Seizing the throne

Walking on the palace grounds the queen of Enchansia wore a confident smile. She walked towards Elsie's chamber to have a word with her. She had found gold while she was searching for stones and she was more than happy to share her treasure with a future ally.

She had the guards announce her arrival and requested an audience with Elsie. Elsie was surprised to learn that Queen Regina had gone all the way to her chambers just to see her. She was curious about the sudden visit and why the queen went to all the trouble of seeing her out. She allowed the queen to come inside and ordered her servants to bring them both some tea. She had them a seat on the terrace while they waited for their tea.

The servant returned with a teapot and two cups of the tea, she poured the tea for them and excused herself. "To what do I owe the honor of your visit queen?" she asked.

"I came here to talk to you about a very important thing. The thing that I want us to talk about could change both our lives," the queen replied calmly.

"I don't quite understand what you are going on about but since you claim that it will change both our lives then I am all ears."

"I was just wondering if you ever wanted to be the queen of Atria," she stated shocking the life out of Elsie.

"Are you out of your mind, what you speak of is treason and I am not a traitor. I will not indulge you any longer, you should leave," she instructed and showed Regina the door.

Regina didn't seem at all bothered by what she said and continued to drink her tea. She has been looking for a way to get rid of Elena for a while and she finally found out how she can do that and she was not going to back down. Elena was too smart and conniving for her liking and now with Elsie in the picture, she will get Elena out of the way for good.

She enjoyed her tea while Elsie watched her with worry. She knew all too well what her sister was capable of and it was nothing like anyone can ever imagine. She was the devil in its human form when offended or angry. She for one has never been on the receiving end of Elena's wrath but she had seen it first hand what her sister can do. She was always terrified of Elena deep down and could never find it in her to face the girl directly, it took her a lot of courage and practice to talk to her and now she was being asked to betray her.

She remembered the time that it was discovered that she was the daughter of the king and how Elena had reacted to the news. Her body trembled when her mind replayed the two-hundred-year-old princess's anger. She grabbed the chair tightly as fear ran through every nerve in her body.

"Regina please leave," she pleaded in a terrified voice.

"I am not going to leave so easily, I came all the way here to talk and I am not leaving until you hear me out. If you want me to leave so badly then listen to me," she said and took Elena's mother's journal from her dress and handed it over to Elsie. "This might explain why I am here," she added.

Elsie took the journal from her, she inspected it before she opened it and began to read from it. She read the journal and when she realized who's thoughts she was reading she stopped on the first page. She closed the journal and threw it back to Regina. It didn't feel right by her to invade someone's thoughts like that. Especially if the person is the late queen of Atria.

"I am not going to read that," she told and walked to her bed.

"Then I will not leave your room and I am sure that your half-sister will love seeing you with me," she said getting Elsie to glare at her. "Your eyes don't intimidate me but I am sure that Elena terrifies you," she added and Elsie got back to the terrace and took the journal from her, and sat down to read. She went page by page reading the journal, time went by and she continued to read the book until the end. She was shocked at what age had found out from reading the book. She understood why Regina was asking her if she wanted to be queen because according to the journal of the late queen she is the rightful heir to the throne.

"I take it that now you understand why I am here?"

Elsie remained silent and absorbed all the information that she had just read. She couldn't believe it but it was all true, she was the one who deserved to sit on the throne and rule over Atria. She thought of the outcome of the information being leaked to the public and what that would do to Elena. She wanted her sister to be happy and for them to reunite like they used to be before but the bridge between them keeps growing bigger and bigger by the day.

"Now let's talk about getting you what you rightfully deserve," said Regina putting her teacup down.

"There is nothing to talk about, I don't want to be queen and I would much rather have Elena's seat on the throne," she replied not wanting to snatch anything from her sister.

"Why if I may ask don't you want to be Queen?"

"Because I want Elena and I to get along and not to fight. I want Elena to forgive me and then we can be friends again like in the past," she confessed to the queen.

"I see but that will only be possible if you are queen," she said and took a bite of her cookie."As long as Elena takes the throne then she will always see you as inferior and won't spare you a glance. The fact that you are the late king's daughter makes it even worse for her to be friends but if you are the queen then she will have no choice but to do as you say. With that, you can find a way back to being friends."

Elsie listened to the Queen speak and had to admit that she had a point. There was no way that Elena was going to forgive her so easily and go back to being friends. Last night had proven that everything she does will only make Elena angrier. The way Elena reacted to her dancing with Esteban was a fact that Elena won't be easily convinced of her intentions and if she becomes queen then she will never give her any time.

She considered what the Queen was proposing and agreed with her on taking the crown. Being queen Elena will have no choice but to respect her and then they can work on their relationship from there. They continued to talk and discussed how they were going to seize the throne of Atria from Elena. They had to be smart and careful about their plan to avoid Elena finding out.
