.

What's more, the color of the motorbike reminds him of Popo.

Evan ended up choosing to ride his battered motorbike instead. Better to use that motorbike than to suffer unpredictable consequences.

When he was about to leave the front yard with his motorbike, Evan met the driver who was with him yesterday. The man with sharp eyes was leaning against the fence. Evan just nodded at that man and sped up his bike.

Evan took an unusually long breath. He is still sitting on a motorbike, but it's not his bike anymore. The young man was now on Shane's scooter. Evan's motorbike broke down and had to be left in the repair shop.

If only he had taken the motorbike Jon gave him ...

Evan shook his head. He shouldn't be tempted by something like that.

"Wait till you see Kara's new motorbike." Shane who was riding the scooter said.

"I don't know, Shane. This talk about motorbikes makes me want to dip my head in a basket full of hand sanitizer." Evan babbled.

"What are you talking about?"

"I'm also confused by my own words."

"You are so damn crazy."

Not long after, they arrived at the aforementioned cafe. Shane parked his scooter next to a brightly colored dirt bike. Evan was immediately dumbfounded and shuddered at the appearance of that offroad motorbike: its body was painted bright in yellow and purple, covered by a lot of floral stickers, and decorated with gleaming glitters.

"Behold, this is our queen's bike!" Shane giggled.

Evan shook his head. "Does she poisoned by sea sloth meat until her brain is damaged so she chose this maximum fucking ugly appearance?"

Shane's laughter grew louder.

After taking a closer look at the motorbike for a moment, the two of them entered the cafe filled with posters of the various soccer players. There, Evan saw Kara being teased by two men. Despite smiling, Kara made an uncomfortable gesture from the chair she was sitting on.

"Come on, let us accompany you so you won't be lonely." The first man said in a slightly forceful tone.

The second man wore a creepy smile. "It will be fun."

Kara laughed awkwardly. "I told you, I'm waiting for my friends."

"Is this your friend, Kara?" Evan asked and immediately put his arm around Kara's shoulder.

The two men immediately gave Evan an arrogant look and walked away without saying goodbye.

"Seriously, why don't you use your violent ability on them now? Why would you prefer to torture me and Shane instead?" Evan complained and sat across from that girl.

Kara snorted. "I used to get into trouble with strangers for being too emotional. I don't want to be reported to the authorities for something like that again."

"So, when it comes to us, it's okay to do that ... Ouch!" Shane rubbed his arm which Kara had just pinched hard.

A male waiter came to them while carrying a menu book. Evan just turned to him and said, "The usual."

The waiter turned around without stopping, then shouted, "One blueberry milkshake, please!"

"By the way, your new bike is so magnificent, Kara. I was amazed to see it. Perhaps it could be included in the world-class art category."

"Huh!" Kara cut her chiffon cake with a fork. "After knowing my hobby, my parents immediately bought it without consulting me. For the sake of me being able to continue my passion, they were looking for the cheapest secondhand motorbike. But, the color is so ugly... I really appreciate them, but .... Argh! I want to repaint that damn bike, but it's really expensive!"

"You should be grateful, girl. My family can only buy me a scooter." Shane replied, then took a sip of coffee. He did come to the cafe first when Evan's motorbike broke down, so he ordered ahead of time.

Evan's gaze is fixed on Kara's pink cake. Seeing the sweet food, he thought of Gargar, someone who was willing to sacrifice so much to fulfill his desire to defeat monsters. Even if the way to convey his love is wrong, he is still a great person.

And now he doesn't get the respect he deserves. No funeral service or the like. But, what else can you do? He's not someone who should exist. At first, he was just a packet of sugar.

"So, how are you, Evan?" Kara asked as she put a piece of cake in her mouth. "I mean, after last night, how did you feel?"

Evan shook his head lightly. His face looks gloomy. "I prefer not to talk about it."

Kara exchanged glances with Shane for a moment.

"Okay then. Sorry if I offended you." Kara said in a careful tone.

"It's alright." Evan did say that, but his heart actually wanted to go home. He still felt strange hanging out in his current state, even though he knew that these two friends wanted to lift his spirits.

"OK, let's discuss something else." Kara sighed. His eyes turned in another direction. It took a few seconds for her to finally speak, "You know Olivia, don't you? She's one of the girls who are famous in our college for her looks ...."

"Apart from our Kara, of course." Shane interrupted in a mocking tone.

"Shut up or I'll pluck all your nose hairs." Kara snorted, then lowered her head, she didn't even look at Evan. "Lately, she's been asking me about you a lot. She often asks if we're really not dating. I think this is weird. How do I explain it .... She's being targeted by a lot of guys, you know? She is truly beautiful and graceful. She is also very smart... She is so perfect. I'm not insulting you, but if that wonderful girl asked about you so many times, wouldn't you be suspicious? Could it be .... "

"Hello, this really is Olivia, right?" Suddenly Evan put his cell phone to his ear.

"Yes, it's me." A girl's voice came from Evan's cell phone. She sounded excited. "I was so surprised when you suddenly asked me for my number via Instagram's DM."

"Even I was surprised how I could ask your number." Evan laughed happily as if his sadness was just a lie.

Shane and Kara looked at Evan with almost expressionless faces. Evan seemed didn't care and continued the conversation with that girl.

"Wanna kill him?" Shane hissed.

Kara sneered. "Like i said, I don't want to be reported to the authorities again."
