Baroness' Ball

At Eos' back were deep scars etched into the skin where it was serving as a reminder of her one purpose in life, survive. Releasing a laboured sigh of exhaustion as she looked at the piles of paperwork that surrounded her, "Just a few more year of this and you will be free." Leaning her head to the rosewood table that perfectly complimented the Monciaux colour palette with all the rose gold, "Just be patient." She began to comfort herself as she began to struggle with her motivations. The subtle scent of the rosewood table wasn't too unpleasant to Eos who was breathing in long intervals to help alleviate some of the stress that plagued her mind terribly. A gentle knock alerted Eos who stretched her limbs before affirming the visitor's presence within her private study, revealing an unfamiliar face.

The maid bowed as she waited for the lady to allow her to speak which she did, "Lady Monciaux, there is a tailor that has requested for an audience with you." The mention of a tailor instantly perked her up enough that she was about to accept the request, sending off the maid to attend to the tailor, Penni. Eos began to organise the paperwork depending on the urgency of attention that it would require. Thankfully, most of the paperwork that require her full attention could easily be carried along with her. Before leaving Eos locked her office to prevent any people from entering her private office since every document in that room was important for managing the estate.

Walking through the halls that were crowded throughout with servants that doing their daily tasks but as they walked pass her it was a clear distinct avoidance of her presence. It was better that they didn't associate with her at all. Too much noise. Eos soon reached the bright hallways which would be the place which invited guest would be able to glimpse into the grandiose of the Dukedom. Tempting those to venture into the luxury estate but they would be quickly taken away before exposing too much leaving them to yearn as to continue to explore the estate. Especially cultural art enthusiasts would want to eyeball at all the beautiful artworks that have accumulated into the estate since the beginning of the kingdom.

Eos refocused herself back to the guest that was probably awaiting in the main hall. A neatly combed back mop of salt and pepper hair revealing an air of nervousness and excitement exuded from the figure that was seated on the lounge chair was constantly readjusting her glasses. However, being in such a luxurious room easily offset Penni who could only stiffly confine herself in a tight position where she wouldn't take too much space on the chair where there was enough room that at least two people could lay there comfortably. Her legs were tightly squeezed together whereas her back was as straight as an arrow which was looked very uncomfortable even for Eos who usually had perfect posture. The porcelain cup that held the tea, which was served to her by an attending servant was trembling from her shaking hands.

Eos strolled into the room without trying to startle the nervous Penni who quickly set down the cup before readjusting her posture to that of a stick, "Have you prepared some samples for my wardrobe for the upcoming social season?" As Eos went to cross her legs as she placed her elbow on her knee to support her chin. Outstretching her other hand that was free which was then filled with an entire booklet of outlines and designs. All the potential dress that could be brought to this world for Eos to wear in the social scene were astonishing which all the notes bordering the designs with small words, arrows, fabric samples and colour schemes.

The drawings were flooded with notes which helped flesh out the idea for the dress to come to life, but the colours also matched Eos' skin tone, hair colour and eye colour. So, most of the colour schemes were either a softer and lighter colour to compliment her hair which was a major feature on Eos, or it was an elegant and bold colour to contrast with her hair. Most of the design's main inspiration of fairies, nature and flowers which seemed to suit her, "I have already made some prototypes, and some have been finished since we last met." Whilst Eos was busy looking at all the designs given to her, the tailor had bought in a rolling rack of some of the most beautiful dress that were in the book that was given to her.

To most eye-catching dress was the most beautiful chartreuse colour that was almost the same colour as her own eyes. The overlay of the dress was a pastel green that emulate the leaves of a flowers which was the skirt of the dress. The accentuates of the dress were vines that wrapped around bodice as it gently cascaded down mid dress as small fabric flower decorated along the vines. Head accessories also accompanied the dress with skeletal like leaves head pieces with sparely decorated pearls which would adorn the crown of the head to make it seem like a tiara made from leaves. But from a different angle it could even look like it was a part of her head making her seem even more akin to fairy folk rather than human.

Though the dress was exquisitely designed with the intent of highlighting Eos' image of having the blood of fairies in her, "Penni, this dress is indeed beautiful," It was more suited for a masquerade or a fantasy themed ball, "But the number of occasions which I would possibly attend with this dress is close to null." It was a shame to see such a beautiful dress go to waste especially with this level of craftsmanship. Penni's head slumped slightly since the most labour intensive and highly anticipated dress wasn't suitable for high society, but it would act as a learning curve to what dresses to make in the future as she pushed up her glasses once again.

However, another dress peeking out from the rest of the green palettes on the dress was a contrasting darker green which immediately contrasted with the pale green colours. It was a bold emerald, green colour that would make it seem like she could blend in amongst the greenery. The fabric was much thicker, so it had some heft to it compared to the rest. Without the glimmer and sparkle like the rest it was might more muted which Eos preferred much more than the eye-catching dress. The chartreuse dress can be wearing on a different occasion where she would need to change her identity for other outings of a different kind.

The dress had an A line silhouette which flared out at her natural waist where it then hit the floor with heels on, however, without heels did the dress drag across the ground. The billowy sleeves of the dress had an overlay of the same iridescent fabric which was in a bishop style where the ends of the sleeves cuff around her wrist giving the wearer an airy like figure like they could easily drift off from the wind. The neckline of the dress cuffed around the base of the neck where it was attached to a ribbon which would fasten the top. The triangular cut-out of the back reached to the mid-section of her back revealing some skin since it fashion of high society become laxer with skin exposure however it was still preferable to cover where possible. To accommodate for the skin exposure, it was covered by the sheer iridescent fabric acting as a window of sorts.

Eos continued to refine the wardrobe for the social season with Penni who was constantly writing notes as if her words were gospels, but it was quite underwhelming. Penni wanted to make grandiose gowns fit for a fairy like being such as Eos whose beauty was rare amongst many women. But considering that Penni had only seen Eos would faint if she were to be introduced to her friends who were very similar or more beautiful. Many of the woman in high society were beautiful because they had the wealth which allowed them to pamper themselves by enhancing their feature with cosmetics and skincare that would ensure their beauty. Generally, across the board women in high society are going to be beautiful.

The Baroness' Ball for newly initiated nobles was upcoming. Fortunately, the dress code of the party wasn't too wild especially since the numerous occasions where the dress code was very avant-garde. Though this time the dress code was simple. This concept of simple was something that would completely throw any fashion forward person for a loop since every time the Baroness holds the annual introduction party for the newly initiated it would always have an extravagant theme which could allow for people to wear splendidly outrageous made dresses that could not be acceptable to wear for formal parties.

__________

A yawn escaped Eos' mouth as she begrudgingly sat at the vanity desk where Lisa was attended to her. Some light powder was applied to the skin as it would smoothen out the texture on the face however it was pointless since Eos already have flawless skin. A few sticks of lipstick were presented in front of Eos who pointed at the rosy-pink shade which was made it look as if flower petals had fallen on her lips. The hairstyle which Eos would don for the party would be with her hair being left to it natural wavy state. It would be wrapped in an intricate bun which would have lots of textures from her natural waves but some parts of hair in the front would be pulled out to frame the face.

As preparation for the face was done. All that was left was the dress, accessories, and shoes. The final version of the dress that Eos was going to wear was the same billowy emerald-green dress with the bishop sleeves and the A line silhouette was that it would have very fine golden embroidery of insect wings done to the bishop sleeves which would cuff around her wrists. There were also some light alterations to the fabric which was gave a subtle iridescent look to the fabric, but the same fabric would also replace the ribbon that would wrap around her neck. The accessories were minimal with some simple rose gold earrings studs.

Eos soon was finished the preparations revealing a completely different person from the usual Eos. As she walked through the hallways that were bustling from all the servant who paid no heed to her presence but still avoiding her. Her escort was her brother again who surprisingly sober for once, "Father told me to attend this party." As the two was going to enter the carriage to attend the Baroness' Ball. He was awfully fidgety in his seat as his gaze was shifting from Eos to the floor of the carriage as he wanted to say something.

Eos was assisted by her brother which completely surprised her once again, "So? What do you need from me this time?" Leaning against the cushioned seats where she began to rest her elbow on the windowsill before leaning on the heel of her palm, "You want to say something to me, then tell me because I don't bite like your mother." It completely surprised Eos who usually never lashed out on other people.

But her brother head hung to the ground as if he couldn't bear to look at Eos at the same level, "I know my mother has been mistreating you since the day you came to the Monciaux Dukedom." Sighing heavily as he placed his opposition hand on his heart before bowing his head to Eos surprising her once again, "I wish to learn how to manage an estate like you have for all these years." He was sincerely wanting to learn how to finally manage an estate, or it could also be some convincing acting.

The carriage soon came to a halt as they arrived at an extravagant mansion estate where there was an entourage of servant aiding the arriving nobles attending the Baroness' Ball, "Let's discuss about this afterwards." As the door opened by one of the attending servants of the host. Both exited the carriage with her brother leading who immediately turned back to help Eos down from the carriage and it was like a scene from a fairy tale. Two naturally beautiful siblings graced the scene of the Baroness Ball where Eos immediately parted from her brother as she spotted her friends waved to her. The group giggled as they began discussing about all the gossip from their own house as they all did a small spin to showcase their dresses.

Courtney was dressed in a long periwinkle draping dress that clung to her excellent figure as it flared out at her natural waist. The bodice of the dress had some beautiful silver embroidery to emphasis her curves. The shoulder of the bodice was much more structured as it reached the base of her neck as the sheer billowy sleeves cascaded down her arm to the floor. The overlaying material was the sheer making it seem like a whisper of a fabric. Her hair was sleek back freely as it was held back by a headband that was beautiful periwinkle that was adorned with pearls and silver.

Arachne donned a crimson mermaid styled dress that was figure hugging with the neckline plunging to her chest but for modesty's sake was covered by some sheer material. The dress began to flare out at her knees, but the stretchy fabric allows freedom of movement. The sleeves were like capes draping behind her as orange gold accent ran wildly along the cape-like sleeves. Her ebony hair was braided and pulled to the front with some ribbon interlaced with it.

Lilith was in a black suit dress that was tailor to her figure as it flared out at her natural waist. It was very inspired from the uniform from her our family's military force but there was a slit on both sides of the dress, but it was covered by a simple underlay of a sheer fabric of the skirt peeking out. The embroidery thread that was weaved throughout the fabric was a bright golden colour like the sun to emulate the golden buttons on formal military suits. Her hair was simply put in a high ponytail leaving her hair in its natural state.

Cybele wore a dusty rose dress that cascaded down to the floor as the many layers of the dress emulated a waterfall. It was a off the shoulder dress with layered lantern sleeves that had the shimmery iridescent fabric with a peachy undertone. As the different lighting would hit the dress; the dress would appear to be a different colour depend on where she would stand. Her hair was parted to the side as it was the front section of her hair was braid like it was a rope, but it was fluffed out to give it some texture. It was sectioned off in a half up and half down hairstyle.

The five of them had very distinct styles of dresses that they wore to the Baroness' Ball, but they all had one thing in common with the same shared use of the fabric from the tailor that Eos introduced to the group. All their dresses were impeccably designed by Penni, and the iridescent fabric would be signature for all their dresses especially for parties that required a lot of attention being drawn to them.

A small jiggle of a bell resounded throughout the hall. At the top of the staircase was The Baroness herself who smiled at the sheer amount of people who were attending the party that she had hosted, "Well? Let the party begin!" Her loud resounding voiced echoed throughout the room thus signalling the musicians to begin playing some background music for the nobles to mingle amongst themselves.
