Supposed Curse

"Yes there is" Ye Lihua stood up and walked towards her sleeping chamber with the pair of siblings following closely behind.

She pulled out a magnificently carved sandalwood box from under her bed and opened a secret compartment, inside lays a single spatial ring with intricate and complex inscriptions.

She wore it and inserted some internal energy into the ring, once done she took out a talisman and signalled for Han Chunhua to come over.

Han Tengfei looks at the talisman in interest and asked Ye Lihua "Mother is that talisman the object that'll help prevent Huahua bloodline from self-destructing?"

She nods and let Han Chunhua's hair cascade to the side before attaching the talisman to the back of her neck "This is a special sealing talisman designed for sealing the power of ones bloodline, for now it should be enough to temporarily delay her awakening but sooner or later the seal will eventually be too weak to stop it so we need to temper your body to withstand the power before that happens."

Han Chunhua felt her body become slightly heavier "How?'

Ye Lihua answered while skiming through the remaining items in the spatial ring "With a special medicinal elixir bath."

"But doesn't that mean that you'll have to perform alchemy "she looked at her body worried.

"Yes but I don't have all the materials needed at the moment, it will take quite some time before I'm able to gather them and to me you and your brother are always my top priority it doesn't matter if my condition worsen" she said without hesitation.

"Mother how long do we have until the seal breaks" while secretly wishing in her heart 'please be a long time, if that was possible then I'll have a chance to reach my desired outcome.'

"If nothing unexpected happens It'll be at the very least 7 years" her eyes shone as bright as the brightest stars when she heard her.

"Since it'll take that long then you can just teach me to make the elixir instead, that way your condition won't worsen and I have been interested trying alchemy for a while now, please mother" she pleaded.

Looking at her she tried to find an excuse to reject her "If we do that then I wouldn't have any time to gather the remaining material."

Han Tengfei eagerly volunteered "Mother I can do it in your stead."

Seeing as they wouldn't let her perform alchemy no matter what she gave in, hearing their mother gave up they cheered.

Ye Lihua pick up a brush from the nearby the table and started writing, after a few minutes she pick up the list along with the map of the continent and gave it to Han Tengfei "Here I wrote down where you can get the various herbs and a list of the herbs that we need, you don't have to rush since some of the materials required you to fight the magical beast guarding it so stay safe."

He nodded and took the paper, folded it then put it into his robe "I will anyway good luck with learning alchemy Huahua I'll depart to gather the materials tomorrow since it is late, good night."

Once he left Ye Lihua asked Han Chunhua with a serious tone "Are you sure you want to learn alchemy if you are I won't have any objections but I will be extremely strict in teaching and you can't give up in the middle."

She turned towards her mother with a determine expression "Don't worry mother I will never leave what I started unfinished."

"Good then meet me in the alchemy room to get started on the basics tomorrow morning, now get going a girl needs her beauty sleep" Ye Lihua shoves he out the door impatiently.

The next day at the door outside of the alchemy room Han Chunhua walk in to see her mother sitting next to a giant pile of books.

Once Ye Lihua spotted her, she urged her to come and sit in front of the pile of books.

Sitting in front of the pile she asked "Mother what are all these?

She smiled but for some reason it sends shivers down her spine "When I heard your answer yesterday I just couldn't hold back, I woke up as early as sunrise and came here to sort out all the books about alchemy I even added some from my personal collection for now you need to memorize all the herbs and their characteristics in five months. "

Her lips twitches and she slowly turns her head toward Ye Lihua as her pupil dilated "Are all of these just about herbs and their characteristics?"

"Why yes is there a problem, ah I almost forgot, I will be asking questions about the herb at random intervals and if you get a single question wrong then you have to write the answer a hundred times"

Her face paled 'What do you mean strict this is basically torture, did you forget that I'm only a six year old girl.'

She could only complain internally and finally submitted to her fate, she sat down in front of the pile of books that were as tall as her and began reading while her mother sat behind her drinking tea.

After a few hours, Han Chunhua called "Mother."

"Yes?" she tilted her head.

"I'm just curious but what bloodline do I have to actually have a chance of self-destructing."

"It hard to explain but you can think of it as like a curse."

"Curse?"

"Mhm it's best if you don't ask too much but to be clear our bloodline didn't always have a have a chance to self-destruct it started randomly without any explanation."

"Had anyone tried to find the cause?"

"Yes but they almost always ends up the same, they come back and cursed the same ancestors saying that she broke a taboo and the entire clan had to pay the price for her mistake but the strange thing is that, that supposed ancestors had never left the clan and always had someone watching over her in the end she was burned to ashes on a stake right in front of a crowd with tears streaming down her face while smiling."
