51. It was Hot, but It wasn't Summer

"What the heck?" Evan was shocked as soon as he got out of the truck with the rest of the squad. His skin felt a scorching heat, making him sweat immediately. As far as his eyes could see, orange light was emitting from various directions.

"We have to beat that monster quickly, so the firefighters can come here." The squad leader explained.

The fire had risen and burned the buildings on either side of the road. Vehicles were engulfed in flames. Evan was familiar enough with the sight. It's like when Gargar fought the spherical monster, but on a much more severe level.

The hellish sight.

Evan's two hands clenched tightly. What's all this damage for? How many people were injured? How many people lost their property? How many people have lost their place to make a living?

Focusing on his own thoughts, Evan felt a poke on his shoulder. He turned around and found Loblob already standing beside him.

"Now, may I scream, Master?" The lobster man asked hopefully.

"Not yet." The squad leader warns in a stern tone.

Loblob ignored the squad leader and instead continued to look at his master.

Evan shrugged slightly. "I agree with the squad leader. You have to hold back for a while. You might attract the attention of the monster and we might be attacked when we are not ready."

Loblob lowered the corners of his lips in disappointment. Evan patted the shoulder of that being he gave the life to. "Hang in there, big man."

"After meeting that monster, you are free to scream until your throat is damaged." The squad leader added.

They did a briefing for a moment before carrying out the mission and then started walking fast in orderly lines which each of them pointing their firearms in different directions. Supposedly, they walked closer to the buildings so that they were difficult to detect and easier to take cover, but that was not possible because the existing buildings were still burning. The creaking sound of the objects that began to crumble continued to be heard from various directions.

Hence, they went through the middle of the main road. That is the best option now. They couldn't use their truck because the monster might burn it down. Trapped in a burning vehicle is a disaster.

"We should get fire-proof clothing in case of a situation like this." The squad leader grunted. "We have become a special force that is much more special than usual! Do you agree, Evan!?"

Evan who was in the middle of the squad gasped a little. The current situation made him very nervous. He did not anticipate the sudden question. "Errr... I think so too."

One of the members of the special force tapped him on the shoulder. "Take it easy, mate. Trust your partner. He's definitely going to protect us."

Evan looked at Loblob who was still doing absurd movements next to him. Then, the young man took a deep breath. Yes, he must be calm and focused.

"Want to get slapped again to wake yourself up?" One of the other members asked.

Evan immediately shook his head hard and covered his left cheek. He still felt the heat and stinging from the slap earlier.

The black-clothed squad continued walking until they almost came to an intersection. Getting a hand signal from the squad leader, one of them moved to a relatively intact van, then peeked from there at one of the turns.

A few seconds later, he returned and reported to the squad leader, "The monster is over there, about 40-50 meters from us, sir."

There was a loud echo of laughter, followed by the sound of explosions. Evan could immediately guess that the monster was doing more damage. And it made Evan feel furious.

The squad leader walked over to Evan and said, "Looks like this lobster man is just obeying your orders. Tell him to defeat the monster. He can also scream as he pleases, but make sure that he is close to the monster while doing it."

Evan turned to the lobster man again. "Loblob, you heard him, right?"

Nodding firmly, Loblob ran and turned to the intersection. The squad members spread out and hid in several places to provide backup. Evan was also hiding behind a sedan with Bob.

"Just in case Loblob turns into his original form in the middle of the battle." The sharp-eyed man handed a gun to Evan.

Evan gripped the gun tightly and peered around to see the battle.

Loblob accelerates his run. His expression grew even more intense. The monster seemed oblivious to the lobster man. She was still busy throwing fireballs in various directions.

"Arrrrgggghhhh!!!" Loblob shouted loudly while jumping high.

The image of Gargar's stomach attack resurfaced in Evan's head.

However, that was not the case. In the air, Loblob did a pose like he was about to punch. The monster turned around and couldn't do anything when she got Loblob's punch in the face. The punch is so hard that it makes the monster's body roll very far back.

"You spoiling my fun!" The monster roared loudly, then stood up and threw two fireballs at Loblob.

The lobster man hits the two balls until they're destroyed, and then takes his signature pose: stretches his arms out, glares wide, and screams, "I hate heat!!! Because of the heat, I died!!!"

"Poor guy, it looks like he's been cooked alive. It's called animal cruelty," said one of the squad members who were quite close to Evan apart from Bob.

Loblob and the flame monster ran at each other. The monster's two hands were already burning. She immediately gave continuous punches. Because each blow was covered in fire, Loblob had a little trouble deflecting it. He also had a hard time avoiding it. The light from the fire in the monster's hand dazzled the lobster man. He could not anticipate the attacks very well. As a result, the fire fists hit his body several times and he could not counteract. Not to mention that the special forces clothes he was wearing caught fire repeatedly from the beatings, thus hampering his movement. He became too busy putting out the fire.

Even so, Loblob gave a confrontation to his enemy, "Is that all!? Your punches only tickle me!"

In fact, the lobster man's body was already covered with wounds.

"Shut up!" The monster dealt a more brutal combination of punches.

Loblob saw an opportunity because the monster's stance had become unbalanced. The lobster man caught the monster's body and threw it so high. When the monster was still in the air, Loblob had already jumped into one of the building windows that had not been burned, then jumped again to get to the roof.

There was a loud thud as the monster's back slammed into the asphalt, causing large cracks. She can only moan and struggle to get up.

"Heaaaaaaa!!!" Loblob took his flagship pose for the umpteenth time, then jumped high again. His elbows are aimed at the enemy.
