Daniel's Crest

For today, Luna decided that she won't be going next door to practice at home. She has been going there like every day because there's no one living with Daniel but giving him some days to relax would be great isn't it? So, he can get his privacy back for some day.

Daniel woke up from his sleep but he did it to start his routine even though he wanted to sleep more. Sleeping in the day was better than sleeping at night for him. So that he can lessen his fears coming towards him which makes him unable to fall asleep.

After folding his blanket, he walked out to the kitchen to drink a cup of water before he started to eat his breakfast. It was put into the fridge last night, an overnight oatmeal made with yogurt, oat and all kinds of berries he had at home. It was his favorite.

He savored a spoonful of it. The drowsiness went by as he enjoys the cool mixed flavor of sweet and sour.

His phone on the bed rang. The spoon aimed to his mouth with his favorite breakfast fell onto the ground, spilling the spoonful of overnight oatmeal on the kitchen floor.

Daniel didn't care about the spilled food but he was staring at the direction of the sound. He knew who the caller was. There's only that person and the assistance of that person on his phone.

He slowly walked towards the bedroom to pick it up before it was hung up.

From the other end of the phone didn't speak for some seconds, waiting for the boy to speak up first. The waiting time passed quickly, a sigh happened but it wasn't too loud. It was enough for Daniel to hear.

A deep voice of an adult male sounded, "How are you?"

Hearing his voice made Daniel's heart rate sped up, it took some seconds for the boy to forget the flashbacks of the pain and sufferings. He repressed his emotions, mustered up his courage to say the template, robotic response of, "I am fine," even when he wasn't.

The man on the other side frowned his brows and told the boy, "Today, is the day your housekeeper will be coming. She's someone who can be trusted, so tell her anything you need."

Before the boy could respond he asked again, "Are you sure you don't want a full-time housekeeper?"

"Yes," Daniel answered the man without hesitations.

He cannot allow anyone to report back to this person of his fears and worries. There's always that lingering fear of being misunderstood by a certain someone. Even if this person is his biological father, he won't allow himself to be vulnerable just because of blood.

Take what it's given, don't cross the line by being greedy, these facts were by now sticking in his mind.

He's fine living independently. Not being vulnerable to his own father while he wanted to deep down doesn't make him less brave. He knew his place in that household already.

Lack of energetic responses as usual made the man's made gloomy. He ended his call with "Great!"

Does this kid think he has too much free time to contact him for fun? He has even more important matters to attend to.

Being like this because his step mother vented her anger on him before. He didn't lose anything though. Didn't his wings grow back? Thinking back about it worsens his mood more. The man throws away his phone to the desk in front of him.

'What a waste of having the same crest as mine.'

Daniel also threw his phone near his pillows and dived into his bed once again. Tearing through his clothes, two pairs of wings came out. He wrapped himself in his wings making a cozy nest made of his wings for himself.

The sizes of the wings were more than big enough to use it like this. If someone were to walk into his room, they would be shocked for sure. Seeing a nest made of feathers that were dark as an abyss.

Inside the feathers, Daniel could only see the darkness. The last time he used his wings was last week. He could still see some lights coming through his gradient colored wings that day. Hours passed in silence for the color of the wings to tone down into gradient color.

His wings fluttered as it went back inside his back, only leaving the throned shirt on the back, revealing the gradient color of black to white crest which looked like a pair of wings through the throned holes.

He has to change back his clothes! It's almost time for Everette to come.
