Sparring With Teacher Gerry

Marcus had reached the level of a seventh-level advanced mage, so he was in a good mood. That didn't mean he would relax, however.

He went to the library to continue learning magic. He found a magic strength appraisal teacher to show that he could not break through his current level.

According to the academy rules, Marcus was not eligible to learn other spells.

However, Marcus's strength was self-evident. He had mastered most of his spells, and they were unable to break through their bottleneck for the time being.

How could he not learn new ones now?

Thus, he wanted to prove that his strength had really reached a bottleneck and ask the academy to allow him to learn the next type of magic.

The magic strength appraisal venue was next to the teaching building. It was a large three-story house.

There was a hint of elegance in its simplicity, and It looked no different from a residential building.

But when Marcus entered, he was shocked by the scene before him.

There were training puppets all around him, and numerous students were constantly casting spells at the puppets.

Each person corresponded to a puppet.

Lightning magic, water magic, earth magic... Countless spells were attacking those puppets.

"Won't they be hurt by accident if they cast spells like this?" Marcus asked in puzzlement.

"Haha, that's impossible. They've all received strict training, so they won't let the spells hit others so easily. Besides, there are a lot of teachers and guards here."

Marcus looked to the side and saw a white-haired old man slowly walking over with a wand in his hand.

"Greetings, Teacher Gerry." Marcus bowed to the old man.

Anyone who had studied at the Ivy League Academy would know Gerry's name. He often traveled around the academy to check on the students' strength and mental fortitude. During large-scale events, he would always be seen on stage, giving speeches for the students.

"You are Marcus, right?" Teacher Gerry smiled at him. "I've heard of your name a long time ago."

"Yes, my name is Marcus." Marcus nodded and said, "Teacher, I'm here to assess my strength. I have reached a bottleneck. I need to continue to practice other spells before I can continue to increase my strength."

"Oh?" Gerri was a little curious when he heard that. "I've heard that your practice speed is monstrous. You were still a magic apprentice half a year ago. You're already at the level of an advanced mage. Time really flies."

Gerri said slowly, "I know that you're in a hurry to practice magic in order to restore the glory of your family. However, if you're in a hurry to practice magic, your body will not be able to take it. Moreover, there will be a huge hidden danger in your path of cultivation..."

"Hidden danger?" Marcus knew what this hidden danger was. It was that one would go mad and become a black mage after going insane.

"Marcus," Teacher Gerri suddenly spoke, causing Marcus to raise his head and look at him. "I'll spar with you and see if your foundation is stable. How about it?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Marcus nodded and agreed, "Thank you, teacher!"

"Hehe, come!"

Gerri brought Marcus to the second floor and arrived at a sealed arena. There were only the two of them.

"There are only the two of us here, so you don't have to be restrained. Show me your true strength and fight with me." Gerry comforted Marcus even before the fight started.

That was true.

Teacher Gerri was one of the Ivy League Academy's honorary teachers. He was a holy mage and his strength was naturally above that of a grand mage.

As such, there was a huge gap between them.

"Okay, I understand!" Marcus knew that this fight was nothing more than an exchange of magic.

Gerry cast a fireball with both hands and reminded Marcus, "Prepare yourself."

A small fireball traversed the closed arena, flying slowly toward Marcus. It seemed that the lack of magic power caused the fireball to look weaker and weaker.

Nonetheless, Marcus knew that there was a huge amount of magic power in it.

It looked like it was flying very slowly, but in fact, it was looking for an opportunity to catch him off guard and suddenly accelerate.

Marcus was not careless. He immediately mobilized all the magic in his body and cast the Explosive Fireball Spell in response.

When the big ball and small ball collided, the intense heatwave that erupted made Marcus somewhat unable to accept it.

This feeling was even more painful than when his Fireball Spell had achieved a breakthrough. This kind of heat was even more unbearable than before.

Marcus gnashed his teeth and looked at Gerry.

He watched the two balls collide with each other calmly. It seemed that he did not take this kind of temperature seriously.

"As expected of a holy mage." Marcus sighed.

Suddenly, Gerry shouted, "Marcus, you still don't take this seriously. How long do you want to hide your true strength? Young man, don't think about hiding things from me. I can see through your thoughts clearly."

Every word landed in Marcus's heart. He raised his head and looked at Gerry's face. He was a little angry.

Marcus knew that he could not hide his strength anymore.

Gerry really did show some mercy to him.

He had thought that he could use his fireball to collide with Gerry's fireball to see if it could enlighten his spell.

But now, it seemed impossible.

Marcus knew that he had to reveal his true strength.
